New Timeworm map random drop system

Any ideas why SE thought it was better to make the new timeworn maps all drop randomly to party members.

The system we always used for older maps was if it was your map, you get all the loot from it. This pushes so you have to actually get maps instead of just join parties and jack all the loot that is randomly given to you.

The only thing that you roll on now is Unhidden Map, Minions, and Thav Silk.

It was always like that.

I have done a lot of maps and I feel like its the same now as it was then. High end items went to a loot pool to be rolled on and crafting mats/crystals dropped to randoms.

Yes, this is always how's it's been.

Back when Alexander maps required more bodies (esp if they were a healer class) we would use a higher end farmed map to "pay" the people that helped us. That way the person who needed their alexes got them, and could then pay everyone in the party with a map that would probably give them a decent reward for their time.

Seem like past maps that there was the random drops but there always seemed to be something in the chest to roll for but I have done quite for dragonskin maps and seems completely rng if anything even pops from the chest itself besides the random loot drop. Which I find very annoying should be 100% least one item pops from the chest that has has to be rolled one.

It's the same, but there used to be more items that were rolled on. Coke, potash, aetherial level 49 gear, etc, were all things you rolled on, but now we only roll on mats for cosmetic clothes.

This is sort of the reason I've been doing wyvern maps right now. The occasional HQ ingot or cloth can be a major boon since I'm leveling crafting, while a majority of people I see doing dragon maps have none of their crafts above 50, and are mostly gambling for thavnarian silk to sell on the market board. My dragon maps turn into HQ materials that other people grab and sell for way too much when I could use them instead.

I guess I might have mispoken some about lootable drops in Peistiskin maps. You have crafting mats such as Moonstone, Frosted Glass Lens, Chinchilla Hide, Philosophy Items, they were all roll lootable outside of the normal stuff along with the unhidden and minions.

Guess there was just a much larger loot list so it seemed like more dropped that was rolled on.

The Thav silk and leather are rolled items? I was thinking they were treated like normal items and randomly given out to people, only reason I was worried about doing my map with randoms other than my FC haha.

Nope, I can confirm the Thav leathers and silks are rolled on.

And you can always change the loot options if you're the group leader. Just make sure that your group is agreed on loot.

No, loot options are only for duties unfortunately.

I would only take friends on these as I've read stories of people getting greedy when the silk or leather drops.

I am assuming that as time goes on we will start to see new stuff appear like whatever the heavensward version of coke ends up being. I was a bit surprised that there were no new pink items but maybe that will show up later as well. I just wish that floss silk would show up in the maps or via some other method than just old botany retainer missions, heh.

I've heard if its agreed upon before starting a GM can get involved. Though I cant say with 100% certainty. I do think the loot rules need to be allowed in the maps as well, pass lead to whoever has the next map so they know they can get their item if it drops then just pass it to whoever is next.
