Balmung, Gilgamesh, Leviathan and Behemoth are very populated NA servers.
Correct me if I'm wrong or mention others though.
Because making the population of already over-populated servers higher is such a good idea...
Do you at least have a good reason to transfer to a populated one?!
im not saying i want to go somewhere extremely populated but a bit more populated then where I'm at. well square should really start publishing that information so we could balance worlds out.
As you are a clear example of - publishing this information would have the EXACT opposite effect on server population.
People would mainly aim for the over-populated servers, the lower populated ones would then slowly indeed become dead.
I really don't understand what issue you can have on Lamia though...
why can't there just be one super big server for all na why do we need so many worlds in one data center?
Because then places like Revenant's Toll and Idylshire would not just drop you to 30fps but to 10.
And because there would then have to be instances for all the somewhat crowded areas, which would make hunting impossible and doing fates very annoying.
Not to mention that changing the architecture of the servers after years the game has been out is literally impossible.
Just to be clear - WHY do you want to transfer to a more populated server? What makes you feel like your server is "dead"? Long queue times? Believe me, the populated servers are no better. If you're seeing hour-long queues on your server, you'll see them on a populated server, too.
As has been said, none of the FFXIV servers are dead, so whatever problem it is you think will be fixed by moving, probably won't be.

The server stress isn't so much of an issue, what is an issue would be the queue times. When ARR was released (after the servers were changed years after the game came out) the unexpected demand led to people staying online permanently to avoid the queues logging back in, which meant no-one else could log in. This would happen again.
someone told me there was a site that showed sever population so there is not one?
balmung and gilgamesh are 100% full. others like excalibur and leviatahan are pretty full too
ive always heard lamia is pretty big too though.
not sure what your problem there is
Well, it's a fair bet that those worlds that are regularly limited in terms of character creation, are also the more populated worlds.
I've only ever heard of a site trying to scrape that data off character searches on the Lodestone. I'm not sure the data would be very high quality or accurate.

It's showing people with the Veteran Rewards, but I'm pretty sure the first numbers column is whatever standard of "active" character that survey the person did went by.
"Critera same as the last time, must be above level 21. Any changes to HP/mount/minion/gear counts character as active."
Use this to search individual worlds:
