Just How Rich Are They?

In a game where some players walk around with millions of gil, how do they compare to Uldahs elite? Are they rich? Middle class? Mere pedestrians before Loloritos endless coffers? Inquiring minds want to know! Any indication as to how much gil some NPCs are packing?

most of them, at least the ones we saw, have voice overs so I'd say they're pretty rich.

Each quest reward you with a few thousand gil, so I think they are not that rich. and 1000 gil probably a lot to their eyes.

Considering many are buying items from players. Not a lot.

Considering how much players are TPing and that they take all the gils from the TP, they might have a lot now.

Seeing that they can't enter that exclusive Casino: Platinum Mirage in Ul'dah then I'd say not rich enough

Well Look at the cost of a L House. Then compare that to the size of the Gold Saucer.

The richest people in Eorzea are billionaires.

So yeah. Most players just aren't that wealthy.

well compare a large house to the mandervile gold saucer, how much would a building 100x the size cost? :P

Gujiwhasthisname owns Costa del Sol.

The Mandervilles own the gold saucer.

Even the Gold Bazaar and Silver Bazaar, which have fallen on hard times, are probably still worth several hundred million gil.

Billionaires, definitely.

I'm just trying to recall Edda saying 2 potions (28 Gil x 2) used up all the money Avere gave her, and Disgruntled Madam saying it took her long time to save up the money for a make over (2000 Gil). And truth be told, if we go by the story then most of the places we go on a daily basis is guaranteed death for most in Eorzea.

I think our riches is beyond any of Eorzean citizen's dream.

Kinda like the power level in Goku compare to Mr. Satan, yet in reality Mr. Satan is very strong for a "Normal Human".

We are far above the middle-high class but all the richest not even close, maybe the poorest of the high class but other than them not even with max gil on all retainers and yourself

I think you're greatly underestimating RMTs.

There are two types of players - those who just "get by" and who live off their dungeon drops. They generally max out at around 100K on most days, maybe a bit more if they're saving to farm for something. These folks make a living off their adventures as a job, and are well enough off by NPC standards, but they're not rich by any stretch.

Then there are the player merchants - crafters, farmers, buyers sellers and traders, investors, even some bankers. (I loaned a FC member 3.5 million gil to help her buy a house and she's slowly been paying me back in 500K chunks - we called this a mortgage. 0% interest rate but she offered to be a tank any time I needed one.) For these players, making money is also a major part of the game, and they do whatever they can to turn that gil tally as high as possible.

Let's also remember that gil is more closely analogous to yen than it is to dollars. So take your current gil, divide it by a hundred, and that's where you stand dollar-wise.

By that method, our 30 million gil mansion was about equivalent to $300,000 - which is a bit on the cheap end because we were on a low population server at the time (not the case any more.) On high population servers, $600K for a mansion was about right.

Right now cash on hand I have 3.7 million gil, which is the equivalent of 37K in savings. A nice little nest egg (since our FC house is paid for and counts as equity) but not filthy rich at all.

I know people with nearly 200million gil from crafting and or selling runs and even doing the yen thing that seems pretty dang rich. If all of these people on the Syndicate that have been mentioned are this rich and Raubahn supposedly earned enough money doing his thing on the Blood Sands to buy a seat on it, how rich is Raubahn and why don't we see more evidence of his wealth? Why doesn't he quietly use it to help out the Ala Mhigans?

Ul'dah is a kingdom state and social stratification exists in that state. just like our real world, elites in a country like this must be rich because they took everything away from the lower classes.
