I'm from the 1.0 era and already had my dragoon on 50 before the servers closed and reopened for 2.0. I haven't really touched it all, but today I decided to level it, just to figure out I still have to do all lancer/dragoon quests while I already have all those skills.
Normally I'd see a point to this, but only if I didn't have the skills you get from the quests, nor anything else like the dragoon crystal. I'm basicly required to do the quests t to get the skills I already have...
Couldn't SE just take away everything you get from all the lnc/drg quests? It kind of grinds my gears. I'm basicly a Drg without being a actual dragoon....

They explained this at launch but good luck finding that thread. Basically had something to do with your character data. Technically your drg did not exist pre 2.0... But it did... Understood? Me neither

Your character existed in 1.0. When the game relaunched, they made new characters with your items on the 2.0 servers. You are essentially a level 50 "new" char as far as the game is concerned.

As Kret mentioned, this was explained just prior to launch on the old Lodestone which has now been shut down - it's due to the fact they completely redesigned class and Job abilities, meaning the old abilities you learned no longer exist, and thus you have to learn new Job abilities by undertaking the Job quests.
Given the fact the DRG Job quest storyline is now also indirectly connected to Heavensward's story, there is also a story reason for undertaking the DRG Job quests in particular. -

Some quests in 1.0 had to change entirely for 2.0 due to their association with the Seventh Umbral Era (Monk, here's looking at you). Therefore, the stories had to be reworked and you only HAVE to experience them if you wanted to obtain Gae Bolg or the level 52-60 actions you will later obtain in 3.0.

Hey I had 4 at 50 when the servers went down. Had to do it for all 4 of them. Also had every crafter and Gatherer to 50. I know people who had gotten every class/job to 50 prior to shut down. If you only needed to do 1 you got off easy.

"...thats no woman...ITS A MAN BABY YEAAA!" and the MRD questline was so full of chopped up pirate talk, you needed a decoder to make any sense of it, now its all tied to Limsa's mrd guild and a clan of hellsguard that remind me of Kilik's story from Soul Caliber.Quote:
