Do people still play in PvP?

I've been trying to do some PvP becasue I want to get R44 on my character so I can wear those amazing PvP armors, but it seems that no one does PvP anymore, but I keep seeing new DRK and MCH with some of the PvP armors and weapons.

Is there a way to get rank points that I'm not aware of? Even going into PvP roulette has proven to be impossible. Any tips? :O

Your character only has one PvP rank per GC. If you're PvP rank 45 you can buy any rank armor the vender has. Many people got max PvP rank awhile ago, before 3.0.

edit: if you mean pvp seals, people also maxed those out awhile ago when PvP had a decent pop rate. Mine have been maxed for awhile.

Japanese servers still pop :P

If you need xp. Get some shouts for wolves den on tuesdays for the xp challenge log. For queing for anything all rank 45s are waiting for the new maps and sets.

Here's hoping it's not GC-based, which is the problem with Cartenau Flats. I already know what the map and gamemode (but not how it works) of the new FL is but I can't really tell if it's GC-based or not.

I have been trying to PvP ever since HW's launch and no luck.

It's still gc based despite the "entire" pvp community asking for it to be removed. But you know lore and stuff...new gc based rewards are coming based on which gc in each data center wins the most.

Watch as everyone and their mothers switch to mael, gj se.

Oh, so that's why, yeah I meant PvP seals.

Gonna give it a try on tuesdays as Stormrider said, maybe that will help. It's kinda sad that they give some really good armors there but no one wants to do PvP anymore. (I kinda see why though) :P

I tried to pvp on masa, but the Q time was over 70 hours before I gave up and did other things. I'll need to schedule pvp events with my fc if I ever hope to get the pvp gear.

Think many are waiting for the new PvP content thats coming.

Not really been bothered about PvP in this game so didn't take much notice to remember when it will be released. I think, not certain, will be with Alex savage or 3.1

It could be possible to get 70 hours before the auto disconnect. After 30 mins rest the que general consensus is that it glitches and puts you in que hell never to escape.

I love PvP!!! But lack of content and choices make it hard for people to enjoy and get addicted......

Reason you probably saw people with the drk and mch pvp sets is because they capped pvp marks before expansion and got it instantly. I did this as well but I'm saving for the new stuff.

Slaugther has nothing to do with it, it was dead before that mode arrived. GC restrictions made short work of it.

Right now is a bad time. People are still off levelling classes and participating in new content as a priority, and an old PvP system is pretty low on, I think, even the most dedicated PVPer's priority lists. So getting into it is not exactly quick right now.

That said, when 3.05 hits, there will be another Frontlines mode added to the game, including a new map and everything; expect a complete resurgence of interest in PVP when this happens.

I hope so! This time I'll make sure to get rank 44 so I don't have to worry about this anymore. :O

I stopped queuing till they add the new pvp zones (which is very soon). It just takes too long to queue atm. Even worse with the new expansion people have more stuff to do besides pvp. Ironically enough people not queue due to queue times making it take even longer. People on the pvp forums have suggested ways to relieve que (get rid of gc or add mercenary mode where you can que to the gc who needs help) but PVP is back burner for square, so it feels as though any suggestions are pretty much ignored.

This game has PVP? Almost forgot.

I did a lot of PvP between patch 2.5 and 3.0 (there was not much to do), got to max rank, have 20k Wolf Marks on me, and i don't really see any point in waiting 30+ min for a queue that will not reward me with anything ><

Whenever the new PvP instance is available, i plan to go back to PvP at least twice a day.
I'm quite sure that's also the case with most people who used to do PvP before 3.0.

I think most people are waiting for the new PvP to come in. right now it is completely restricted to level 50 iLevel 80. I know I'm busy with getting Jobs to the new max level and I want to use all the cool gear, stats, skills etc I will have. I thought it was coming with Alexander but maybe it was coming with the Savage mode. It will be soon and then it will explode again. So If you are interested in getting PvP experience and Wolf Marks etc then I strongly recommend going crazy with it when the new content is released. You should have short queue times and get in come crazy fun matches back to back.

Would it be bad to suggest maybe PvCPU? Going one on one versus the computer. Kind of like Street Fighter. There would be no queue times and get Wolf Marks depending on difficulty. Maybe have a tower of opponents like Mortal Kombat.

You mean like a Colosseum survival mode? I'm hoping to see that introduced into the Golden Saucer content, like it was in the original iteration of the golden saucer. I would love it if they could add in the ability to observe in the stands and place bets on the outcome. Or also have 1v1 2v2 3v3 battles in here too. It would also need ladder rankings.

I got in a Frontlines roulette yesterday. Was a 3 hour queue. And it turned out to be Secure mode. And there was a person on my team there for the first time. And we had no healer. It was awful.
Speaking with my PVP LS and other friends, you can expect 1 hour+ queues on the Aether Data Center now. You can compare that with 30 to 90 minute queues before the expansion. Now you're looking at 60 to "God knows when".

Wolves' Den is looking even more bleak. A person in my LS has been trying to get in Wolves' Den nearly every day since the expansion dropped and only got in 1 or 2 times.

There is just too much PVE / non-PVP content right now that people are focused on. And this has been a shock to me but people are actually struggling on Alexander. So I don't expect people to regain interest in PVP any time soon. At least not until the new Level 60 duty comes out. But even then, we've been told it will continue to be a Storm/Flame/Adder faction based combat which people aren't too happy about. So don't get your hopes up. Your best bet is to recruit interested people with the forums, PF, and shouting in Idyllshire. If not you'll just be wasting your life away in a long queue that may never pop.

Final Fantasy and PvP has never worked well, unfortunately. I'd love to see them add some battleground style capture-the-flag and king-of-the-hill with instant queue pops :)

I played 5-6 games a day.
Then they introduced slaughter
And one week after that I never touched pvp again.
Completely ruined my favourite game mode :c

Gonna start pvp once they release new pvp content. Already maxed rank and want use new lvl 60 skills into it. Still can play only lvl 50 pvp is kinda meh.

GC restriction really makes PVP a dead zone.

The new PvP will be dead if they continue with the GC restrictions. I hope they dont but time will tell.

No, GC restrictions are not what is causing problems right now. Lack of reason to PvP is what is causing problems.

Fun is not reason enough? Personally, I have acquired a taste to burn my FC mates to a crisp in PvP.

Fun will only get you so far in mainstream mentality. Prioritizing fun is considered "short sighted" if it doesn't come accompanied by some long term (yet quickly rewarded) benefit. As unfortunate as that is to say. Mind you, it's not the fault of anyone, it's just how things are in general.
