So just got SCH at 30. Seemed straightforward before, would use Sic command and leave it at that. I tried using Selene in a dungeon first but it seemed like she just stood there beside me. Tried Sic but she didn't really seem to do anything for awhile, at least nothing obvious. I then switched to Eos and did Sic also, and you would clearly see it casting things like Embrace often or whatever that shield thing it does is as well. I didn't give Selene more than maybe 3-4 minutes on 1-2 pulls so might have just been impatient but didn't want the party to get mad at me or something. Is Sic the right commend in general as I just wanted healing etc not really attacking? Not sure what I think of SCH, hopefully gets harder later because that Eos thing was doing all the healing for me to the point I hardly ever had to which seems weird since why be a healer if you just have a pet doing auto heal? I'm assuming at 50+ it's more difficult requiring more effort from myself, but right now it's so boring!

At lower levels your healing output generally out scales damage output. Sic isn't generally good for Faeries in general as when you unlock more of the Fairy skills, you don't want Eos or Selene burning CDs at inappropriate time. A great example would be Eos using Whispering Dawn as soon as someone takes damage--you want to save that for when you need AoE heals.
Selene at 30 however doesn't have access to many skills. I think you only have Silent Dusk & Embrace? I'd put her on Obey and just spam Silent Dusk on mobs that can be silenced. Most notable is the last boss in Sunken Temple--you should try and Silence the Paralyze since Scholars don't get Leeches until the level 40 class quest is complete. -

As Parawill suggests, learn to use both of your fairies on Obey. Sic is a bad habit to get into since they will inevitably blow their CDs uselessly. You also can't force your fairies to Embrace targets above 80% HP unless you use Obey.

Sic is ok, but not preferred. The way sic works is, your pet will use all of their cooldowns whenever they become available, normally at the pull. While this is fine in lower level dungeons, it's not really the best way to maximize your class.
Obey is the standard. While in obey, your pet will continue to heal with embrace like normal but will not use any cooldowns. You activate these manually when it is most needed. Selene will be for your dps and tanks. Spell speed and skill speed buffs for burst. You'll know when to use these when you know each fight. Eos is if you need a little help in healing. Usually you would use Eos if you don't have a whm in the party, or you have undergeared players/don't know the dungeon well. If you're comfortable with the fight and aren't struggling to keep ppl alive, switch to Selene and buff your dps and speed things up. -

Awesome thanks so much that's a huge help and makes total sense. I'm glad to hear that because half the reason I wanted to try SCH was because I like the names you see of all the cool abilities happening like Fey Wind or whatever they are. So when I thought it was just the fairy that casts them I was disappointed lol. So that makes sense, thanks everyone!

Selene still does decently on sic, especially if the fight has no raidwide esunable debuffs. If you don't know a fight id rather have as much uptime on a fight as possible for fey wind than save it for particular periods of burst unless its necessary.

Summoner pets will wipe raids if you don't micro them, and scholar faeries waste cooldowns and are as ineffective as possible. You could get away with have Selene on auto before HW released, but now you have to manually control her, since 100% buff uptime is no longer possible and due to the fact that she blows her esuna even on debuffs that can't be purged....
And don't even consider Eos on auto. Just no. Please no. -

Selene shouldn't Be on Sic.
She will auto cast embrace even on Obey (Same as Eos)
The cooldowns that she does have should be used when needed.
Silent Dusk When you are able to while DPSing and can pick what you want to silence.
Fey Caress when you need an AOE cleanse. This is the number one reason she should not be on Sic. You do not want her blowing this on a single cleanse on fights that do AOE debuffs.
Then there's Fae Wind This could arguably be left for Sic, but on fights where DPS is forsed to move in a manner that prevents them from hitting the boss, you don't want her popping this since the buff is wasted and better left until all the DPS is back to fighting.

If you know the fight you know whether it makes a difference. For instance - A2. There's basically 0 difference between selene on sic vs. obey. The debuffs aren't dispellable and there's basically 100% dps uptime.
Once again, healing in general is a very situational gameplay - we don't have rotations or anything like that. Pretending like one answer is always the best is disingenuous. -
