Emergency Tactics animation and/or recast time is too long

Hi,
Emergency Tactics animation is too long for it be be of practical use in most situations.
Where you would want to use it is if you are recasting Adloquium or Succor on target that already has shield on from previous cast. If trying to do it on a main tank, the animation lock is very long and by the time you finish casting [Emergency Tactics+Adloquium], the previous shield is already gone, so you might have not bothered at all using the ability. Especially if you crit your heal and overheal the tank, which leads to losing healing potency. If you crit with tank near full HP, the extra healing goes into shield and is not wasted, but even beneficial.
The animation speed needs to be as short as Cleric Stance, if not even shorter.

I suspect originally you wanted to make this ability into a toggle converting shields into pure cures, so that SCH can replace WHM in raid/progression parties (making SCH+SCH and SCH+AST almost viable setup), but you gave up on it last moment and introduced this half baked ability.

What changes I want from this ability:
1) Make it a toggle so that Scholar can try to substitute when WHM is not available (WHM will still remain preferred main healer due to giving MND+ party bonus)
2) If you insist on keeping the ability luckluster, I want animation lock removed from the ability and recast timer reduced to 15 seconds. (reduced timer mainly for situations when you end up as SCH+SCH or SCH+AST in duty finder randomly matched parties)

There is no real animation lock. You can start casting almost immediately. The animation will play through but also the castbar appears.

In addition to the rest of your thread. I agree and would have preferred to be able to convert shields already on the target into hp. One of the potential pitfalls of this change would be is that if you are unlucky with an auto attack your 2k shield / heal could end up being a 400 shield/heal etc.

I don't play sch but the most i can see is them changing is the animation speed/ duration, cast time, animation sync. More of a QoL thing than an actual core buff to the skill unless it really is underwhelming and a dozen of threads explaining y its so lackluster etc.

I don't really have any issues with ET; the recast is fine, and the animation isn't as long as it appears. You can almost start casting as soon as you use it, similar to Switfcast. The CD is fine, because it's not supposed to be a "stance", it's an "emergency" button.

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with this ability. It serves its purpose by allowing SCHs to occasionally (read: at least as frequently as is actually necessary) pump out a large HP heal without spending an Aetherflow stack. Making it any more useful than it is risks stepping on WHM toes that are already tender from getting stepped on with the removal of Graniteskin and the sharing of the Proshell effect.

I completly agree with this. SCH/SCH is already a very real thing thanks to Indomitability. The only thing left to decide is who gets Selene vs Eos (If healing is hard enough to merit it; else double Selene is pretty awesome) and how to rotate your Emergency Tactics. I don't use ET very often because I'm frequently paired with WHM who can just Medica, but I would be lying if I said there weren't times where I used it. Bismarck EX is one such fight. Playing with an AST left most of my party below max HP for the Phase 2 Transition. Agreed. Emergency tactics is kind of an "emergency, but not so much" just because of the animation. I was expecting something really quick, to fit the name, but it's a bit sluggish and break the pace.

At present SCH doesn't even come close to the raw healing power of a WHM, SCH has a few abilities to get off AoE heals but has nowhere near the same raw healing output as a Scholar.

Anyone saying replace WHM with a SCH is just... so wrong. They are still incredibly different and each offers it's own strengths and weaknesses.

The name is misleading. Scholars already have a good emergency button (Lustrate). Emergency Tactics is best used for cases where you know in advance that heavy damage will be incoming (Blinding Blade, Discoid, etc.) and can prepare it in advance, while Lustrate is best used in cases where you need a panic heal that fires immediately.

Exactly. ET is for when you anticipate needing to restore a lot of actual HP very soon.

Heavy raid damage that you hadn't been counting on (like the failure of a mechanic) = Indomitability.

Our single target healing has always been better than WHM. That hasn't changed, and probably won't.
The gap between our AoE healing has been narrowed considerably:
1) Whispering Dawn is still great and rivals Medica II.
2) Succor=Medica. Shields still don't stack, but ET is only on a 30s cooldown. I can't think of any fight that has significant amounts of AoE raid damage every 15 seconds. (Enough to require Medica Spam anyway)
3) Deployment Tactics is borderline OP, capable of negating hilarious amounts of damage altogether.
4) Indomitability is an instant AoE heal that's stronger than Medica, but weaker than Cure III
5) Our protect and Stoneskin are equal to yours now, negating one of the few advantages you could boast about in 2.0

I personally like WHM/SCH; if only for the LB and the MND boost. WHM isn't bad, but I believe groups looking to maximize DPS will more-than-likely consider SCH/SCH.

I just hit my SCH to 58 and the animation is really cool, but it didn't affect the delay of skill as OP give statement.

Also I much prefer WHM/SCH even SCH has Indomitability and ET.

I actually use it whenever I need a "medica". It's also nice whenever indomitability is on CD and especially when a succor alone just isn't enough. While I mostly use it for succor, using it on Adloquium is a bit harder (those crit heals for 10.2k heals are no joke ) but depends on rng....

SCH healing potential is already ludicrously high but the RNG of not just singular but double crits after using ET makes being a SCH the most enjoyable healing job I have ever played. I have seen 11-12k adlo's with ET on tanks. Those lucky enough for crit succor reaching upward 8-9k.
