JUST GOT TO ISHGARD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! what now?

Lvl 51 BLM. been grinding the story out since HW dropped. I returned after couple months break as a lvl 47 blm. only did up to story quest 41. So yea i returned for HW only to realize i had over 150 quests to do before i could play it. well FINALLY i've got to ishgard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 woooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what should i do now? i still have to do the tower crystal quests so i can start raids/coils. but what else as far as heavenward stuff

you can go all the way to the first dungeon, dusk vigil. and depending on your exp you can do your story quests so long as you sidequest along with it.

you can also go and unlock the new jobs, but they don't have markers on them for the quests, you have to find them yourself.

Nothing besides msq and countless side quests til 60 and new jobs

just basic lvl 51 stuff. Do the side quests in the 3.0 areas since each area has their own unique Side-Storyline Quest chain which covers lore about the area and certain NPCs.

At level 54 you should be able to obtain the Adventure Guild Side-Quest storyline covering the Doma Adventure Guild kids which will hint towards a possible future storyline (most people believe it is hinting towards Hildibrand Season 2 due to Hildy being mentioned in the side-storyline.)

If you want for some kicks you could get some people or FC members to help you burn through Coil for the Coil storyline since T1 to T12 can be blazed through with current lvl 60 gears. Except for T13 since Bahamut currently still strong enough to one shot a ilvl 180 geared player if they don't time their cooldown skills right.

Frankly, this smells like trollbait. I don't know anyone who finished the MSQ of ARR and didn't immediately want to continue in heavenward. Seems like you're trying to start a "nothing to do" or "same old, same old" flame war.

There's plenty to do, and it's obvious. Best thing is to continue MSQ and unlock Dusk Vigil... it's a sidequest in western coerthas.

so you think i bought heavensward just so i can troll? are you stupid? i made thus thread because the game has SO MUCH content and i wanted some guidelines/structure on what. to start. i want to try new job maybe new race and level fishing and do raids and get resh gear

Level, CT and coil is not needed right now (but can still be fun if you get a group), you should aim for 60 and to finish MSQ.

You mean you didn't get your "Welcome to Ishgard" welcome package and gift basket? The story quests are fun, a little bit of running around, not too bad though. Side quests aren't so bad either, until you get to those pom-pom wearing things that may make you want to strangle them.

I don't think you are a troll or anything but I do agree that if you just finished the MSQ how can you not want to immediately continue the story!? It's so good.

Like everyone said, get to work on HW stuff! Make sure to do all the quests so you don't miss any Aether Current quests, flying is game changing in quality of life.

Other things you can do: Explore Heavensward crafting, FC workshop crafting, play the market (set up shop in Ishgard, and check out the new vendors), explore (the old fashioned go there and look kind, not the sightseeing log, though you can do that too). Try out the new jobs. Start/join a linkshell or FC, RP-related or not.

Pretty much all the usual MMO stuff.

Level 60 will, of course, open up new content. Primals, PvP, etc etc.

FWIW, during Early Access I spent 4 hours just plain exploring Churning Mists. All the new zones have lots of hidden nooks to explore.

edit: Oh, if you haven't already... go unlock things like the different /dances and the challenge log.

This is not really a spoiler just a heads up for when u reach it in the future, but at that point u wish u had quit the game beforehand xD
gl its brutal even for a warrior of light.

First off, Welcome to Ishgard!! Second enjoy the view and the epic music. Also if I where you I would do MSQ events until they geared me out of whatever it is you are wearing. Then I would go back get Crystal Tower raids done and the EX primals done :D. This is by no means necessary but I LOVE lore and it seems they mention some things here and there about things you may have done in the past. Coils of Bahaumut....well I only got to turn 9 and got stumped as I do not have a static. so id get those done too if I was able. IF you where on my server id be happy to guide you through the nice jungle of sweet content. Also, be wary of Moogles inability to do ANYTHING for themselves (lol)

Here is what you should do:
1. Continue on with the MSQ, there are plenty to do once you arrive there, and you have to do MSQ or you cannot unlock any other quests (which is now MSQ tied for opening them - basically they put all the fetch dumb stuffs to side quest for lore purposes). Make sure to unlock the three new jobs. Also you now have to go back to your "Job NPC" every 2 levels to unlock new abilities, make sure you do not forget to do this.
2. Keep going with MSQ until you reach the third area of the game, the Dravanian Forest, by this a lot of side quests on the previous starter two areas will be open. Do them. Unlock your first dungeon, Dusk Vigil which is OPTIONAL quest, not part of main story.
3. I am hoping you also unlock all previous endgame dungeons at 50 (via patch 2.1-2.55), if not, go do them all, 15 of them, this way you can unlock high level roulette. Do this and daily roulette trials to supplement your XP. Also Poetic tomes are still good to gear all your other alts so they can have the blue gears level 120 when those jobs hit level 50.
4. There is also levequest NPC in Foundation, check and do them to supplement daily XP. The nearby NPC will also let you unlock the quest for Crafting level 50, for scripts, flag this and go back to Mor'Dhonna to complete it. Once you are level 53, assuming you have unlock Hunt participation, you can flag the quest in Forgotten Knight Inn, and do your daily hunt mark (also do the next quest at 56, 59 and 60).
5. Unlock flying nodes, on each areas, they are crucial for hunt, gathering, and questing. Sea of Clouds you will not be able to unlock all until level 57 when the second half of the areas open for you.
6. MSQ is pretty straight forward, less fluffs. Keep at it. Every time new areas unlocked for you, do the side quests, especially the ones that give you HQ gears, materia and flying node. It's great to supplement your daily XP (aside from hunt marks, daily roulettes, levequest and FATEs).
7. Most gears you can get from dungeons, so save your money, do the dungeons run for your gears. Avoid overpriced gears in market board. You can also check nearby NPC on new ares that sells appropriate gears for your level, these are not great, normal quality, but it gets the job done in case you are selling the HQ gears on market board or for your alts. Unless you are doing gathering and crafting, which you have to make your own gears. Crafting takes longer now, so is gathering, but selling materials are great for gills, so you can "farm" those leather dropped from those dragon type mobs. Check your market board, gelato type mob also drop good source of materials to sell.
8. When you reach level 60, you now have access to Law Tomes, farm these using daily roulette, no rush at all. By now you should have plenty of Centurio Seals, close to 500 or more. You can buy upgrade items from the NPC in Forgotten Knight inn, to upgrade your Law gears, focus on buying and upgrading your weapon, then body piece. You should just upgrade 2-3 accessories, mainly because you will get level 190 accessories later from Alexander normal mode.
9. Once you get level 170 gears (which should take about one week, if you farm casually - and upgrade a few pieces only). You can now do the Alexander Normal mode, need to unlock this via quest.
10. Welcome to the theme park, here are your options: Law Tomes for gearing alts, Esoteric (capped weekly) for your main job, Alexander Normal for mix and match between main and alt jobs, and finally Alexander Savage gears for the hardcore BiS.

Warning:
To avoid the notorious DF frustration, may want to start doing it with a few friends or anyone in your FC. Things are not getting better at endgame either. All jobs now change slightly at level 60, some changed drastically, make sure you have plenty of time to practice and research your new rotations and adapt your play style. Get ready to hit your first massive hurdle in the form of level 57 Bismarck Trial, most players will start rage quitting here. Then level 60 dungeons, if you get a bunch of new players, get ready for over an hour long run. Alexander Normal is the other "vote abandon" fiasco.

Making quick and dirty gils:
As we are all aware, most players are lazy. Take advantage of this. Check your market board prices. You can make millions in a few days by selling items you buy at vendor and selling them at the market board. I am not pointing which, but it should be very obvious, especially in NA/Euro servers. Or you can farm leather stuffs, and sell them, while leveling your chocobo and exploring, doing your daily hunt marks.

If doing the main scenario to unlock Heavensward content teaches you anything, it should be that the main scenario is the most important thing in the game and always your first priority, so continue with that. If you ignore it for months again then there will be hundreds of quests backlog to catch up on again to unlock certain content. The story is really good, if you follow the lore then it is its own reward.

"What to do" As in where to start. Is there gear I need to get first? Something I should grind first? Visit first? Do first?
This is a common question when making it to new patches and to end game, it's a valid question that simply means "Where should I start?".

How about instead of attacking, calling people trolls, and telling them to go play something else. You ask for clarification or just learn standard MMO lingo.

On topic: I'm jelly! I literally just started doing MSQs last night been up all night and I'm just now at 2.3 MSQs *sigh* I left when i90 was the highest item level.

Congratulations!! It will go by fast if you do the following:

1. Spend only no more than 90 minutes max on MSQ, mostly are fetch quests + talk to npc + check things out. But doing them in long stretch will make you want to hate this game. You should be able to clear them in about a week or ten days doing this. Each patches is about 5 hours long or less. Up to you if you want to burn five hours a day to clear each patch though.
2. Unlock the other 15 dungeons. You should mix this up, clear 2-3 dungeons if possible a day, grab any friends or FC members along with you for the first time bonus.
3. Ilevel bump tips: ask any of your FC members or friends, who have access to Ishgard, to buy you normal quality accessories level 115 ASAP now from vendor in Ishgard stores. Yes you will get level 110 weapon, gears, and accessories down the road on MSQ, but you still have to clear those dungeons, etc, by getting normal quality stuffs earlier, it makes doing them so much easier. Do not pay inflated price in the market board, but do check the gears + accessories, sometimes undercutter may put things below vendor prices.
4. To avoid massive burn out, mix it up with doing daily roulette stuffs, leveling other lower level jobs that you may overlook for your cross class. And doing your crafting and gathering. Plus the usual weekly challenge on FATE, levequest, etc...
5. You will have to do those Hard Mode original three primal for main story quest, yes they will not let you get away from this, so may as well unlock your Relic Weapon quests, and get them all done for level 90 glamour weapon :)
6. Make sure you max up your grand company standing and able to unlock Hunt Board. You will use this feature more in 3.0. so get that done if you have not done it yet.

You do want this unlocked, for duty roulette high level, which will be a good source of XP later on for level 50-51, as well as farming Law tomes. Basically at level 50, you want get your level 170 starter gears to do most other things. You can get Law tomes doing daily roulette on: expert, high level, leveling dungeons, PvP, and trials.

Also the other reasons, you already paid for this contents. Some of the dungeons are gorgeous. They give gears you can convert into grand company seals. You want achievements. As well as getting used to mechanics, learning them as you go, and memorize them. All the mechanics will be reused later on with some variations. So it will be good to know how to deal with them. On another note, level 51-59 dungeons are rather easy to figure out the mechanic for first timers. At least two of these dungeons will be part of the main story missions, so yeah might as well get them done.

You also get poetic tomes, which is still the best gears for level 120, and will last you till level 53-55 dungeons. So it is a good investment to run the endgame stuffs, farm the poetics, get the gears for any of your alts jobs at level 50.

Also make sure you register the expansion on your Mog Station account to be able to get past level 50 :)

Just gonna add quick tips on gearing after you reach level 60:

1. Make sure you have been diligent doing your daily hunt marks from level 53,56,59, and now finally Elite Weekly Hunt mark. You should have at least 500 centurio seals or close to it by this time.
2. As fresh level 60, check the vendor gears in Azys Lla, you want to hit level 145, accessories you can get from amber vendor near the Levequest NPC in Foundation - I am hoping you amass 10-15 by now doing your levequest. Grab 1-2 accessories, only if needed to bump overall 145 gears level. Market Board is another options but it is generally overpriced, not worth it.
3. Unlock the 2 endgame dungeons, go run them. Do your daily roulettes high level, leveling, and trials. You should have decent amount of Law tomestone, run another endgame till you are able to buy your weapon.
4. Law Tomes Gears is your basic gears to let you enjoy the endgame content. It is bare minimum. Which one to get first? I would get at least a weapon, body, and 2-3 accessories, maybe belt. This should take maybe 3-4 days if you only do roulette and extra runs of the dungeons (and not grinding till you want to puke). Use your centurio seals to upgrade body and weapon, or if you want, you can upgrade 3 accessories instead to 180. The 2 endgame dungeons will give you plenty of 160 gears, they are good in between gears while you upgrade the rest of your gears to 170.
5. In about one week after you reach 60, you should have a good mixture of level 160, 170 and 180 gears. You probably be able to meet the minimum for Alexander normal. Unlock it, and do it, you will get at least 1-3 accessories level 190. This is why I suggest to only get 2-3 accessories from Law Tomes since you will get the others from Alexander.
6. After 10 days and a few Alexander run on week 1, you probably at 175-178. You can try the extreme primals now if you want, for your new weapon.
7. Esoteric gears + weapon are much slower to obtain, pick which main jobs you want to spend this on. Probably body, weapon, and leg first. Even without esoteric gears, you probably will be able to hit level 180 in 2-3 weeks playing casually, mix and matching Alexander 190 gears and upgraded Law gears to 180.
