Treason and Plot+hive area.

I don't know if it is a brd thing or what, but My god that area sucks with how much hp the mobs have. I kill two, move next group by the time I kill two more the other group aggro.


I don't know is it because I am a brd, or is it the area...but I had to just run passed them all. Could not even fight my way through like i do in most things. That is some bad game design.

Game design is fine you just cant go in horribly under geared or trying to yolo your way through the mobs.

Take your time, pop a chocobo, or grab a friend if it seems like you're having a difficult time

No I am pretty sure it is bad game design. Using questing gear, and the mobs are near same level. It is either class design problem or world problem. Even with the bird it was slow enough that respawns caught up to killing speed. People in the zone said the same thing. That area blows, just run through them. Low level mobs should not be so tedious.

Not sure what to tell you, it was even stated in live letter prior to expansion release that open world monsters would provide a bit more of a challenge and that you would have to adjust your pulls accordingly or seek aid from other players near you. I personally know plenty of BRDs, MCHs, and Healers that have had 0 issues making their way through there and completing their quests at the appropriate level.

If the way you're approaching it isn't working for you perhaps an alternative would work better? I for one welcome the new world design and feel it has a much better balance than it did in the 2.x series.

Also, there is very little things I could change to make it "faster". So, ya. I also trust my friends word and people I talked to about it. Tedious does not mean harder. Most of that time I did not care, but this one part of my questing got on my nerves.

Except, they're not low level. They're level 53+.

It's a beastman stronghold. It's going to be busier than most other places, so instead of trying to barrel your way through and ignoring the risks, replace haste with tactics. Pull mobs to the side to fight instead of trying to fight the horde. If I can manage this on a white mage AND find time to raise others less fortunate than myself, then I'm sure as heck a DPS job could kill time in no time.

And if you're killing them slower than a White Mage, then yeah... your gear needs an upgrade.

You're going to onemind hive.... at least put some preparation.

Ok, well this game annoys me. Every one seems to be better on this forum, yet other people in game seem to see the problem. It is not like they are level 60 mobs. They low 50 mobs.

I guess you can disagree with me. I call bad game design how it is. I had no risk of death at all, but instead just respawns after kill first set. This is not tough. no risk of dying, and what plan was needed? All I did was run right through them after I saw fighting my way is pointless. In fact, most of the world mobs are pointless waste of time while questing. They don't have any risk of death, and they tedious to fight.

This beastman area is suppose to be a "high level area" it should not be part of the questing progress.

When I was doing quests in the hive I aggroed monsters only a couple of times. You can run behind their back without them noticing, you know. But I have noticed that some people aggro everything on their way...

I levelled as an AST - DPS compared to other healers is somewhat shaky - or at least it was for me when I was levelling (getting use to it and such) however, I had no issues dpsing these mobs down - even if others did respawn near me.

The game design isn't bad - you are in a beastman stronghold, be aware of your surroundings, pull mobs away or to the side to avoid pulling agro and you won't have much difficulty. Most if not all aggressive mobs in the game agro by sight which is a cone in front of them - avoid the invisible cone and youll be fine.

I had no buffs on or food and I managed, perhaps you just need to work on your rotation or like I said pull mobs to the side and be aware of others mobs in the area.

Why not just run past them? Unless it's a quest, no reason to needlessly kill them. You seriously mean to tell me you've killed everything in your path in this game for no good reason?

You are right though. Bard is, in fact, on the lower end of DPS right now, but I just shrugged and broke out my battle chocobo, who now has over 10K HP and hits like a truck.

So its bad game design that you cant faceroll thru a camp full of enemies?

We had that in 2.0 and i would NEVER want to trade that back.

Correct, I had no risk of dying, and it was just super long and tedious fights. I rather have a risk of dying but kill things quicker than no risk of dying and kill things at a tedious pace. This is not tough, just annoying. So yes it is bad game design.

You are partially correct and also as someone stated Bards are on the low end of the DPS spectrum. Bards by nature in this game are not a true DPS class but more a support class so I can sorta see your point about mobs having slow deaths but again its not true DPS.

Huh? How is it not a true dps class? 0_0? That makes no sense,

It's not that, it's that something went horribly wrong with bard past 50 and SE is looking into tweaks to improve it. WM actually lowers your DPS against single targets, and our bows are weaker than all the other DPS classes for no good reason.
