How potent is Asylum?

Whenever I cast this spell I can hardly see the ticks. How strong is Asylum compared to Medica 2 or Regen? Is it better at higher levels?

Love the way the spell looks, make pulls a little easier but when I say little I mean it. What does everyone else think of this spell?

It's regen is higher than medica 2, lower than regular regen. For me at i180 it's around 500 per tic.

I don't know why you don't see the numbers, Aslyum has a separate tic. So with regen med 2 and asylum up you'll see two tics. One for regen and med 2, and one for asylum.

I remember Asylum ticking for something around 500±50 as well.

As an ability, Asylum is a nice addition when a tank takes repeating damage from something and a dose of Regen isn't enough. Same goes for placing the bubble around DPS that I can't be bothered to heal properly. Right now my biggest issue with it is that I keep forgetting I have it. Assize is easier to remember because it plays a part in MP management.

It is probably the worst out of all the new WHM abilities. Asylum is not that good since the HoT is considerably weak and seems to proc slowly (compared to Regen/Medica II). However, it is useful since it costs zero MP and has a decent recast timer.

Just know when to use it to its fullest potential in addition to Regen and Medica II, like when a tank and the melee DPS are dealing with a large group of enemies; or in Ravana EX when the tank is taking damage while you're kiting the tethered orbs; or even in A4 when you're targeted with that brutal DoT.

It would be much better, though, if it could be affected by Divine Seal.

I like it. It's free, and most instances of damage tend to be infrequent enough to let Asylum work its magic. Not to mention, most fights let you stack with little consequence as well, making it essentially a Medica II.

In all other cases... meh, free Cure II and a bit more on the tank over 24 seconds? :p

Of all the new WHM abilities, Asylum is definitely the weakest. It's very situational at level 60 due to how hard enemies hit and the fact that Asylum can't be buffed via Divine Seal to compensate. Changing it to be a "spell" would do wonders towards addressing the lack of heal output (especially since it ignores WAR Defiance)

On the bright size, they are considering buffing the stuff depending on feedback received during the Savage mode of Alexander. I'll admit having Warriors in your daily roulette is slightly more annoying when Tetragrammaton and Asylum isn't as sexy on them. :p

full i180, weapon 190, he proc at 700-750 and he proc not slowly that the other regen, that alway on tic server like alway ^^

personnaly, i realy like it, they add lot of aoe dmg at repetition in boss, bismark/ravana/Alex, i use it a lot *_*
he cant be boosted by divine sin, but in the other way he cant be reducted by the debuff heal (like in A1) like the 2 other new skill ^^

I argue vehemently against a potential change from ability to spell. Unless I'm mistaken, the current abilities also ignore healing debuffs, which is a tool I'd rather keep. Besides, the new abilities can be used practically all the time in dungeons. They have low cooldowns and spend no resources, further improving the white mage's mana efficiency.

At every point you'd be able to Assize something in the face, you can drop Asylum to reduce the number of regens or cures you need to place on the party. At 800 potency over 24 seconds, it's weaker than Regen (1050 over 21s) but stronger than Medica II (200 + 500 over 30s) assuming no crits and party members stay inside. If they don't, no mana have been spent anyway and now there's a reason to berate your fellow players.

For what it is the healing should be stronger or it should have some other benefit to it like reduced damage it's a skill that can only be used on one area mostly used on the Tank but it's not really doing anything to help anyone except top up other regen spells a tiny bit.

i confirm ^^ they are not impacted by debuff heal, and that a realy realy nice thing ^^

I find asylum extremely useful. Run Ravanna extreme with a few melee DPS, you can keep them healed and in case they hit his shield you can focus on blessing their slow debuff of focus on healing the tank. Let alone you can also drop it with a regen and go cleric to help out with the DPS checks. Another example I find it useful is on Bismarck's back, it allows you to heal the DoT before the next one hits with out having to use MP to heal. Remeber the new abilities other then Tetra are useful for the time you just don't want to spend MP or stay in Cleric for a minute like a scholar to help DPS. :)

It doesn't proc slowly and it's not even weaker than Medica 2. I counted a tick every 3s, like regen & Medica 2. And I can't agree with you saying it's the worst new WHM abilities.

Asylum in 15s heals as much as the regen of Medica 2 in 30s, because Asylum last half the time of Medica 2 but is twice powerful (100 potency vs 50). Then, 9s of Asylum left such as the basis pure heal of Medica 2.

Medica 2 pure heal is for me at ilvl183 around 1420.

Asylum ticking 3 times in these 9s left is, for me at same ilvl, around 720 x 3 = 2160.

So the totale difference between Asylum and Medica 2 is that Asylum heals for around 650-750 HP more.

Conclusion 1 : yes it is weaker than regen, but it is overall as potent as Medica 2 and compared to the Aspected benefic of the AST (same potency and lasts 18s) Asylum is also slightly better.

Conclusion 2 : whenever a mechanic demands the potency of a Medica 2 and you can Asylum instead (the raid isn't too spread, ect), just do it and save MP.

It stacks with regen, medica 2 HoT and them all combined is a healthy dose of HoT.

And by healthy I mean huge.

Oh and it stacks with AST HoT's too.

Now think about that.


If a large amount of spaced out "tiny damage" ... like think about 1,000 tiny hits spaced over the course of 10 seconds... this HoT combination could be huge in migrating the need to pull out big heals.


Either way I am confident that there are many situations in which stacking HoT effects can be super effective.

I think it's a great ability, people shouldn't complain. Would you prefer that instead they gave us something like Disable from AST? :)

You really can't complain about a mana free 800 potency aoe hot.

Asylum ticks for 2/3s the power of your Regen though cannot be affected by healing boosting abilities like Defiance, Divine Seal, Fey Illumination, etc.

With that being said, I find Asylum to be highly potent. A free 800 potency cure over the course of 24 seconds to anyone who's within it is very useful. I do wish it had a bigger radius, but if placed properly, players can move appropriately while still remaining within the bubble. As some BLMs have mentioned, put your Ley Lines down, and sit on an edge of the circle. Then dodge to the other edge so you can still be within the Ley Lines. Asylum can work in the exact same way.

For me, Asylum is just another Divine Seal + Regen that's more bursty, since you're getting a 250 potency / tick per heal for 24 seconds with Asylum + Regen versus a 195 potency / tick heal that actually lasts approximately 36 seconds with Regen + Dive Seal.

Well they are using the older definition of the word, even though the modern definition tends to trump it as the first thing in people's minds.

I would have preferred the name of "Sanctuary" to fit within the holy/religious-motif of WHM.

Asylum ticks stronger than Medica II but weaker than Regen. Though it's free, has a nice recast and is beautiful. It's another nice instrument in the WHM arsenal. I use it when I overHoT the tank before going full DPS or when I soloheal for example two separate tanks or groups. The only thing I don't like about it is the icon: why is it green and yellow? Makes no sense at all other than making my hotbar uglier, if Stone 3 wasn't ugly enough already >.>

Not sure what these people are talking about with 500 ticks.. Mine is right about 700 all i180. It's basically the same exact healing per cast as an AST's Collective Unconscious, only it lasts a bit longer. My CU on AST ticks for 1000, but the duration is equally shorter. My Regen on WHM ticks for about 1000-1300 as well depending.

It is not situational. It is not useless. Spam the hell out of it. It's free healing and very easy to use. Throw it down on the tank ANY time your tank stops moving and it's not on cool down. It lasts 24 seconds. It's a great spell

funny fact. the most comfortable rund in duty roulette (the fractal continuum) i hade, was with a warri tank. he avoided/mitigated the damaged at the endboss that well, that i could deal damage about 60-70% of the time. usualy i learned this fight as quite annoying as a healer.

It's kinda hard to appreciate exactly how powerful Asylum is, but much like Regen, people will learn to. 800 potency healing for potentially multiple targets over time, without a single point of MP? Hella. Hell, that's more than Tetragrammaton does if someone stays in it the entire time. I've taken to alternating Asylum's cooldown with Divine Seal for Regens where possible, because either DS+Regen or Regen+Asylum is plenty enough to keep tanks up in almost all cases so I can do other things.

I'd almost take offense to the idea it's the worst of the new WHM skills if not for the fact that, frankly, all five new abilities WHM got are amazing.

Not very potent. I use it mostly on big pulls along side divine seal/regen so I can get some dps in. I also use it in 8 man fights with regen on whichever tank is needing extra healing.

Not sure why people are complaining, and while I wouldn't argue about it getting buffed...I would hate to see drastic changes to how it works. This along with pretty much every single new ability just adds the utility that WHM was lacking, and makes it feel like I have more control of the flow of battles. I want to DPS a lot, divine sealed regen + asylum, in standard dungeon runs it means i don't have to even think about the tank for 20 seconds. DPS taking ongoing damage or I just want to herd them somewhere, throw up asylum.

I now have 4 aoe heal options, 3 regen options, two insta cast heals, 2 mana regen abilities, and 3 AOE DPS spells. I LOVE how all of these things work together now. And looking at an ability like asylum on it's own just ignores the effect it has as part of your entire arsenal
