So this 1 year anniv. event.

When does it actually start? Going to a tent and then being told to go to some place I've already been isn't really an event. Free 1k seals is nice and all but I was expecting something with actual substance.

They never said there would be a 1 year anniversary event. The current Foundation Day event is simply to get us pumped for the grand company changes coming this Friday.

Delayed.

The patch, that is.

But ya, the 30th is the official anniversary date and though we are getting the patch few days late, that's more than enough for me. You know, progress being made on the game. That's a nice anniversary gift.

They said they wanted to do something for 1 year anniversary, but the events aren't always going to be something grand, they're just little side activities.

This isnt a "big and wonderful event which gave me thousands of hours full of fun", but SE never said it will be.
Sooooo.... a tent with 4 NPCs talking about their Grand Company, 1000 free seals, new fireworks and 6 achievements are still better than nothing.

Seeing how this is more related to Grand companies looking for members than a 1 year anniversary event, from a new player perspective, seeing the NPC's /saying stuff and drawing them to what GC's are is mission complete for me!

I'm actually wondering why SE would even take out the NPCs and the tent when this "event" is over. They add a bit of flair to otherwise empty spots in the cities and it's not like a seasonal event that wouldn't make sense to keep going endlessly. Plus, they are advertising for the Grand Companies, drawing in new players (if there are any) to seek them out.

Im not sure if that's Sarcasm or not, but SE did Officially say that that patch has been played yet, They said there's a chance it might, but no Official word on it :P

Woo, 1k seals that I can use to buy nothing interesting! My main city doesn't even sell Gladiator gear so it doesn't matter.

This 'event' is as bad as the bells. Go interact with something, get free stuff. If that's your thing then you should be pitied. Not by me, though.

Yeah, I think he is just putting his mind on it being a couple days late because it's better to expect a delay since they happen more often than not, but you're right. He never said that it definitively will be late. I think they are actually trying really hard to release it on time because it's their anniversary date. I also think it will be on time for that very reason, but then again... better 2-4 days late than being released on time, but without a couple of things we'd have to wait for in an A or B patch.

when 1.19 comes out there will be interesting things to buy with seals, like... chocobos.

Grand company was another part of the game that would appear had never been finished by the time the game was released.

Oh wow, chocobos. /sarcasm. Hopefully they can take damage so I can just run into aggro mobs and let them die. That'll be worth getting one for. Especially if I can /dance on the dead body.

Unless there's Gladiator gear in the maelstrom shop with Limsa flair then there won't be anything worth getting for me.

Buy dark matter with it. Also, did you know that companies give scrolls that provide your Gatherer or Crafter with an SP bonus? Cost 200 seals per scroll and last til you hit about 10-12k with the bonus up. They are like crack.

You are just being short sighted. Just because they don't help you and don't provide anything for you doesn't mean Company Seals don't for other people.

Edit: also, you can purchase equipment for GLA in other cities. They haven't forced you to side with one company yet. You can side with them all. Do some Company missions and get more seals, put a Toto-Rak raid group together to get more seals in that city and buy yourself something nice. You're only stopping yourself from gaining anything, really.

This! It's NOT a huge "jim-will-fixit" event. It will be a changeof pace "we wanna show we love you all" event. Take a moment to enjoy it. You never know, you may endup enjoying yourselves for a few minutes :D

Those exp scrolls are so useless it's not even funny. It lasts like 5k or so, not anywhere close to 10k. Mine lasted like 20 minutes of lazy crafting.

I said it lasts until you hit 10-12k, didn't say the bonus alone was 5k. It may be 5k, but since I didn't know definitively what the figure was... I shared what I did know. Also, they are certainly not useless.

Since it's a fixed amount it is almost certainly useless for anyone above 25ish.
