After seeing the horror story thread, I want a place for healers to share their stories for when they stood strong and said 'Damn I love being a healer!' I don't have one cause currently been tank focused here in ffxiv.

Me on WHM, and 3 FCmates, PLD, NIN, and BLM running AV. In the first room our BLM DC'd. We decided to clear the first room while we waited--then the first boss, then the next set of trash, next thing I know we're at second boss. Now our NIN is brand new and not very attentive to mechanics, but hey let's give it a shot.
I wish I'd counted because I must've Raised the NIN a good 6 times. Our PLD knew the fight but it went on for so long that he started getting a bit sloppy so I had to raise him 2-3 times. At one point I was hurting for mana so bad from this Raising that I just kited one-eyed willy around the room until I had a good 2/3 of my mp back. One shot the boss (eventually).
We continued to complete the run just the 3 of us. On the last boss the adds were heavily dependant on Holy, but the second boss fight was legendary.
Every single time I save someone's arse with Essential Dignity or Nocturnal Benefic in Frontlines.
2 manning Titan HM as a WHM with a tank in DR, because for some reason the majority of people, even at 60, still can't dodge bombs for shit and floor tank most of the encounter post heart phase.
7 commendations, feels good. :3
As Astrologian and there's a huge boss aoe and I don't have to do anything because HoT heals everyone up.
Or when Tank is heavily hit and DPS is and I heal both up with Synastry.
AWWW YEAH!
Honestly, the times where I most feel like I love being a healer is when I'm not currently healing, but have to watch someone else do it D:
The moments I love is when you time a heal perfectly and it seems like a massive amount of damage almost never happened.
Exactly, especially when you hear the "CHK!" sound of building the Limit Break by healing someone out of critical HP. My favorite times doing this were in T5, landing Cure II as Death Sentence chunks the MT, but before the Infirmity debuff takes effect. Pure satisfaction there.
Every time I manage to time Cure3 correctly for a boss' burst damage (Megaflare, A1 when the bosses land back on the floor, Titan EX, etc).
When I'm able to react fast enough to SC a SS on someone about to get smacked hard x.x Doubley so when I'm able to look out for my co-healer (Camaraderie! Healers untie!)
As for individual moments.... I don't think I do anything particularly special to warrant a 'big damn healer moment' story x.x; *Is boring OTL*
every time I see everyone is dead and the boss is at 1%. I begin my Lightspeed-Dots-Kite-Self Heal-Pray routine and it actually works out.
Spoiler, it usually doesn't....
Just getting out of a bad situation and getting the kill usually. Most of the party is dead and you start the process of raising people and keeping people alive then suddenly the whole group is back on it's feet and buffed and you can push to the finish line. It's a rush when people take huge damage and debuffs some die and you save who you can then pick up the rest. That's the fun of healing.
My favorite part about being a WHM is critting 6 procs of Cure III for 7k each. It's godly. <3
I'd have to say, lately, mine was in A3 when the other healer DC'd and I solo healed the last 40% of the encounter on my WHM.
Way back in the day when titan hm was the thing, we were doing a carry run and I was on my scholar, after the heart died our whm dies and so does the person we are carrying (no loss on that one) , so I res the whm at next available swiftcast, then the whm (who uses a wireless keyboard) keyboard dies while strafing from mechanics, runs right off the edge lol and i got to finish solo healing it for the 1st time.... lol even the guy we were carrying says "lol healer said f*** yall, im out" ... link to it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5MdwyuYcwA
Oh hey perfect thread for something that just happened earlier today!
Decided to help out some static members farm for a few items from Alex. We wind up in normal A2 and tank buddy pulls before double checking that everyone was in the boss room, which unfortunately was not the case since we had a new healer who was still back in the hallway watching a cutscene -- in my buddy's defence, the SMN was hollering at him to pull because Akh Morn or something was about to wear off. But what resulted was me solo healing the entire fight, which is actually something I do often enough since my healing partner usually does the gobwalker, but even so there was always that security blanket in knowing that if I were to ever muck up, my partner could always hop off and help out. So it was a really nice feeling when everyone in the group were wowed by what I did, especially when I zoned out and saw that I got all available commendations.
Kiting Alliances on my AST and living because PvP tunnel vision. Feels good being unkillable.
I know this is probably not a very spectacular story since it's only Titan normal, but as a newbie healer it felt pretty awesome as it was the most difficult thing I've done so far. ^^
I'm scholar, Tank goes off to the edge at about half way in, and as we proceed to 3-man the rest and not wipe, he goes "dayum!" Must also commend the two dps since they were very good at dodging stuff, which helped a lot.
And then the very next run I came in progress to a newbie tank who could not keep aggro to save his life, so Titan bouncing all over the place, everyone getting plenty of damage. One (more) wipe, the next try we had him down. It kinda felt cool to be the one to finish it when the previous healer had given up. ^^
My favourite healer moment recently was in A1. Critical Adloquium deployed on the party during the AoE attack and watching the entire party take 0 damage. (:
Kind of situational, but I guess even non crits with Sacred Soil give us amazing mitigation.
The time an cc member as paladin (60) and myself as scholar (56) two manned (unsynced) Garuda hard mode. It wasn't the hardest thing to heal, but the challenge of keeping us both alive while being forced to put in every onz of dps that I could was a lot of fun and made the fight very dynamic.
Also all of those times where the tank(s) die and you are left tanking the boss, raising the tank(s), and healing the dps who are actively walking into cleaves and aoe. A lot of dps are smart like that.
Two-manning Snowcloak for tokens with my hubby - me as WHM him as DRG. No wipes, no near-deaths and he finally got his last token he needed for the Wyrm set.
Also healing a Dark Knight to full HP after he popped Living Dead when he grabbed one too many mobs in Neverreap. I didn't have Bene either due to using it in the previous boss fight after he got the red icon of impending DC and took one too many hits to the face in quick succession while the NIN ate an AOE. Tank actually stopped and clapped for me for keeping everyone alive through such an accidentally massive pull and for countering Living Dead so quickly.
The impressive bit? That was my first time dealing with it.
Ravana HM today.
Me AST and a WHM as healers.
After the phase transition half of the group dead, myself included and we assume it's a wipe.
But then the WHM rezzed me and started rezzing others as well. Once i got enough mp i started helping and we got the whole group up and killed Ravana (my first kill btw)
So my hat to our glorious WHM savior: Lendoc Zumani
