Rise of the AF2

So only a week away before players can now look like FF characters with...

Monk as Yang Fang Leiden

Dragoon as Kain Highwind

Ninja as Shadow

Bard as Relm Arrowny

So how is everyone feeling for the AF2 arrival?

I wonder how we get these AF2's.
I hope they aren't behind the new Alex.
I'll be kinda peeved....

Very annoyed I didn't want it to be esoterics(most likely is) but oh well what can we do.

Do we know how AF2 will be acquired? Please tell me it's not Alexander Savage...

The thought right now is that the new AF2 is going to be ESOTERIC GEAR. Alexander savage is the same gear but with higher iLv and dyeable as the NM Alexander. And Alex Savage will have the weapons....wonder if there will also be Esoteric Weapons....please....please...please...

To this day, every single time I play IX, or see a photo of him, I think that's a beak, and not just a huge nose. Took me years to realize it, lol.

probably not...but someone in my FC believes there will be an upgrade we can aquire for the primal weapons.

I don't like the idea of having your iconic set locked behind a weekly tome limit honestly. A recolored version the way AF1.5 was I can understand, or something that just looks cooler overall.

But having to wait 1 month + just to get your iconic set just kills it for me. I wouldn't know what else they could do with it though to make it not be irrelevant instantly. Other than maybe setting up in a similar way the relic weapons work, and have them upgradable as patches go by.

I thought all the AF2's looked really good...cannot wait for my Bard and Scholar Gear.

Alexander Savage is connected to a dyeble stronger version of the Alexander gear we have now. As with mytho gear AF+1 before I think we can expect AF2 to be ilv 190 Esoterics gear.

While I like the references to old FF, the Dragoon AF was already Kain Highwind inspired itself. The AF2 is just an overpowered version. I seriously hope though that the White Mage AF2 has a /visor option >.>

I'm still not feeling the summoner AF2 . It's just kinda of bleh to me. I like the book though

I still have no idea what the NIN gear actually looks like because they showed it on a Lalafell... at night... in the middle of a forest -_-
On a side not my poor SCH is gonna need an emergency glamor when it gets that gear. My SMN, MNK and PLD will love it tho

I like everything about bard, except for the hat. Not too keen on that style.

I'd rather it be tied to a farm, than a raid a fraction of the playerbase will experience for a good half year or more. I'm totally in favor of the latter, and having them upgradeable patch by patch.

Except that armor gets replaced a lot faster than weapons and the old AF was no exception. You'd have to make AF2 armor so stupidly powerful to justify the 2.0 styled relic grind for them.

I love SMN and AST gear, but I'm feeling so bleh about WHM and SCH. Actually, SCH's is pretty dang ugly. Too bad that the WVR and SCH sets weren't switched.

Though the lighting is just about enough to see Shadow's signature side horn on the head gear.

get the chest as your first piece and use either the level 56, 58 or the vault halonic pieces to mimic the look.


alternatively you could cosplay as fray until you have the full set. (160 crafted chest + terror knight pants, sabatons, gauntlets. not as gold but still looks good.)

Black Mage: Contractually obligated to look very silly at least once in every re-gearing process.

The price we pay for being able to magically set things on fire without melting our own innards.

Astrologian, Summoner, and Bard are my faves.

I heard somewhere that the AF2 sets would be relatively easy to get, about on par with the AF1 difficulty. I imagine it's a series of class quests that make them available. They might even be dyeable right off the bat, or at least have a quest or craft item available.

Oh well yea sucks to that we need to farm lot of esoteric, that will probably take us like 2 months to get the full gear.
Think on the relics, they arent going to come until 3.1 . So af2 1 month after the release and relic weapons 3/4 months >_<

I reay dont understand the meaning of releasing this kind of content so late, to make it feel is important? So it was poosible to have an excuse so they can be more powerfull?

Hopefully alchemists will again be the ones to provide the avenue for players to get dyable versions. That class needs all the help it can get.

You really think that if the new AF2 gear isn't acquired via esoterics, that we wouldn't have gotten some inkling of how else to get it by now? Or also, you really think that if esoterics don't give the new AF2, that we wouldn't have gotten an idea of what this new tome gear looks like, by now?

Anyway most of the gear IMHO looks like shit. Dragoon, Bard, and Astrologian look fantastic. Scholar looks mediocre. The rest look like boring shit.

It boggles the mind that any informed person consider anything else otherwise to be the case! It'd be totally rad if we'd get AF2 from something else and esoteric gear turned out to be something different entirely, but come on, let's be real, it'll be esoterics.
