There is a checkpoint system why does it not work when faust is killed?
hmm...
might be because back in 2.0, a lot of people did a skip for the ADS on turn 1. they might have changed it so people can't avoid fighting faust.
That makes sense. Still kinda lame. It's not like he drops anything.

Checkpoints are in place if there are shortcuts - there's no shortcut....

Wait what? My group killed Faust once and didn't have to again after our wipes to Oppressor. Am I missing something here?
well i think the reason is SE removed trash on A2 savage. think A3 is the same. no trash either since it was simple trash. faust is actually not trash but a miniboss. i think he was left so players who enter savage will see right away if they even stand a chance currently. if you cannot even beat faust you may aswell not raid until you get normal mode gear and i200 weapon finished. he acts as a gate.
tough its totall bullshit that he respawns when you reenter on the same week. tough its not a BIG problem if you can meet the dps faily he takes less than 5 mins to kill each time. if you are borderline with dps you need more gear or get better at your jobs. thats all you can do.
not sure of him respawning beeing a bug or intended. could be both actually currently.
I think it is intended so you can't beat faust with a gimmicky grouyp and then change classes for the boss.
