I have been worried about this since the moment they announced the egi glamour thing they are going to add. And I got to say this right now before it's released.
If you guys add any of those egi galmour/skins to be sold in the cash shop I will hate you forever.
I have supported the game and company since 1.0 but my opinion of them has been dropping for a while and a good amount of that came when they added the cash shop. Why can they say that giving us more free retainers is difficult because of the server stress but they fail to include that paying for more retainers is totally cool.
I'm sure it is hard on the servers with only 4 retainers but get this, I only have 2 retainers because I refuse to give them more money for things that should be included in game. A game we pay to play already. 4 is not the default yoshi
I know it's been argued about already and everyone who bought retainers and anything else could care less but I'm the only one missing out by choosing not to buy more. I understand a company is gonna do what they are gonna do to make money but in my mind there's a limit before it just come across as greedy. And then my opinion of the company drops.
So with the cash shop and all the various lies that have been told to us over the years and the lack of communication, even though they boast about listening to the community, my opinion of the company can't go any lower if they decide to put the egis in the cash shop.
I love the game and have played it every day for years and will continue to play but just know that from my point of view, it's not about the fans, it's not about the community or the players, it's about the money. That's not to say I don't appreciate all the hard work you all do to make the game and as community reps to manage the forums. Those are two different things
I don't need a response from the community or the devs, I'm just giving them my feedback

When I heard that you might be able to glamour from your retainer I could see why they thought like this, "we'll build a glamour log and it'll just cost you $2-16 a month to maintain"... xD.
The Egi glamour does sound like something they might try, I certainly hope not as well. At least, at least, make it available in game first (or continuously). -

A more likely scenario is that they'll release egi glamour in game, and after a while, release some more on cash shop. Or they can be really evil and tie it to seasonal events... imagine, egi glamoured to bombs!

And I'd be pissed. That's not fair to SMN's who were excitied to think new Egi's would be released in 3.0 when they said they might of put them in...
but didn't get new pets, and when we come to somewhat of a compromise....they release it in CS.

I can answer your question about retainers though, OP. With a paid for service, only about 5-10% of players will pay for extra retainers. So if there's 4,000,000 players, that means only 400,000 extra retainers (assuming that 10% buys 1 each). But if they gave everyone an extra retainers, that's 4,000,000 extra retainers... 10 times as much. So yes, their explanation makes sense. -

We got a crapton of new items plus three new jobs. Some gear has stupid job requirements and you can't share them like pre-lvl50. It's a glamour thing and I think some of the more "special" ones will end up in the cash shop sooner or later.
This isn't a matter of "if" anymore, it's a matter of "when."
So either we have to suck it up and pay around 5$ worth of virtual items, or we keep using the "ugly" egis. Either way, its similar to buying wizard hats on a certain MOBA game; it won't change how you play, just how you look. -

I honestly expect to see potential egi-skins in the cash shop.
As for the cash shop itself, it's surprisingly light on cosmetic options compared to other games, I wouldn't be surprised if they expand it. -

So for me, and with my opinion of the company having been droping for years, if the egis become a cash shop item in some form or fashion, wether it's after 5-6 egis are in game already and then more are just considered extras to be on the cash shop, I'm not ok with that. I don't want that to happen and I do have a sliver of hope, so all I can do is tell them how I personally feel about this in hopes that they can see from our (at least my) perspective.
Cosmetic items are important to me as a player and egis on the cash shop would be the lowest of the low because they know how much people want those and to charge for them is just unacceptable to me. Don't do it SE, listen to the fans before you make a decision and it's already too late to do anything about it (with more then just this).
FFXV did this better, they directly had a poll to ask us what we liked and disliked and I very happily gave my opinion. And when they released the video message, it was shown to all intended regions at the same time. That is great fan-dev communication, and it's funny that they are trying to do what ffxiv has done but ffxiv has lost that over the years and ffxv even did it better. The last time we had a players poll here was many many years ago.
This message is for the devs and the community reps, not for the community, but of course feel free to add more or disagree. If some would see this as disguising one issue with another then your entitled to believe what you will. But this is nothing more then me speaking my mind
