But seriously, I made 100,000 gil yesterday grinding roulettes.
I was literally thinking about this when it came on the radio.
"Hm yes, good theme song for WAR"
That's how i felt when i tried healer and started getting all these wonderful instant queues.
But that gift was also a curse! As there are a shocking amount of tanks who don't know how to mitigate their damage taken. I'm sure the reverse is true with a shocking amount of healers who can't, y'know... heal...
Such is the curse of not dpsing.
Not what i meant.
I meant that healing and tanking come with instant queues (and a bunch of coms), but the trade off is having to deal with your counterpart possibly not knowing how to perform his/her job correctly.
As a dps, it comes with a longer queue, but a mostly stress free environment. Because, as a dps, you only have to worry about hitting stuff till it dies, and not what your counterpart is or is not doing.
I just don't even try anymore, as Tank I will just keep my tank stance on and tank, as healer I'll just heal and sit afk when there is nothing to heal.
I used to DPS with tank and with healer but stopped doing so because no one appreciates it anyway and I get more commendations for being lazy.
DPSing as a healer got nerfed so bad at 60, at least on SCH, that I stopped trying, yeah. Going full throttle with Cleric's Stance I was still only contributing 2-3% of the damage, and that comes with a risk of not being able to save the tank in an emergency.
So now I'll throw up a token Shadow Flare and a Miasma II (since the debuffs from that help even if the damage is nothing) and focus on keeping everyone topped off and protected instead.
LMAO! I clicked the link and it said Subscribed and a thumbs up, I was like I don't know who this person is, then I seen Volbeat..... thought it was going to be a video of you getting 100k.
I love Volbeat! Still Counting is my favorite.
I've only been going the lazy route from 56-60 with my DRK now, I doubt I can do it again.
But now I understand the healers that only heal, it's fun to watch some Netflix, Amazon Prime while grinding dungeons.
Figured it works as Tank too.
I just thought it's mind numbing how people give out commendations for doing litteraly the minimum amout of efford and when you go all out, go out of your tank stance, use tank cooldowns in the right time and do more DPS than anyone else in the group you get 0-1 commendations because.
1. Most dungeon finder players don't even use a parser and have no idea.
2. Some healers just think "Man that noob took so much damage DRK too squishy I can't watch my series!"
3. Once in a lifetime you actually have someone that recognizes what you do and commends you for that.
That was for lvling, when I do ex dungeons I play like I'm used to but then I don't run with randoms.
I completely understand your frustration. When the system was introduced back in the day, I had the same feelings about it. And yes, I felt the same way when I was going ham, doing my best and zero commendations were given. People love recognition for their efforts, that's for sure. But don't get me wrong either, I'm not a super amazing player that gives the 110% all the time, sometimes I go lazy too because I'm either watching something on YouTube or just chatting with my friends via LS/FC/Whatsapp. But it's not all the time, as I really have fun playing my job at its maxium efficiency sometimes.
Story time: Sometimes I received commendations after f***ng up a lot and sometimes I received zero commendations while doing my super best and saving the party for an inminent wipe. :( Such is the life in DF. That's why I just don't bother anymore with this commendation system. If I get them, sweet. If not, no worries, I still got my gil/tomes/gear/exp/fun.
