SE: Why do you hate Culinarian so much?

Out of the MASSIVE list of changes to crafting, not a single new recipe/change was done for Culinarians.

The one class in the whole crafting system that is not only close to useless (very few players actually know the effects of food and which foods they should be eating) but also very hard to level (compared to the likes of Carpenter and Alchemist).

For over 30 ranks his main leveling recipes are turning fish into sand, hardly something a cook should be doing, some of his actual food recipes are so complex and expensive, they're hardly worth doing at all. Especially considering no one cares to buy his creations in the first place.

This was your chance to fix the class and give him some life, and here he is once again, the only class to not receive any sort of change at all. Not even one.

It is sad especially considering how important cooking was in FF11 :(

I think Cul and Alch changes are coming post 1.20 or 1.20 itself. D:
I really hope they do...I cannot do Cul at hte moment, but I felt the same way about Alchemist learning that the dye system would be taken out and dyes would now be found out on the field (wtf?)

The difference is Alchemist is fine as it is right now. It's really easy to level and it's recipes make some sense and almost none of them are overly complicated.

Turning fish into sand on the other hand...

So sad that they are now even removing the sand...

settle down, Yoshi already said cooking and alchemy revisions are coming in next patch. Along with tooltips on what food does for us.

SE should just take cul out of the game and send all 5 of us who leveled it up to 50 a t-shirt that reads
"I LEVELED CULINARIAN TO 50 AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS T-SHIRT"

Reading the thread can help.

It doesn't take that long to fix the class anyway, I'm not sure why they would need that much time.

Remove the stupid sand recipes. Make the old ones simpler (i.e. juices should require 1 or 2 fruits, not 6).

I disagree, fixing the class is a huge task, rebalancing recipes, drops, npc sell/buy food stat changes. and what it means for the future of the crafting economy. not an easy fix.

and for the record, I did read the thread, you were qq-ing about no cul or alc changes, when the devs already stated those revisions were coming after 1.19.

so simmer down, DB.

And I told you SOME alchemist revisions are already there, which obviously means they could've spent another 10 minutes to help out Culinarian since, you know, it's by far the most useless class in the game.

And if you check through the NPC changes, they already fixed the pricing on most of the items that CUL uses.

All I'm saying is you should check the list before discussing it with me.

Get a grip, more changes are coming. You will just have to wait.

Out of all those Alchemy changes only 5 actually change the recipe. All the others only lower the result from 12 to 1.

Alchemy was minimally touched in this patch because their crafts directly affect the other crafts. Cooking does not.

Yoshi already said that Alchemist and Cilunarian (Wich i guess will be greatly related between them) will get their changes in 1.20. We all knew that and if you didn't... read the dev. posts.

They said they have specific plans to improve ALC and CUL, but because they are not gear heavy talents, they have to do some ground up reworking of aspects therein.

One minor example was stuff like repair kits that an ALC could create, Kind of like a consumeable item used to fix gear.

As for CUL, they are changing the very nature of food, because physical levels are going away, and players will no longer be able to influence tasty vs divine as easily as resorting elemental attributes. That is a large undertaking.

Be patient, I am sure both will get some serious love in upcoming patches. I am anticipating them as much as you, as I also have a personal stake in both classes.

Its only been a year dude things dont happen over night! Its not like culinarian is a real class that you can select when you make your character.

Here I was hoping I could continue role playing Pinkie Pie and leveling Culinarian in 1.19.

Oh well, another 3 months until Pinkie Pie is complete.

Seriously tho in the history of online gaming has there ever been a class ignored and for the most part made obsolete anywhere on the scale of Cul in FFXIV? I know people complained about dragoon back in the day in FFXI but to me thats not even remotely close. If you leveled cul to 50 pre 1.19 or 1.20(whenever the changes are coming) you took part in a historical event.

Spiritmaster in Aion came close, but it's been addressed. After like a year and a half.

Hahaha. Goddamn, post of the month right there. Maybe someone ought to make a shirt like that on one of those custom apparel sites.

Yeah, to be honest CUL might as well not be in the game at this point, over the year since launch it has been so neglected the class could have been taken out and then put back in at 1.19 or 1.20 and no one would have really cared much.

How to turn fish into sand:

Grab a frying pan

set heat to 400 degrees

put fish in frying pan and let it sit there till it catches fire and disintegrates into ash

congratulations you have sand

????

profit!

How to make orange Juice:

Get the frying pan again

Get 4 oranges and put them in the frying pan (skinned, un-skinned, heck i dunno you tell me)

wait 20 minutes till they liquify

congratulations you made orange juice!! (That defies all logic)

????

PROFIT!!

It's not perfectly good when nobody wants to eat it.

Another thread revolving around lack of information which is easy to find and a lack of patience for said changes to be released. Basically alchemy and culinary are getting huge work overs for 1.20... nothing really else needs to be said xD
