do you guys think theyll keep adding new skills in future expansions?

im guessing in a year or 2 the enxt expansion will be out and itll probly be safe to bet the lvl cap will be increased to 70

will we get another 5 new skills considering classes like SCH and SMN pretty much have no room to put stuff into.

especially for dps classes if they introduced whole new skills that also needs the old skills to work together with he new skills (DRG and botd)

i personally wont mind if 60 to 70 we get mostly trait for the 50-60 skills. maybe one skill at 70

makes sense tho more levels increased more skills added.. would be pretty boring if raised cap to 80 n had no new skills to play with :P

Yeah but people are already moaning and groaning about the amount of skills we have now.
It would help if they added more jobs then start up with skills again.

I love theamount of skills. I feel it keeps things interesting and fun to play. Lots more keyboard space my hand can stretch to for keybinds.

I would love more traits as well.

I think we need more passive abilities that either add more effects or such. As it is I feel like I'd have to start making macros for multiple skills just to have enough room for everything if I got anymore.

Would find traits that make current skills more complex (in a useful way, not just for the sake of complexity) could be a good way to go for some future growth without too much bloat (not exclusively talents ofc!).

I think a more likely case is we start to see 'replacement' skills.

Or at some point down the line there'll be some cleanup and consolidation.

There is already replacement skills. Like you can replace broil with ruin as scholar, stone 2 can be replaced with stone 3 as whm, malefic can be replaced with malefic 2 as astro. I see no point of using those previous versions anymore.

While I can't currently speak for the non-WHM healers, MP Cost is potentially a very real reason. It's part of the reason I still use Aero, even though it's 10 less potency - it's also like 30% less MP, and if I'm in a fight where I'm trying to max DPS while healing, I'm often running on fumes towards the end of the fight.

I don't want more skills. Modified versions of existing skills sure, but more skills would lead to bloat.

Broil and Stone III is a good way to go OOM on both of those healers. Same with malefic 2.

You have to take mana cost into account.

Stone 2 costs 442 MP with 170 Potency, Stone 3 is 530 with 210 potency.
That works out to 0.3846 potency per MP for stone 2, and 0.396 potency per MP for stone 3.

So, no. for WHM stone 3 is more MP efficient.

Scholar's broil is a different story though.

Currently there is enough skills as it is and adding more would just be insane for the amount of skills you will need on your bar and personally im not a fan of that. Personally, i want them to add a few more traits/passives for existing skills.

SE doesn't seem to know how to do skill balancing and there should've been some new traits in 3.0 but everything seemed rushed and half-done.

New traits that combine skills maybe.

Like a trait that when you cast say bio. It will cast either bio 2 or 1 depending on the remaining time on the dots

Or say combining heavy thrust with that always crit lifesteal attack

Or making jump crit attack a buff that you get automatically every 30 sec

There arr lots of possibilities

I mean full thrust :(

If they're going to add more skills, I think a certain system would have to be created to fit these skills into hotbars.

Macro helps a bit, but they're inefficient compared to manual execution.

I suggested a similar system to the controller's "cross-bar" where we can combine two keys, example: ctrl + alt, to access another hotbar mapped onto your existing main hotbar. You can use your skill and immediately release ctrl + alt, and you'll get your main hotbar again.

And then you run a low level roulette for tomestones and go, "Why aren't any of my skills working?!"

Some proper support for one button as multiple skills would help.

Fast - Savage - Halone, hit fast, auto-changes to savage if I hit, auto-changes to halone if I hit, resets. Repeat.
Same for Fast - Riot - Goring and I've managed to drop 2 buttons at least :).

Level synced stuff.

Different effects and mana costs. Spell I to Spell II to Spell III etc isn't linear, and if I stop casting Benefic in favor of Beneficial II I'm going to be oom quick.

Same with Ruin III, which is mostly cast under Dreadwyrm Trance because dat 500+ MP cost...

I'd like more traits to enhance our already decent amount of skills available.

I think they are about the max number now but will combine some to add some keeping the number of skills the same.

I suspect it will start to be upgraded versions like Rage of Halone II or Fury of Halone. Where it adds an additional hit or higher dmg but takes up same combo slot. I'm already at way too many icons as it is, but more can't hurt. I can't imagine playing with the cross hotbar at all though.

Most mmorpg add more skills and streamline/remove older skills in expansions. World of Warcraft has removed alot of skills and they also streamline skills every expansion, this way the player wont have to many skills on their hotbar. This expansion streamlined SCH Selene skills, merging two skills into one is a example of what can happen in the future.

sorry to many its a pain to have to switch though cross bars on the ps4 keep adding more skills .. sure i could use a mouse and keyboard but why can i not just use the controller.. keep adding skills to the tree and slowly it will become pointless to play on a console using a controller !!

60 drk fine new class i use 12 of the job skills so I'm not fucking around swapping cross bars to use 1-2 skill that i need.. and I'm sure it hurts my dps etc.
58 ninja so far seriously wtf skills have you given me that help some silly smoke bomb HUH and that armour crush skill that half the time the defuff doesnt show up even when performed from the flank.. i don't get it then the ( can't even think of the name now the decoy enmity 80% one) i have found all of 0 fucking use for this skill!!

Efficient for damage, yes. Still more costly however, because you're using more MP in the same timeframe.

What I'd like to see are things like Ruin III replacing Ruin I during Dreadwyrm Trance, or Fire IV/Blizzard IV replacing Fire III and Blizzard III respectively while Enochian is up.

I'd *love* to free up some keybinds. Controller space is also at a premium here, as they don't just use those bars for abilities, and I don't/can't use an MMO mouse so I'm pretty much limited to 10 buttons I can comfortably hit without drastically altering my keybindings.

As it is, I click CDs when I DPS.

The only thing I want right now to clean up hot bar space is to make it so the hot bars switch if I enter a stance/ For example, if I switch to Cleric Stance then hotbars one and 2 will then get replaced with the damage spells and then switching back out brings the healing spells back.

Macros won't help in most cases because they suck in this game. Yes there will be more skills (literally every mmo gets new abilities added eventually), just see WoW as a reference for what will happen once abilities get too bloated.

Not until they make the wait timers more flexible and allow queueing them.

Dunno what the fuss is, i've only got 3 hotbars filled with skills on PS4 depending on class, so technically still have 5 hotbars free for new skills
that 80 new skills that can still be added before I run out of space :P

When you do Low Level Roulette, you will need those lower level skills for the dungeon runs, or you will be SOL. I learned that the hard way when I took out Ruin and replaced it with Ruin II, and couldn't attack anything other than using enfeebling abilities.

It's 88 more mp. If that's gonna really push you into going oom, then you shouldn't be dpsing. If you're talking about spamming, then you should spam stone3 until it's not safe anymore rather than spamming stone 2 for slightly longer, because stone 3 is a better damage to mp ratio - assuming you spend the same amount of mp stone 2 will have done less damage. Stone 2 is actually just useless outside of level sync.

Stuff they can do imo is add a new skill option interface:

- allow linking of two self buffing ogcds that will show both halves of the icon on one slot (or what's available) and triggers the skill based on priority or what's available without having the queue penalty
- allow combining of combos into one button (you select in the menu what the order of the combo, game gives you the special icon, place it on hotbar). basically you can concise heavy, brutal, butcher, maim, storm eye, storm path into 3 buttons.

Yeah, this sounds too convenient for some people maybe but it's just a suggestion. I could do much more complex stuff on wow but eh, that was before the skill pruning they had in cata.

Next expansion it wouldn't surprise me if they only increased level cap by 5 (like they did with FFXI after the first Japan-only expansion increased it to 60).

I'm hoping that if they do new abilities that it's only traits. Skill bloat can get out of hand.
