High Level Roulette Unlocking

As a newer player coming to the game there is currently no reward to going back and doing these dungeons besides poetics which are pretty much useless, yet its necessary to do them all them to unlock this roulette if there not planning on adding exp for doing these dungeons I think they should remove the requirement of needing to do them all to unlock the roulette.

But otherwise you could manipulate the roulette to only be a few specific dungeons you like; that defeats the purpose. You help more people if you have all of them unlocked.

I think the "reward" is a brand new dungeon for you to try... as well as, you know, unlocking the roulette for bonuses.

Nope, I'm going to side with the OP on this one. The high level duty roulette as it stands is a complete and utter mess. To be fair, it's been a mess for a while now, with dungeons constantly relegated to this roulette as new ones are brought in. It was bad enough when we had Wanderer's Palace HM in the Expert roulette, now even that has been moved to the ever-expanding HM. So now we have everything from the pathetically weak level 50 dungeons to the much harder ilvl 90 dungeons in the same roulette. Why?

Frankly, it's gotten ridiculous and as I've mentioned in previous posts on the subject, just pushes the bar ever higher for newer players. There's really little to no incentive to unlock them all, since once you're past 50 you'll find the higher level dungeons more rewarding. The roulette itself isn't a good enough incentive, because the XP sucks and you can only earn tomes at level 60. At that point though, the number of tomes you earn is identical to just running a normal level 60 dungeon, so again there's still no real incentives.

I really hope SE either increases the rewards of these roulettes (preferably by adding XP to give players something to do from 50+) or breaking it down into smaller roulettes. I could be here all day picking out reasons why it's a terrible system currently, but I have a Paladin to level.

There should probably be a separate roulette made called "Level 50 roulette".

Maybe when we get more 60 dungeons.

I got to disagree here. Even if the dungeons are outdated, you should still have at least seen all of them. Some offer really interesting mechanics, some nice boss fights (Kraken comes to mind, also Siren) It's part of exploring the ARR world and the reward for said exploration is the roulette. Personally I did the unlocking in the days before HW and didn't regret the "loss" of time at all.

So if you don't want to explore, fine. Suit yourself. You gotta live with the fact, that you're not getting a certain thing though, just like with other exploration aspects on F XIV.

Btw., the much harder iLv 90 dungeons? How are those hard in this day and age? The only thing that might stop you there is ignoring too many mechanics and silly pugs.

I think the roulette should require all the dungeons as it is now, so ALL dungeons that people queue for can get filled not just the main scenario ones - I still know some people plan to finish their zodiac weapon for the sake of finishing it.

The High level roulette isn't what needs fixing, its the dungeons in that roulette that need to be adjusted - rewards, exp, whatever

Because new players get ilevel 90 gear from the job quests. Ilevel 90 is now the new lv50 content starting gear.

You're sitting on a pedestal of high level jobs and equipment, of course those dungeons are going to be easy. However, compare and contrast that to doing Wanderer's Palace in the same equipment. It's not just easier, it's almost completely threatless. Even the big scary tonberries can't scratch you unless you make some hideously big mistakes.

So yes, those level 90 dungeons are much harder than the level 50 gear ones. It's only natural that they would be. Notice I used the word 'harder' not 'hard', there's a clear difference. Now, further to these issues is that those low tier dungeons because of their ease also give even fewer rewards than the higher tier ones in the same roulette. So if you do your roulette and wind up with Amdapor Keep you're actually getting less tomes than someone doing Snowcloak or Keeper of the Lake.

As for exploring, that's all well and good but you need to look at it from the perspective of a new player. People enjoying the storyline will want to continue progressing through it. That means ultimately by the time they get around to doing those dungeons, they've either already hit 60 or they're leveling a new job. Either way, there's still fewer incentives due to the longer queue times since everyone has now moved on.

Queuing for a specific dungeon in the roulette is painfully slow going at the moment, and it will only get worse if the rewards remain as horrible as they already are.

Assuming you're right and they've changed the quest rewards to give Cleric's instead of Healer's gear, you're only proving my point. With ilvl 90 gear, there's even LESS incentive to do those low tier dungeons because you've already outgeared them by miles just for hitting level 50. It means you're no longer restricted by item level requirements, so you can skip ahead to the bigger beefier dungeons with larger rewards.

They could easily create a 2.0 and 3.0 High roulette once we get more dungeons and place Law tomes as the reward for 2.0 roulette and esoteric tomes as the reward for 3.0 roulette.

High level roulette will probably get more xp eventually. They stated that they didn't want people to use them to level too quickly and adding xp to these dungeons beyond the bonuses they currently give would have been game breaking. I know many people, that had these given xp would 5 or more classes at 60 by now. After alexander savage is released I suspect we'll start seeing more xp. This happened at launch too, and gradually they increased it.

high lvl gives lawtomes bam your incentive once you hit 60, it also gives exp for completion of the duty if you're under 60 also good.

just because the monsters/bosses don't give exp doesn't mean there isn't reason.

If you think High Level roulette is wonky, the new Low Level roulette includes the dungeons between 51 and 59. Basically, High Level is now all L50 dungeons, Expert is all level 60 dungeons and low level is everything else. It would be nice to have a few more roulette groupings.

What I'd like to at least see them do is automatically unlock high level roulette once you hit 50 or 60 now, instead of forcing people to have to individually queue for each of the many dungeons before they can use the roulette itself. They did that with Trials roulette in the expansion, if you didn't have it unlocked pre-HW it unlocked for you now. There's really zero reason to force people to have to run each one separately at this point once they hit 50/60.

Not much reward in wasting an hour on dungeons that reward no experience.

I avoided the high level roulette myself.

Hmmm maybe they plan on adding these to low level when the next round of expert dungeons hit and continue their normal high level roulette progression. Expert become high level and new dungeons become expert.

It's not wonky, low is all the dungeons that reward xp. High is the dungeons that don't.

So you have two choices.
Useless Dungeon Que (Can reward 150k-200k experience!) [Honestly, might as well not run it, and run a faster dungeon.)
Good Dungeon Que (Can reward 200k+150k-200k experience!)

Once we get more dungeons for 3.0 then there will most likely be a 3.0 high level and a 2.0 high level. However I do think its important for new players to still do all the dungeons and learn all the different mechanics.
