Problem with Cleric Stance?

For the longest time I've weaved cleric stance between globals (cast bio ii, midcast click cleric stance, queue up heal on the tank - bio finishes, cleric drops and heal starts casting). Now on too many occasions this malfunctions in dungeons where cleric doesn't drop or takes excessive time to turn off. This was working fine at heavensward launch even.

I can't tell if this is because of a bug, some new kind of latency of my own or the game's fault, or something I'm doing strangely. Upon testing, it seems to function fine on the training dummy outside my house.

Has anyone else similar issues or know what's going on?

Yep happening to me too, it's incredibly laggy turning off. I end up double tapping to get it off but it's so slow it turns back on and then I have to wait to turn it off again.

Hmm, I always had this issue and I am pretty sure it's latency related. I am playing from the EU though..

I had this issue too before the expansion. Try not to switch off cleric in the middle of an animation of another spell. For instance, do not lustrate/eye for an eye/virus/indomitability/deployment tactics and a long etc of instant SCH casts and then in the same 0.2 seconds switch off cleric, because many times it won't work, give it at least a half of a second before you attempt to disable cleric, if you do it all at the same time there will be many times where it won't work.

This has been an issue for me since HW. Honestly, I think they just need to take cleric stance off the GCD.

Been having this issue, myself. Thought it was just me, but I guess not. It seems somehow different from before 3.0.

Still works normally for me. I.e. like the OP described with toggling it mid-cast for something, then it turning off after that cast. Haven't noticed anything wrong with it. Maybe a latency issue?

I have been noticing this as well. I had no problem weaving it before but lately I've noticed myself stuck in it as I'm trying to get a heal off. Definitely a new thing because I haven't changed the way I play. And it's not latency because I live in the Northeastern US so the servers aren't all that far away and I have an excellent connection typically.

I have this issue all the time. It has definitely gotten much worse since Heavensward came out and I do think latency plays a bit of a role in it (Bismark EX and Ravana EX are both very texture heavy so I lag in them horrifically), but I've also had it just not drop during a small trash pull despite having 50+ fps and a decent connection. I've also had a huge problem with my spells randomly canceling after I tried to turn off Cleric, in the end I'd still have Cleric on and whoever might have died because my Cure II never happened at all.

Same here, and I never encountered this issue before. The stance dance used to be so smooth... Now it's sluggish.

I do the same thing - 'queuing' cleric to turn off before the dps cast is completed.

I've been having this case recently also (I just chalked it up to WHM burnout) - I never really had a problem before last week. I'd hit it while it was available and start healing..... for smidgeons.... only to find off it never went off. Caused a near wipe leveling in Bray NM on my AST. >_> Second boss - I was stuck in a bubble with the DPS tunnel visioning on the boss, the tank was the only one trying to get me out (along with me) but my HP is ticking + getting a face full of dragon breath because the tank is the only one trying x_x I switched from Cleric in trying to DPS my way out to heal..... that didn't turn out so well. The tank and I in dire straights with tiny heals - and with the two of us barely getting any HP on us, I didn't have any time to look at the problem - just slap Lightspeed and spam the AoE heal to keep us both alive. The two of us lived, barely, but...... I want to strangle cleric, now, when I see it still on.

I've also been having this problem. I thought it was just my bad play but there were times in Ravana where I knew I had queued cleric off but it remains on.

Mudra-gate now becomes Stance Dance-gate!

I had this problem excessively over the weekend. The whole 7 secs I could DPS wasted because too many times Cleric Stance hung and got my Essential Dignity.

They should just get rid of the stance dancing crap, let it only be used outside combat. Healers should just heal, not dps, its not their role. Its like saying the DPS should tank/heal. This is a Trinity type of MMO, keep it that way or change it to GW2 style.

Not with this BS again. Listen you may not like stance dancing but note that some people do. Just know that a healer that knows when it's safe to do and does dps instead of standing there like I assume you do. Just cause you don't like to do something doesn't mean people should listen to you. Get out if you have nothing good to say.

Cleric stance was created for the sole purpose of soloing. Stop trying with the excuse that a non dps healer isnt a good healer. Is that to say a non healing tank isnt good? why dont a PLD throw out some Cures then? ridiculous, this isnt GW2 lol. I bet you were the ones that wiped the raid when you tried to throw out a Holy, which caused the tank to die and wiped the raid. DPSing as a healer is a luxury not a necessity get that fact imbedded into your MMO brains.

or better yet just give all healers the cleric stance benefit without the penalty? but in all honesty, if SE really intended healers to dps, they would have already done that; stance switching is the dumbest game mechanic ive ever heard of, but i suppose to some its fun to click a million buttons.

This isn't the thread to debate the use of Cleric Stance. Please don't try making it as such. There are plenty of (buried) threads about this "issue"; make one of your own flame fest filled threads if you want, but stop trying to carry this debate to unrelated threads.

It's essentially latency related. It's always occasionally been a problem, but mind you that it's not necessarily a problem of *your* connection. The reason so many people are seeing it suddenly is because the duty servers are more loaded than they have been in many months, with a lot of players new and old playing that weren't before. Mudras face similar problems in duty servers (compare using them in the residential district to using them in the raid/Coil server on a Tuesday night, for instance).

If you're not DPSing when on Bismarck's back you're a liability to the group, I don't care what class you're playing as.

On topic, I too am having problems with it much more frequently then pre-Heavensward. Now I have to "make sure" I'm hitting Cleric Stance, otherwise I'm wondering why I'm not in Cleric Stance, or worse, out of it.

It could be but I'm not so sure. I'm not having issues getting out of AOE's or other spells acting sluggish. Why would latency only affect my CS?

In all honesty I find this view really narrow minded. Whilst FF is a Trinity type MMO we all need to be flexible within those roles ... healer dies, I can pop out a heal or two hopefully until we can rez them ... Tank dies we can summon Mr Tanky pet until we can rez ... DPS die or is lacking, healers can help with DPS ... I really don't see the problem here what so ever, it's called group work

I've just started healing on my conjurer and notice this quite often, but I also notice it on my SMN when moving between insta cast spells and cast time spells, so maybe it's a general problem rather than just being with Cleric Stance.

When I'm on Bismarck's back I'm loading up my hots and its breaking before I get my first combust 2 cast finished.

And no, I don't use cleric stance in groups. Yes, I've noticed its laggy.

I thought it was just me. I busted my tank yesterday because I wasted time dancing in and out twice and lustrate has been modified to become heal potency, so it can't help me out of the situation. It never happened to me before. It felt like I already out of the stance, but actually it wasn't.

Just throwing in my two cents - I've always had a minor issue/annoying with Cleric Stance in AAR. Now with HW being released, this issue seemed to have grown quite dramatically and I'm not sure if it's because I'm playing poorly or something was up with how the server is interfacing with my commands. I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing such an issue.

There have been times I'm having trouble keeping people up only to notice I'm still in Cleric Stance when I know I hit the button to turn it off. I've never had trouble before so hopefully they can fix it soon. I don't think it's a lag issue however because I'm not having issues with other skills, nor am I having issues getting out of AoEs, etc.

There are a lot of trinity MMO's where the healers were doing more than just healing and it's an old idea going back to the first MMORPG's. Games where healers do more than just heal are the better games in my opinion, since we're support characters, not just heal bots. I wish this game were designed for more of that and less of the spammy heal thing because it becomes more skillful, but it's still fun.
