RNG seems off

Is it just me, or is the gear dropping in the dungeons majority melee dps/DoW minus Tank gear? There is always more gear for classes no one needs in dungeons now than there is gear people can actually use. I kinda wish SE would make it so that usable gear would drop rather than having gear drop that people wont be able to use for months because getting to 60 from 50 on a secondary class is gonna take forever and a half.
I've been running as BLM with the same healer and we're both having this issue with drops. No mage gear. No healer gear dropping after running the same dungeons 100 of times over. Getting frustrating.

Have you been running Neverreap and Fractal Continuum? I'd believe that they both give different weapons, if not different armor. Check each to be certain what drops from where.

Honestly my healer friend and I have been spamming The Aery for that Orthodox Robe of Healing and it has yet to drop in the 20ish runs we've done.

Dropped Orthodox Robe of Healing on the first run I did. That's just how RNG works on some runs you see no gear some you see a bunch.

As a ninja in 5 runs I got 3 pieces I could use, that was all 3 in one run. From my experience it's all caster gear. it's a bit annoying that they split the dex gear

A individuals personal experience with loot drops in a dungeon doesn't reflect the overall possibility or objective total of loot types dropped for any given class.

The good news is you can get better gear from the tomes you get while trying to farm dungeon gear.

Some of us would also like these new dungeon drops for glamour. We don't all want to run around in the same Law gear as everyone else.

And to the OP, I know RNG is RNG and that most people will blow this complaint off as nothing, but yes. I spent a LOT of time farming the new dungeons on AST/SCH/SMN over the last week, and some of the sets I still haven't seen at all. I think it took me about 30 wins of the Library for the healer jacket to drop once, all the while I literally saw the monk jacket 9 times.

What really bugged me as I was leveling in these dungeons and looking for gear, I would see the same thing drop twice on the same run. I don't think that should be possible. Because it's inevitably something nobody cares about.

I ran both the Continuum and Neverreap twice today. My SMN went from i149 to i165 (robe, headgear, skirt, choker, ring, earring...one or two more I think), I got Baldur books for both SMN and SCH, I got healer pants shorts and headpiece.
Also both the duckling and the owl dropped once each (though I rolled very low, 25 and 3 on those, others were above 70 on both).

There are other options besides full law set or full specific dungeon set. I have a retainer brimming with glamour options that I can mix and match. If you only want one specific set and will settle for nothing else, then yeah it's gonna be more grindy to get; even more true for a dungeon set. You knew that going into it. You can't dive into a pool and then complain it's too wet.

Tank Head piece drop two times in one run I was like wtf with all the Dragoon Hate Aery. I sorry we took your eyes Geez.

Just did an Aery run that dropped the scouting pants twice... That's cool and all for the people that both wanted them, but seriously? 2 pairs of scouting pants instead of the healing/striking/maiming/aiming/fending?

I'm actually starting to wonder about this myself. One of my FC mates ran Aery around 40 times yesterday and the only tank armor piece that dropped the entire time was the chest. I initially wrote it off as just really bad luck, but then today I ran Sohm Al somewhere between 20-30 times (I've lost track at this point) to try and get the tank set from there. Still haven't seen the tank chest or hands, only one legs and boots, and two helmets. And on the other end of the scale there've been 10 AST weapons, 2 sets of DRG gear, 2 sets of BRD/MCH gear, and 1 set of BLM/SMN gear.

I dunno, maybe it is just bad luck but I think it's possible the RNG might be weighing some sets more heavily than others right now.

Possible in the most technical sense of the word. But realistically it's just bad luck. People have been claiming rng is off for just about every set since forever in many different games. Brains are just naturally terrible at probability, statistics, or understanding the difference between the two.

Now let me tell you that I have trouble gearing my NIN with anything else but law because of bad luck, but i can lean back once I level one of my tanks to 60 because I have basically every single full dungeon set including the weapon for all the way from 50 to 60 sitting on my retainer! ^^

Yeah, that's true RNG... :D

The important thing to keep in mind with RNG - it's RNG.

If there's equal weighting on all possible gear pieces, one thing to note is that there's like five DPS relevant sets (MNK, DRG, NIN, MCH/BRD, SMN/BLM)... and one healer set and one tank set. So, theoretically, 5/7 pieces will be DPS.

Which is still 1/7 chance that your given relevant gearset actually drops for everyone, but it'll look like a billion DPS pieces.

I think what annoys me the most is when the game drops stuff that nobody in the party can use. I just had a run of The Vault, with two casters, where every drop was for MNK or for NIN. You can argue "oh, but what about alt classes?", but at this point in Heavensward, most people will be running the dungeons at the class they're currently attempting to level up. It's different than 2.0 where everything we got was immediately usable by any level 50 class -- having items dropping that nobody can use is wasteful.

It'd make more sense for the loot to be tweaked in favor of the party composition upon entering the dungeon.

guess whats even more funny. by the time a single piece of tankloot dropped for me on over 10 aery runs i was already 57 and could run the vault instead means the gear became outdated before it even dropped. thats just fruther proofs that rng plain sucks...
