Ninjas and Huton

Hello everyone, I was wondering have you guys noticed that some ninjas really do 2 things with their Ninjutsu. 1 they don't use it at all/ very rarely or 2 they spam Huton mostly its the 2nd and I don't really get why you would spam Huton all the time when u have 6 other Ninjustu that can be more effective based on the situation. I know a 15% increase to attack speed is hard to ignore but if u don't need it why try to keep it up? Why not Raiton, Doton, or even Suiton for its sneak/trick attack buff? I always assumed Ninjustu had a 1minCD or longer, but its only 30 seconds. So I was thinkin why not ask you guys to tell me why some Ninjas spam Huton or even if I should spam Huton lol I am curious about what you guys think about this, thx in advance for your opoions :D

In a word? Mundra lag, the more variety of ninjitsu are used the greater chances of getting mundra lag and completely botching it, the two safest to use is Huton and Fuma Shuriken, however doton is great for putting out a dot it can be dangerous to use, especially when combined with Kassatsu....which a ninja should be using with Doton whenever possible as it causes each tick to do more damage on the dot, anyway as I said its mostly due to mundra lag, I myself haven't jumped into alex yet so I'm not sure how much of an impact it will have but from what Ive seen with other nin in dungeons and primals the lag is real, cept for me as Ive seemed to have lucked out :P

Before lvl 54 you will be casting Huton throughout the fight because you want 100% upkeep of the buff. 54+ you will have Armor crush which you can use to refresh your Huton buff, so you can more easily use the other ninjutsu.

Other than that you use Raiton for single target damage (fuma shuriken if you have bad latency). In AoE situations you switch from raiton to katon and when kassatsu is up use it with doton so each tick is a crit. When using doton though, you really only want to use it with 3~4+ mobs that wont die extremely quick.

You'll want to use suiton for the buff whenever Trick Attack is ready.

The only other ninjutsu left is hyoton which is very situational.

I can't speak for mudra lag as I don't really have an issue with it. Either a person legitimately has latency issues or they are a derp who tries to input their mudras way too fast.

If you're in dungeons, you're probably just seeing people take a laid-back attitude. Huton is the most powerful 'jutsu and the biggest contribution to NIN DPS. The others aren't going to matter much on trash pulls (except on large pulls anyway). If they're not using them on bosses, however...

Mudra lag is probably also a culprit in some cases. Outside of Huton maintenance, the others can actually be a DPS *loss* if someone's latency issues are serious enough.

Huton is your biggest DPS increase and has a long duration. Until Armor Crush becomes available, it NEEDS to be recast. There really is no excuse for letting it fall off as it is a DPS loss in a big way if they do. Not a NIN myself but I believe it goes Huton, then whatever the situation calls for, repeat?

Thanks guys for the info it was useful. :) I play on the PS4 so I don't experience any real lag, but if mudra lag is such a big issue with the PC users why hasen't SE fixed it for PC? Are they already working on it? Cuz that sucks if u cant play ninja cuz u have mudra lag. :(

It has nothing to do with PS4 or PC, but everything to do with your internet connection and latency with the server.

I play on PC and don't have issues.

Mudra lag or not there is literally no reason not to maintain it past 54. And even before then as a 2.xx ninja I maintained it. They made it so easy that there is no excuse not to increase your dps thank to Armor break

Also, regardless of lag you still *can* maintain Huton, there is just a minor DPS loss as you clip into your GCD. Hell, *I* clip into my GCD on DRG when I double-buff between GCDs depending on the cooldowns used and it's fine.

I think you are all missing the issue that mundra lag causes, its not a case of doing slower inputs, its a case of doing them too fast and the server not picking up on it fast enough and causing you to miss and get bunnified, which really they should remove this stupid mechanic in my opinion, I only ever get this due to mundra lag and thats an issue on the poor implementations of the mechanics not my own skill as a player. And I swear if anyone says I should adapt to the situation IMA smack you, adjusting for spikes in ping or serverside issues are never an option, you cann't honestly expect a player to react to fluxuations in their internets. Anyway getting a bit side tracked here, when you do botch the ninjitsu its not that big of a deal in regards to damage output, but keeping Huton up 100% is the number one priority, then using Fuma if your unsure about stability.

Who mentioned slower input? If you are talking about where spelley mentions GDC clipping, that is a direct result of trying to compensate for Mudra input lag. Timing your inputs to a beat instead of trying to hit them all super fast can result in slight clipping, but at least you don't bunny.
