How can I tell which Master craft books I already have?

there's a lot of crafted items. looking at what's available on my list of items to craft isn't helping because i dont know what should be there or not.

i'm pretty sure i have all the mastercraft I books, but mastercraft II books, no. I dont even know which ones i've got and i can't keep track. i know i got one for WVR and i think I got one for BSM? how can i tell what master craft books i've already done so i don't make them twice?

Yeah this annoys me too. There's no record of which books have been purchased, so if you can't remember which ones you already bought you have to research the recipes you have to find out where they come from.

they should do the same think as they do with TT Cards,
when you go to the npc to sell cards you see a check mark if owned already and if you didn't include it into your collection no check mark appears.

You can have a look at XIVDB in the recipes section, then see if you have the top recipes on the list.

There is a very simple way: Masterbook II is the only place with 4* recipes. If you have 4* recipes of that particular class, then you have the book; otherwise you dont.

Same with the 3-stars you need for the master 2 book and if you have the lvl 60 recipes then you have master 3.

Another thing that bugs me is that they add recipes later for master books that already existed, and I have no idea which master book unlocked some 1* or 2* master crafts.

Some friends ask me which one it comes from and i honestly have no idea. I just have them.

One of them swears he doesnt have the new 2* Crystal Glass ALC craft in his crafting log (he didn't have any of the previous ALC master books).

IMO they should add an extra line after "Quick synthesis unavailable" saying " Masterbook I recipe" or "Masterbook II recipe" just to make it clear from which book it comes from.

Crystal Glass is a normal 2* craft without any masterbook requirement afair

Indeed. It took me a while to find it because of this. Look for it in the 45-50 part of the crafting log, it should be all the way at the bottom in there.

Same Problem here, I really would like to see some checklist menu (patch 3.02 ahoy) where you can see whats avail and whats missing.

You could check the master books in this list here (they list which recipes are unlocked for each master book) and compare which recipes you have available ingame. It's a bit unhandy, but better than nothing :D

^ this works for crafters books too. You don't need the items required to purchase it, you just go and try to purchase it and you'll get the error message if you have it already (make sure it's the one that says you have too many and not the one that says you don't have enough items).

uhh, also just click on them at the vendor. The game doesn't let you buy unique untradable items you've already used, such as the mastercraft and folklore books, mounts, minions and music scrolls.
don't remember when they added this, but it's been quite a while now

....

Hit N to open your crafting menu. Select the craft you wish. Click special recipes, all the possible books will be listed. Click the book in question, you will either see recipes or none. Do I need to mention that if you see recipes you have the book and if you see none you don't?

Exactly what is the problem this thread seeks to address?

So the answer to your question is to look more closely at the original post. The original post was 3 years ago, and the thread had been dead for 33 months before nightcrawler necro'd it. The UI has been updated more then once since this was originally brought up.

Master craft books
Triple triad cards.
Orchestration rolls.

All those sorts of things should be searchable I think.

I find it weird that if you try to buy an orchestration from a vendor it tells you if you have it. But if a roll or card drops from a raid or dungeon or something there's no way to check if you already have it in your collection


Be nice if you could click the roll or card in the loot list and search for it.
Same thing if you look up rolls on the market board

I seem to recall the old version having a section for master recipes(one for ARR and one for HW master books) and then you could scroll through the list even eventually figure out if you had all the books by whether or not each book was present on the list. With the new version each book is now separated out as its own category. But i could be remembering it wrong.

I know this is unrelated, but does anyone know how to sell 'Master Goldsmith: Glamours?'
I accidentally bought the wrong book, can't use it, but it's also unsellable and I can't throw it away either. ;_;

There's two ways:

1). Go to the Crafts -> Other Recipes.

You'll see

Master Recipes (1)
Master Recipes (2) ....

If you don't see it there, then you don't have the book (or if you click it, it says "no recipes of this kind" I think? something like that)

Also, I'm pretty sure if you TRY to buy a book that you already read, it will say "You can only carry one of those unique items" even though you don't have the physical book item on you.

You can't sell it. You can only throw it away if you have already used that book. (So if you accidentally buy two of the same book, you can throw away the second copy after you have used the first.)
To get rid of it you need to use it. If you can't use it, you need to learn how.

That's really a bummer. So I basically waste space unless I decide to level another crafter to be able to use that book? Seems like a big design oversight. Oh, well.

"It is a feature, not a bug."

The design is that way to prevent people from accidentally discarding their (potentially) quite expensive master craft books.
Now, if I remember right one only needs to be level 15 to use the glamour books. Leveling a crafter to level 15 can easily be done in just one hour or less.

Yeah, I'll prolly just buy some cheap materials and make myself cozy in the Firmament.
