So, I hate to open up this can of worms again, but....

Now seems like as good a time as ever, with the introduction of Alexander Savage. Seeing the posts about how strict the DPS checks are for even the easiest trash boss of this raid (Faust), I feel the need for an officially supported PERSONAL parser is greater than ever. I do not want anything that shows me the DPS of any other group members, as I know the kind of trolling that could start in this game. As a BLM/SMN main playing on PS4 however, I can't help but feel that I am being held back from progressing as a player by not being able to actually see how much progress I am making. I should not have to beg my friends to parse for me, and if the parsers are as inaccurate as the developers claim, we should not be forced to trust inaccurate third party programs simply to attempt to get better at what we do. All I want, all that the people in my situation want, is a tool to measure our progress, not to "kick the scrubs" from our groups. I know this is a very touchy subject, but at the same time I realize that if we want anything to change, we need to speak up. Feel free to post your opinions whether you agree with me or not, just please keep things civil :)

A personal parser would be a great way to gauge your performance.

One of many reasons damage dealer should not be a role in any video game. If people need external tools just to play the game effectively, the mechanic should be tossed, not preserved as it has been. Plus, DPS parsers have their limits, and fools will try to gauge a particular DD's effectiveness when they know nothing about the class or situation they are in. For instance, you aren't going to get perfect, unobstructed DPS on a boss like Ravana. Especially with directional damage (flank, rear, etc).

I'll take a personal parser but anything beyond that allows seeing other people's dps is just asking for trouble. People abuse them kind of parser like no tomorrow. And don't give me the whole, "it not to kick scrubs" line. Very rarely do people use parser for the right reasons.

Of course. But let's say that you run Ravana and die to DPS checks 3 times. If you parsed yourself all 3 times and see a gradual improvement in the numbers for the same exact fight, you know you are making progress.

Something at the corner of the screen that shows my active dps would be lovely. It would really help me tighten up my rotation to keep that number as high as I can. Right now it's just a slightly vague sense of "I should be doing something right now, I'm sure of it".

The group wide parser I can understand may lead to issues and in this particular game may not always be an ideal tool (Things like a singing Bard or a Black Mage who has to manage mechanics because everyone else is melee or doesn't know how will both put out numbers below what would be ideal on paper but are still contributing to the fight in a very real way)

Also would be nice but not as helpful as a constant parser to help us tighten rotations and gauge our own performance.

Speaking as a wizard I can wreak unspeakable carnage on a dummy, but put me in a situation where I might have to move (IE any raiding situation except maybe Cuff) and things change.

They already have the coding in game, it just needs to be modified. At the end of every PvP match they show total damage dealt. It wouldn't be hard for them to have it do the same elsewhere. Simple enough to figure out the DPS on our own if we know fight duration and total damage done.

Yes we should have this, and we should have had it a long time ago.

Just get a PC, or ask a friend who has a PC to use his "pen and paper".

SE has posted server first clears of people clearly using a parser. The tools exist, should you choose to use them.

A personal parser is a safe choice. if you can only see your Dps this feature will lead only to personal improvement and not kick issue.

While this is true, the official stance is that they're not allowed and punishment will be dished out if you're caught openly discussing it. Posts on the forums have been deleted if it mentioned or showed anything remotely related to them.

I fully support personal dps meters in this game as a ps4 player. It would help sooooooo much.

Re-read their official statement on this. Action is taken when harassment occurs. Productive discussions regarding DPS seem to pass their muster.

Officially you aren't allowed to use 3rd party software, which includes parsers. The devs just wink conspicuously whenever they say that, but technically they're still not allowed, harassment or otherwise. Unofficially, they won't enforce it unless harassment is involved.

Like at the end of a PvP match please!

why should we not be able to see everyones dps and kick the low dps when low dps is making the whole group fail?


If a healer doesnt heal, you can kick them and if a tank doesnt get mobs under control and have them running around, you kikc them as well, so i want to kick dps that dont do their job.

afaik the Dev build has a built in parser...so is there....

A healer not healing and a tank not tanking is one thing, kicking a dps because they aren't doing the dps YOU want is abuse. There are people who will abuse parsing to the point where if someone even slightly doing 50 less then the rest of the group, "Your a scrub" and there the kick. That is abuse in my books. Someone doing slightly less and kicking them is retarded, someone doing a WHOLE lot less then the rest isn't. But since people can't treat a parser the right way it should only be given to see your own dps, not others.

There has to be a better way for dps to judge their performance. What that may be I dont know.

Because the reason for wanting pasers should not be so we can exclude others from grouping with us without even giving them a chance to improve. Parsers should be used as tools to improve, not to weed out the scrubs. SE does not want us abusing eachother and excluding people from groups, but giving us personal parsers that allow us to judge our own progress is something that they might one day agree with.

But how many times have a tank or healer been kicked for not "doing their job properly" before anyone has even tried to offer constructive advice?

Let's stop with the double standards please; DPS are not immune to some method of gauging their performance simply because there's more than one of them that can "pick up the slack".

Parsers being allowed doesn't mean harassment will suddenly be allowed. Just throwin that out there as general purpose information.

Im pretty sure this abuse that can be reported ie kicking someone for a reason other than whats listed on the kick message box (offline, afk, etc). Being bad shouldnt be a kickable offense in df.

If it's preventing the group from clearing then it most certainly does qualify as a kickable offense.

You can leave if you dont like another player's performance in df.

That's a great Idea. I really need to see how my dragoon is doing. The only DPS parameter that I have is the aggro lines in the party UI.

I want a PERSONAL parser too.

I disagree with "so is everything". Putting random people from different servers who will probably never see each other again into a group opens the situation to a high amount of abuse. Theres little to no accountability and people can and do abuse this situation. Do you read the forums? We see way too many theads about getting kicked after a wipe or two.

Because a group parser could be used as a tool to interfere with df parties staying together.

Being more unforgiving, wouldn't just stay in raids, other content will be affected as well, making the community more hostile to new players, learning parties, and non hardcore play.

Your first 2 sentences seem to contradict each other. Also the forums do not represent a remotely large population of the game, nor their experiences. All of this doesn't really matter though, because I still don't understand how any of this relates to your original statement lol

So let's try this again: If one person is directly causing the group to wipe, why should I leave instead of kicking them?

Since when kicking people to their poor performance ever a thing? Since ever... The only thing the parser will show is concrete numbers, rather than visually seeing their performance. Hell, most PF are already excluding BRD and MCH in the group lol, before even kicking them due to their low numbers, they're not even included.

The "abuse" you claim was never about abuse. If a DD can't output dmg to surpass DPS Check phases, then he/she deserves the boot. If a tank/healer can't perform to where they keep the party alive, then they deserve the boot. This concept was never new... why get butthurt about it now?

I am and always have been for personal parsers. Mostly because they dont really cause many problems, if anything they help with player testing and feedback. If someone wants to use them for themselves, I say let them. Worse that can happen is we get cookie cutter x-skills and rotations ... which we already have.

Would love to have a personal parser.
