Suggestion for Assize?

hello. i think it might be useful to separate what gets used depending on if Cleric Stance is in-effect or not.

like for example...

Cleric Stance on = damage only.
without Cleric Stance = healing only.


i think this change would probably be most useful for solo-play. you might not necessarily want to use it for damage, or healing. you may want to save it purely for the MP restoration. however, you may also have sleeping enemies, or nearby enemies you have yet to engage.

all-in-all, healing doesn't do much good while in Cleric Stance. same thing the other way around with trying to do damage without Cleric Stance.

So you want this spell to do less?? Wtf?

it will do the same thing. it will just depend on whether or not if Cleric Stance is in-effect. would you try to DPS without Cleric Stance? would you try to heal with Cleric Stance? i don't think is typical behavior, so... why not change which portion of the action is used depending on your current usage of Cleric Stance?

anyhow, i never meant for it to sound like a must-have, or something. it was just a thought.

I can understand the idea that you might want that free insta heal while soling without grabbing more monsters, but it's not bad for it to do both damage and heal no matter what. That small amount of damage or healing is totally free, and getting rid of it weakens the spell for little return other than making it easier to use safely.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

I really like Assize as it is, it's a really great oh shit button when I run oom. Please don't change it. :c

You are actually asking for Assize to do less, because regardless of the stance you're in, it will have both the heal and damage component. If you make Assize based on your stance, you're removing the healing component with Cleric Stance on and the damage component with Cleric Stance off.

With that being said, I understand what you're asking for as I had a small issue using Assize last night in Bis EX due to reflect damage in P2. Despite this, I do not feel this suggestion is necessary and Assize is perfectly fine as is.

Yeah I don't get this. I use Assize 90% of the time with Cleric Stance on because I want it either to do big time damage to a lot of mobs, or I want to recover MP or more times both like when spamming holy to take down a large group of mobs, then finish them off with Assize and get some MP back quick. Generally if I'm not in CS and using it because I want to refresh MP, I haven't found that the party really has needed healing. Maybe because I don't rely on it that much yet, but typically I'm using it for the MP refresh, so even if there's only 1 boss I still flip to CS for the damage it does. Not sure why you'd want it to be one or the other, even if the healing is weaker in CS and vice versa, it's still doing something at least which is better than nothing.

O_O;; It's hard to believe that someone is having a problem killing/ run away from mobs at lvl 60 solo-playing, so that he/she wants to nerf the skill for rest of us??

I have to pitch in with a vote against it.

I understand it. We have to be careful with Assize since it has huge range and can tag stuff... But we have plenty of other abilities that cover every individual aspect of Assize. What makes Assize interesting and unique and fun is these things coming together. So I like it as it is.

Where exactly are you seeing this? There's nothing under the ability details that says anything about needing to have targets be in combat with you. It specifically says "Deals unaspected damage to all nearby enemies with a potency of 300." Just tested it, that statement isn't correct. Stood right under a level 31 Buffalo in Costa Del Sol where I happen to be right now, flipped to Cleric Stance and hit Assize, and it instantly did 1798 damage to it and killed it in one hit. It wasn't in combat with me or even attacking me at all.

He was suggesting a fix, not saying that it already does it.

That's not a fix that's a nerf lol.

It was never designed for solo play in the first place. Solo levelling is 10% of the whole game and you want to nerf a skill just for that?

i was never suggesting a nerf. and there is much more to solo-play then just leveling. either way, it was just a thought to make the skill easier to use by giving the player more control over their actions. if people don't like it, that is okay. and again, i wasn't complaining about the skill. no worries.

I dont think assize or holy should hit mobs you aren't in combat with.

I think the idea is being careful with Assize and being aware of its radius. Besides, in most dungeons the tank pulls everything within range of the party anyway...

I have never had this problem. On dungeon pulls typically anything THAT close to you would be pulled. There's so many runs where lots of weaker enemies all start to appear, like in I forget the name but the first level 60 dungeon as part of the Heavensward quest, that factory thing. Near the end you get so many mobs all coming up, that Assize and Holy would be super ineffective if you had to have them attacking you first to work.

Wait, people use sleep/repose on level 56+ dungeons? Am i on a bizzarre eorzea where people don't spam aoes on every pull bigger than 2 mobs?

You mean people actually use repose/sleep beyond the dragon boss on brayflox normal? XD
