Oh when normal mode drops ilvl 170 gear and makes all the hunt nastiness non-essential.
Both of the new EX primals aren't even that difficult, both fights are just DPS checks, if you're geared enough then it's simple.
So with that in mind, I have a feeling Alex NM won't be super difficult.
Damn and here I was expecting a Team Rocket speech. I am disappoint. ;_;
So I'm a little behind on info, but would love to know ->
Did they say they woudl be harder than Extreme trials? I was of the impression they're basically going to be faceroll easy casual content.
Did they say Alexander will be i170? Because I was hoping NM would be i180 (You know, the thing that might actually make hunts non-essential) with Savage mode being 190 or 200 (Esoterics being the same without hunts)
You have not been helpign people in learning parties. ;-; I am literally out-dps'ing dragoons / monks / ninjas / bards / mechanists / basicalyl anything with a pulse : as my WAR in right-side STR gear while tanking the add in Defiance full time. It's really... pathetic.
Though my DRG easily outperforms my Warrior DPS... so probably a difference of knowledge at that point.
Difficulty will adjust with gear, experience and nerfs.
Prepare for Trouble, and make it Double.

FFXIV, blast off at the speed of light!
Surrender now, or prepare to cry!
Well at least the goblins can make some cheese to go with people's whine. Illuminati cheese at that.
Called that when they announced 2 difficulties of Alex. Don't forget the whines if Alex savage will drop the best gear in game XD Better than Esoterics. I've heard it will be +5 ilvl over Esoterics, maybe thats just the weapon, can't say for certainty. We will find out soon I guess tho.
Which some are people are expecting, thus the complaints when they find out it isn't. Even if it is the same difficulty as WoD, there won't be 24 players in which any underperforming can be covered by the rest, in 8 person everyone will count a lot more so players underperforming in the average party will have a much greater impact towards success or failure than 24 person content.
Hoping it would be a wake up call for those who don't care, that if they want to clear content they have to make an effort to step up their game to the standard needed to clear that content. But we all live in reality and it will be much easier to just jump on the forums and cry/demand nerfs to bring the content down to their level instead of improving their gameplay to the level required.

Teehee.
People will find anything to complain about OP. :3 BRACE YOURSELF!!!
"Alexander has both a normal (story) mode and a savage mode. The normal mode will be higher difficulty than that of the Extreme Primals, but easier than Second Coil of Bahamut's Savage Mode. This, of course, allows more players to enjoy the story. Like the turns of Coil, Alexander will broken up into sections, each with unique battle mechanics. Yoshida and his staff well recognize that Final Fantasy XIV has two types of players (the ones who want hardcore raiding, and everyone else), and they wanted to address the wants of both." (Source)
Most players are under the illusion that it will be faceroll easy msq like difficulty. The thing is that people were complaining about coil story gating and people were asking for a story mode. A while later, SE said the next raid will have 2 difficulties. One slightly easier then standard coil and one harder. Immediatly people assume the easier version will be faceroll story mode. They are in for a rough awakening...
Ya. Harder than ex primals but easier the scob savage? Uhm that's what coil was. Not exactly sure how they figure that's story mode lol. There are still people stuck on turn 5 and alot more on turn 9. The people that wanted to just experience the story still won't be able to. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Hah, thanks for citing the sources. If the Story is going to be harder than extremes, it looks like I might actually have fun clearing them tomorrow. I was worried this would be a complete joke. :)
Ravana Ex was pretty easy though. Guess I'll wait and see.
Why would normal only drop 170 gear? That'd make it nearly completely irrelevant.
Not to mention if it's going to be harder than ex primals it should be dropping gear that's either equivalent or better, not 20 item levels worse.
Prepare for the b*t*hing about weekly lock outs and how it's unfair that they can't get what they really wanted because they lotted on a stupid belt on Tuesday and now the robe dropped on Saturday.
Lol. I just wonder what people's excuse will be this round.
2.0: there should be a story version because it's relevant to the 1.0 story!
3.0: there should be an easier version because it's relevant to... Goblins?
Alexander normal is gonna be on the token system -- each boss drops a token, and you turn them in for gear. The example given was kill all 5 bosses and you can turn them in for the chestpiece.
Not sure if gear will drop normally in addition to that, or if it's just the tokens. Hoping it's the dual-system like they have with Ravana EX and whatnot.
How is pre-emptively smug posting even a thing? "I bet people in the future will complain about this thing, but not me, I'm the best (in the future)"
Seriously --- doesn't sound any different from Coil, which will in fact disappoint/surprise some people. Coil isn't ridiculous, but it _does_ require either a static or lots and lots of time in PF. Those without significant time to burn won't be able to complete it, same as with Coil.
But old statements from devs (or even current statements) are not always accurate about actual difficulty (didn't they say Heavensward overworld mobs would be more difficult than ARR? And thats only true if more HP = difficult). We'll find out soon enough.
Basically if you do all of Alexander every week, you can get 1 piece of armor and 1 accessory. If you forgo the accessory every week, you can get an extra piece of armor after 4 weeks (meaning you can get Head, Chest, Hands, Legs and Feet in 4 weeks but no accessories).
Well it says tokens come from the treasure coffers so odds are there wont be 8 tokens in there. So even statics will have to clear every turn multiple times every week for everyone to get their tokens. Hopefully theres more than 1 token per chest or else thats 8 runs a week for a static or potentially far more runs if you're puging it.
Judging by how the upgrades currently work via Hunt Gear...
Belt & Accessories = 1 Each
Feet, Head, Hands = 2-3 Each (Would prefer 2 on this one but who knows how SE plans to do it)
Body/Legs = 4 Each?
If they do 2 for Feet/Head/Hands, your ideal upgrade path is going to be doing your Feet/Head Week 1, Hands/Earring/Necklace week 2, Then body Week 3, Legs week 4. Then your last two slots week 5.
If they do 3 for Feet/Head/Hands, your ideal upgrade path is going to be doing your Body Week 1, Legs week 2, then choosing between upgrading all your accessories week 3 (4), or doing One Accessory + One left-side every week.
It's going to be an interesting balance game to be sure...
I pray it's a case of being like the EX Primal totems and /everyone/ gets a totem for clearing the turn. Making it any other way is just asking for massive amounts of frustration. How many farm parties actually go for 8+ runs? I find it difficult to find people who stick around after they get theirs, and at that point, you're better off just doing DF.
