Collectables and Perception

hi, my miner had 616 Gathering and 595 Perception
a methodical appresial on bright rocks increased its rarity by 172 with 97% success rate

then I melded my gear a bit up to 638 gathering (+22) and 649 perception (+54)
a methodical appresial still gives 172 rarity increase with 97% successrate

sooo....a statgain of 76 pts changes absolutely nothing? really? >_>


what are your rarity gains with which amount of perception on bright ele rocks?

Could u test out methodical on the regular 60 nodes? I find it hard to believe that much stat gain does nothing. I'm thinking the ephemeral nodes have a cap of sorts.

There is a cap to how much it can hit for. 115 max, or 172 with 50% bonus. Once you hit those values perception wont add to it anymore.

is there any usefull strategy to hit 8/8 with max perc or is it just luck based?
I can get 7/8 nearly everytime, but theres still something missing for 8/8

8/8 seems to be just for landborne(and seaborne?) aethersand, which isnt used for anything yet to my knowledge.

Also, radiant moraines (and any other ''hidden'' items) are best used for their clusters; they seem to have a lower drop chance on aethersand.
So you'll want to collect those in quantity rather then collectibility. (need about rank 3 for decent amounts of clusters)


For hitting rank 8 theres a bit of luck required.
Start off with an Impulsive (this is where the luck is needed). If it doesnt proc you can use more impulsives and collect. (dont use GP)
Click 2 different nodes to reactive the Ephemeral node. (any 2 nodes that arent next to each other will work)

Repeat that untill your first Impulsive procs its buff.



Once it procs the buff: use

(since you already reached rank 8 at this point it wont matter much which you use last)
This should give you 600 orso Collectibility. (@ perception cap)

Which methods is best used to get 7/8 everytime? I'm assuming this is only 1 item?

The traditional dis -> meth x3 for 600 gp will put you around 500-520 everytime

Thanks for the tip! I'm assuming that will get u 7/8 most of the time?

I've noticed occasionally 550 only give 7/8 but 551+ would be 8/8. So i guess its safe to assume that 500-550 gives u 7/8.

Probably. I've never not hit 7/8 with that rotation and one gather.

Though this should change Thursday when they up the points per perception towards the appraisals which is currently capped at 115
