Where can I get more Commercial Survival Manuals?

I was given 3 for free from somewhere as complimentary 1 time sort of thing, but not sure where to get more.

I checked xivdb and it showed it as a quest reward from 3 different side quests. Two of these quests were Ixal beast tribe quests, and other a Sahagin beast tribe quest, and these quests were gathering quest. Do beast tribes give gathering quests now? I always knew Ixal as crafting and Sahagin as combat.

I got a total of nine from quests. that was three each from the HW starting level 50 Fisherman, Botanist, and Miner quests.

I've seen more for some blue gatherering scrip in idyllshire.

That's where I got my 3 was from the HW level 50 Botanist quest as I'm leveling Botanist. So if the others only come from scrips, then how are Botanists leveling at such a decent pace? Food on its own is not enough to get you a decent pace, and leves are limited. Are they still using the old Company Survival Manual II?

Collectables. Gathering things like Old World Fig (240 Collectability) and the other Collectables that Rowena's shop wants is worth a TON of exp. Those nodes pop every 12 game hours, but only for an hour.

Quite honestly, I saved all of those manuals for fishing. Since that seems to me to be the harder one to get the collectables for. I was leveling mining and botany together, and at the 10, 12, or 2 oclock times there was always something for me to collect.

Psh power ur way thru with manuals and commercial manuals. Do leves for completion exp / fast exp and have buffs up.
Do not level gathering if u haven't unlocked flying in most of the zones.

Leves, I found, were a good supplement to Collectables, but in any given game day, Collectables provided me a lot more experience than gathering Leves. Especially after level 57 and Single Mind. With that skill, I was able (if I focused on mining or botany) get over 900,000 exp per half game day. That's over 1.8 million exp in one game day, not counting whatever I got from leves. At that point, leves became a waste of allowances!

What I did was to get the Collectables, then run and get the two Mining and Botany leves available for my level, do those four leves, then there would be time enough for me to run a few short errands before it was time to head to the first Collectable spot again. Rather efficient. But yea, definitely want to have flying unlocked in all the new zones.

Really its 8 regular levequests per level. Took me about a day each for botany and mining. The class quests were each worth about as much xp as a levequest, and I took the time to gather each item in my log for the first time. Note they really made use of unspoiled deposits in the expack so keep your truth buffs up to find them, then there's ephemeral nodes which are time of day/weather dependant. There are other threads that have all the info you need.

I don't know why anyone would waste effort on gathering leves when collectibles literally give you 240k-400k EXP a node, twice an hour, for about a minute of effort. Even raw gathering is better since you'd be getting some progress on the absurd amount of mats needed for synths.

I agree stick with collectibles. Best part about them is you don't need to dedicate time to them...quite the contrary, i find that you don't level a huge amount faster if you dedicate yourself to gathering! with only running collectibles, my DoL were always ahead of my DoW classes, easily. And I missed allot of node timers!

And I didn't even bother with the high end nodes. Im just hitting 57 though...I may try harder stuff to get a mild boost of exp. but with 240k per turnin for the lvl 51 collectible, it's far easier then trying to get your gear/GP up high enough to try the higher ones.

But everyone keeps mentioning collectibles, but I thought you had to be a certain level before you can start turning those in? I mean I know I can get them now as I have already gotten some before posting thread as I go at 2 EZ time twice an EX day in Forelands. And now that I'm 51 I believe there's one in Western Highlands. I turned 51 last night after around 30 minutes of Botany. I had no idea leve experience scales with your level, as someone above said it's around 8 leves per level. I thought each level it would take more and more leves than level before, like it did in ARR until you reach the next set every 5 levels.

You can be level 50 and turn them in. There is a quest in Mor Dhona that gets you the skills needed for gathering them. Then its a matter of hitting the Heavensward Unspoiled Nodes at the right time.

As for leves, they don't scale with your level, per se, any more than the old ones did. Its just that instead of having 5 difficulty levels (+0 to +4) and a new set of leves every 5 levels, it is only two difficulty levels (+0 and +1) and new leves every other level. Get a level 54 leve, at level 54, set its difficulty to +1, complete it, get X exp. Hit 55, get that same leve, its difficulty is automatically set at +1, complete it, you will get that same X exp.

Admittedly I pissed through leveling so fast that it didn't matter to me. Gathering doesn't take a lot of time to level in the expack no matter how you do it.

These can be bought with scripts at the place in MD or in the Shire

Or you can just watch a movie as you grind mats that you need in bulk later anyway. The trick is just figuring out what you need before you grab a million of them. I had a retainer drowning in rosewood logs for a half year of 2.0.

For me, it's been the other way around. Sure, with Botanist/Miner you can choose which item to go for, and with Fisher it's RNG which fish you catch, but there are a lot less things to keep in mind in order to actually get them collectibles :p I've tried to get Miner collectibles and failed abysmally. I'm just going to level them up via GC handins and get scrip gear through my Fisher XD
