Changes in Royal Road made Spire useless on solo

Ok, I guess the change made in Royal Road was because too many people wanted to spread the effect of the drawn card for all party members, and burn an Ewer or a Spire hurts less than burn a precious Arrow (Spear is meh).

It happens that when you were soloing you could burn Spire to get the extended effect and you could just use the Spear (Would have a little use, but little is better than nothing). Now you're forced to Shuffle your Spire, with the risk of getting another Spire and loose it or waste it... or Royal Road to use some weak effect on... your chocobo???

Sure thing that when you're in a group, you could make a use of it one way or another, but switching this effect made some thing that we had little use into something that we have no use at all... Please, share your opinons. ^.^

It is what it is. Card buffs aren't very important for solo content since A) solo content is still very easy, and B) AST DPS numbers aren't high enough to get much of a benefit even if you consistently pull your ideal cards. A personal Balance is nice if you are soloing a mob group with Gravity, but otherwise the impact is fairly minimal.

Even if the cards don't have much impact solo, it would feel much better if Spire did *something.* The cards are one of the defining characteristic of the class, in that they're the main thing that differentiates it most from the other two healers. Imagine if Eos/Selene didn't have any use while soloing for SCH--that would feel pretty terrible overall I'd imagine.

That being said, there are likely bigger fish to fry when it comes to AST's overall balance.

If you've already got a good Royal Road effect, and you get AWFUL rng (as you pointed out, Spite -> Shuffle Spire) you don't have to use it, on PC you can right click the card buff, do nothing with it, not waste your royal road, and get your Draw on cooldown right away instead of waiting 15 seconds + 30 seconds. I know this isn't the issue, but it's a good trick to minimize bad rng.

NOT too sure how to do that on console though..... if you even can.

Press Select x4 times and use the directional pad to select your buff then press X to delete it. They probably should've just made a Discard ability and using it reduces Draw's CD by 5s. It's super clunky for controller users.

I dunno, until we got Deployment tactics, Eye for an Eye was pretty useless for solo. Before the patch, Fey Light had no use for SCH and I don't even remember if it had any big impact on chocobo.

Then again, SCH and WHM aren’t forced into a use it or lose it scenario like AST are. The Spire does ”do” something, but there is no benefit to AST. This is what happens when you play an RNG healer I guess.

Also on PS4 controllers, you can use the touch pad as a mouse (which sucks a lot) or press it for the same effect.

It's not like it was always useful before. Example: spire, royal road, spire.

You could use the AoE to affect you + your chocobo.

Overall the change is a plus IMO.

Or you can just use it, lol. You will not benefit from it but Draw enters on CD and you don't waste any other skill.

But I've run some dungeons now after the change and I have to say: spire and ewer are really a much better option to risk on Royal road to spread the effect to the party than risk to loose an arrow. After all, seems like a good change.

The cards represent fate. Ever had a day when you woke up and nothing worked out the way you want? Your breakfast droped on the floor, someone scrached your car and maybe your girlfrind cheated on you?. Well you drew a spire. On the other hand your dog, your mechanic and that other guy might have been happy about it. Not everything is about you.

Eye for an Eye isn't the SCH's class-defining feature, though. And when it comes to Selene's one ability being lackluster solo, SCH at least could choose to use Eos instead (who is an absolute doll for soloing treasure maps). Since AST can't choose whether or not to draw Spire, it's a different issue.
