Earthquake in Japan

i want to say hang in there and give it your best. i cant speak for all but i am sure everyone wants to give you our support and thoughts for everyone effected by the earthquake.

omg when and where was it? its been a while from a news stand point that japan had one. Luckily they have earth quack drills (last i heard)

I currently live in Hokkaido, so the earthquake was only about 3-4.0 up here, but we have a Tsunami we'll have to deal with. Currently I believe it's supposed to be 3 meters high.

I hope everyone in Miyagi prefecture and Tokyo comes out ok though. They got hit by a 7.5 and the Tsunami was 6-10 meters I believe.

Watching the tsunami live is pretty shocking to watch. Cars, houses, everything. Gone. Still trying to contact my friends to see if they're ok.

Yeah not only that but we just got hit by a hugh CME from the sun. They said it was gonna reach the earth tonight. To top that off the night of my flight home the 19th and the following day, they are saying the moon is gonna be closer to the earth then it had been in 18 years. Possibly going to cause all kinds of disasters... Im really scared guys

If your friends were on the East/SE/S end of Tokyo or Miyagi prefecture, they're probably really busy at the moment. If they were in those areas and anywhere near the ocean, then they have probably evacuated.

Your best bet would be to try to use Skype to contact their cell phones. But you might want to wait a few hours.

My old friend leave in Chiba, hope to be able to contact him asap. :(

Yeah, the majority of Tokyo is fine.

There were a few partial building collapses and fires though. And the coastal area was flooded by 6-10 meter tsunamis. Similar in Miyagi prefecture.

Yet another reason I prefer Hokkaido to Honshu.

Here in Paris, we do not have earthquake fortunately.

Apparently the M8.9 quake started more than 2 hours ago, and aftershocks are still happening. There is a huge firestorm in an oil refinery in Chiba prefecture right now that is spreading, and there is immense flooding in Miyagi prefecture.

Please join me in hoping things will be okay very soon in Japan! I am very worried for many people close to me.

When I heard there was an earthquake and tsunamis in Japan I though "meh, they're used to them, they're well prepared" but then I watched the news and holy shit no one can be fully prepared to what has happened. It could have done much more damage in any other country.

Hello everyone.
I'm Japanese FF14 player and live in Japan, Chubu-region(middle region of Japan).
There is a distance of over 700 kilometers between my city and the epicenter, but I felt a shock yesterday.

Now, almost all west of Chubu-region are safe.
In these region, power/water/gas is supplied normally, and there is no panic.
On the other side, many public transportation are still delayed or stopped in Tokyo(east region and SQUARE-ENIX located).
I heard power is restoring in many Kanto-region(near Tokyo), but many Tohoku-region(north-east region) is not yet.
I cannot know the condition of the area near the epicenter -- i.e. Iwate pref – because the earthquake and tsunamis were so strong that a lot of network cable failed and most network and phone(including cell phone) in that area do not work.
Cause stops many power plant, power supply capacity reported to be going to short in the east-side including Tokyo.

Now, Tokyo area is safe and people got injured in Tokyo is very few.
If your friends live in Tokyo or west, they will stay safe.

However in the east-side, power supply capacity is going to short and a massive internet traffic interrupt emergency data link.
It seems that FF14 servers working normally, but I think we should not increase network traffic in Tokyo.
Please use this forum or diary system if you cannot know safety of your friends.

Worried and wishing the best for everyone. T.T The thought of people losing family members, homes, food and safety.. it's so terrible. When I get the money I'll be donating to relief efforts.
