Why can't the DoH/L gear be made usable for DoW/M for glamour purpose?

Just seems somewhat wastefull to restrict them.

And the argument that it isn't made for fighting isn't that good considering the emperors new wardrobe and certain other gear such as snow man hat and gloves.

Heck the gear would even be more valuable to craft seeing how DoM/DoW can't get them otherwise.

Same reason DoW and DoM gear is restricted, it's just the weird glamour system SE's built. I really hope they remove the class/job restrictions on sets sometime soon.

The only DoH/L gear that is restricted is the AF stuff. That's because they want each class in the game to have a unique look at least once per expansion. Locking one set of gear to the class makes that the iconic look. You can see a person wearing that armor in a promotional video, or in other SE product, and you know "oh, that's a FFXIV weaver". You can see other players wearing a certain coat, and you know what they are currently doing.

While it sucks that you can't wear whatever you want, I think ensuring each class has an iconic look DOES add something to the aesthetic of the game.

I'd really love to glamour my DRK sword as a saw though...>_>

I think it's particularly wasteful since the Goldsmith AF is totally the Locke Cole Outfit. Why can't you be a Ninja and wear it? So wasteful!

To change it, the gear have to be "all classes". And then there is no reason to craft more than 1 DoL and 1 DoH set instead for every class an own set. Not only would WAR running around in LTW set, but also WVR in ALC set, or MIN in FSH set. It will be like every DoM class running aound in SMN AF2 set.

DOL/DOH probably has more cross class glamourable gear then DOW/DOM. Have you not seen any roes running around in serpentskin fringe boots and star spangled subligars/pink panties yet? As felis said the job specific gear is like a crafters/gatherers AF.

Although with the new red scrips and the low caps on obtaining them (not taking into account how hard they actually are to get which no one knows yet) id love if I could use one set of crafter gear for all my crafting jobs, erm I mean glamour yea glamour.

This argument doesn't really hold any water, by virtue of the multi-class system... If a player leveled weaver, got the weaver AF, and then glamoured it onto their tank set... another player could STILL look at them and say, "That person is a Weaver". >_>

No problem with that either. :) Everyone should be able to glamour whatever they want. If you earned it (bought it with tomes, from the AH, with GC seals, got it in a drop, whatever), you should be able to glamour it.

I think that, for the most part, they shouldn't let class restrictions on gear also restrict glamour (except maybe in some cases like AF gear)

Especially when you see NPCs of certain classes wearing things they shouldnt be able to as that class

I don't see how that would be weirder/any more confusing than all of the bikini tanks I see running around.

It wouldn't need to be changed ti all classes it would just need to be unlocked as "projectable"

So the restriction remains yet you can project it onto other classes.

Having inquired into this back when glamour was first introduced, glamour won't show if you switch to a class different than the intended glamour. If you switch out of weaver, original item is displayed instead of the weaver glamour. Otherwise you would have scholars wearing white mage robes, and warriors dressed as paladins, which doesn't happen.

You know what would be nice? If they could be worn by any class, but only conferred stats to a class you specialize in.

You know, that might make specialization mean... something. Besides getting a handful of skills that all suck.

I know that. I was arguing that class/job shouldn't matter.

What the OP says would be FUN. As you all should know, FUN is frowned upon in all MMO games, or more probably all computer games. It may be severely frowned upon, as in <insert here the MMO game you hate most>, or more mildly frowned upon, as in FF14, but frowned upon it is. No escaping that. :P
