Dev Request: Keep the RNG on ASTonly please

AST is unique b/c it relies on luck/RNG and certain actions can improve your luck..GREAt..gives ASt a niche.

But here is the thing i think RNG/luck needs to be an AST inclusive and remove the RNG/luck aspect out of Dragoon's new skills and MCh's proc.

I feel MCH would be more enjoyable and unique if it had a straight up range combo unlike the bard, just give people more reasons to expand their job list and stay subbed longer.

Please consider devs!:D

I actually love the RNG on Astrologian. When I first heard about it I hated the idea. Then I started playing it and it really makes you put more thought into the cards you put into play. It adds a fun new mechanic to healing that I really enjoy.

If they removed the RNG from MCH's combo, then we'd have two skills that were essentially worthless (the Ammunition skills). Those would have to be redesigned, because the potency increase is too small. Their main benefit is nearly guaranteeing your next ws procs.

Why should AST be gimped by RNG but every other job should get a free pass? Remove Firestarter and River of Blood too please hurr durr, can't have any non-AST job be too borked by bad proc strings trololol.

Name me a single Astrologian action that improves my chances of Drawing a card that I want, rather than one that I don't. Spread only allows you to save a card for a certain time you want to use it; it doesn't affect your odds of Drawing that card initially. Shuffle and Royal Road still allow you to draw the same card twice in a row, even if it's crap. There are no skills to "improve your luck"...that is a misconception about the job that I wish would go away.

Some jobs have more or less rng. Even on the stat : Crit is pure rng for example.

As a healer, when something can proc for free cure = rng. Not only AST have rng. Rng is something really ubiquitous in FFXIV.

Please, know how to play with.

Please, do not compare a rng free cure with card drawing.

You cast a skill as a whm and there's a change you get an extra benefit.

Astrologians cast a skill and there's a chance it might be of some use.

That's a huge difference.

Where you see that I compare cards system with free cure proc? I just say that some jobs have a kind of rng. Of course it's not the same and I know this since I play AST. I never say every jobs have the same rng system.

The card/buff system is awful. The rng aspect should be better. AST need some tweaks anyway.

I remember getting spear over and over and over. The cooldowns on draw and shuffle are way too long with a system that can screw you so hard.

I would quote a post on here but it's difficult on my phone. Being a good AST isn't about getting the card you want, but being able to know what to do with the cards that you get. Those other cards are very useful as well. Not just balance. I'm amazed at how many people don't even bother using Royal Road

Went to do dungeon run as low level AST; Bole, Bole, Bole, Bole, Bole, Bole.. :(

the whole AST main mechanic is based around awfull rng....and is frustrating as hell.

Ast is so awesome as healer that needs their support based on rng , because that their extra...

is like if SCH used aetherflow and had a chance of getting 1 , 2 , 3 or 4 stacks!

or if whm curaga II had a 45% chance of no regen , 50%chance of regen and 5% chance of healing all members to full....

just random and stupid examples :P

Okay... Yes. The basic or "good" AST knows that all cards are useful. But the basic AST also knows that all cards aren't useful all the time. For example: Spear, while great for royal road, isn't useful when used to buff someone unless they're popping cooldowns at that moment.

Also IMO some cards really aren't good enough to make up for the 30-60 seconds cooldowns.

By the way, I have never seen a lv60 AST not use royal road. o.o

I just want to be able to summon personas with my cards :(

Also it would nice if you could use draw from a lower level ,did 6 random dungeons today all were around level 20ish stuck casting benefic or the 2 damage spells available sooooooooo boring.

AST's rng doesn't bother me as much as AoE range. Seriously, range is so crap. Standing in the middle of everyone to cast Helios, only 2 people get healed and the rest aren't that far, then another healer standing where I am aswell, cures everyone. Lesser potencies, lesser aoe range, that's something to fix before RNG, imo.

They have SCH range on everything... I'm not sure why. Helios 2 should have medica 2 range IMO.

A "good AST" still has the same likelihood of Drawing 6 Spires in a row in a caster-oriented 4-man as a "bad AST". Hope your tanks really appreciate that extended TP reduction which does very little to boost your group's overall efficiency.

I wish people would stop equating RNG to skill. Balance isn't the only "useful" card, I agree, but Bole sucks to Draw during burn phases and endless Ewers during short encounters is frustrating, to say the least.

Shuffle should just be infinite and never have a cool down :D

I agree with taking the rng factor out of Mch's combo, not because I'm against rng in rotations in theory, it's just Mch can get totally screwed over on DPS if they get bad rng when their ammo is down. An AST that gets screwed on the card they want can at least still heal. Regardless of what a drg gets it's 50% to do one attack and 50% chance to do another attack. With MCH it's either you can do your combo or you get to waste a global doing your basic shot, again.
