Was the last event more than an ugly earring and slaughtering tons of mice?
Well I knew not to expect any items, (to add something new they would have to patch, Unless they planned on using one of the handful of unused items sitting around in .dats) But Seriously, Just some seals and fireworks? Not even a quest or some juicy lore? Events are really starting to get more and more dull. I mean my expectations are already next to non-existent. When it comes to events/patches. But this almost gives me the impression that they don't even care anymore.
Goldfishing and Kimonos! (Oops wrong game)
i wonder how many people logged on to try out the new event thinking it would be some epic anniversary thing only to find out its just 4 npcs that barely mention any new lore + 1000 guild credit things .....
/disappoint
someone find something more to this even to prove me wrong -please-
I like how I posted a thread about the airships and your thread went from "waah only fireworks" to:
ZOMG AIRSHIPS AND FLAGS!
You really should take some time to look around before you pop off negative threads.
It will certainly be neat for anyone trying the game again when this patch hits.
Whats wrong with fireworks! They're lovely! We celebrate with them irl all the time =D
did they change how limsa looks? o_O
limsa looks a lot prettier with the flags and stuff. The place feels a lot more alive for some reason.
Moving flags and platns everywhere? ..screens pls :0
It's so EPIC!!! and MASSIVE!!! he/she even had to make 2 posts about the same topic... >.>/
Any quest for Ul'dah?
Those flags and fireworks took 6 months to make, you should be more grateful.
What's wrong with it just being fireworks?
just fireworks is melodramatic for a 1 yr anniversary event
Next year I hope they don't do an event just so people will shut up about it.
Seems you would rather get nothing at all.
personally i dont care
but other ppl were going on for weeks about how the anniversary event would be epic and stuff
and it turned out to be fireworks
consistently getting your community to speculate wildly about something being epic and then it turning into a huge disappointment in no way helps the games image.
They are trying to produce the largest patch in a year and people expect a huge ass event a week before?
Honestly...
By stating there are recruitment officers i atleast expected to have to choose which Grand Company at this point and a quest to go along with it. Oh well....
Yes, I would rather get nothing at all. There is no "A" for effort here. They are creating a precedent for events that aren't events. If we let them, we'll get more crap shoveled at us every month.
Make it awesome, or don't make it.
It's been said before (in defense of these lackluster events.) that events are planned and implemented by a team separate from the other dev teams. They really don't get any lee-way for the big patch crunch.
The only mitigating factor I really see is that they planned this event to coincide with a feature that hasn't been added in to the game yet. Namely, Grand Companies.
I'm hoping the event steps up a notch when the patch comes.
But the nay-sayers were chastised by the fanboys when we complained about the lack of event surrounding the Hunter's Moon, citing precedent in past events that change as the event progresses... And nothing expanded, nothing changed... it was nothing but pest control and an ugly earring.
If the choice is between nothing and crap... I choose nothing.
I think an event like this where they set up decoration in town and give us some fireworks is fine. At least it's natural.
I don't see what more needs to happen besides maybe they could bring in a party ship to dock at Limsa or throw a ticker tape parade through Uldah or something. But I mean really, it's good enough as it is, in my opinion.
EDIT:
They could definitely do more, sure. I guess my point is that I am satisfied enough as it is though.
The seal vendors say something about a new item that can be bought near the end of the event, so keep your eyes peeled.
I have every right to complain. You have every right to ignore me.
But if you settle for mediocrity don't be surprised if it's all you get.
P.S.
Most of my actual complaint is leveled toward the Hunter's Moon event. There is still a lot of potential for this event to expand after the patch actually launches.
This Event Is More Than Fireworks......
Its Seals!
I have seen the fireworks but how do you get the seals?
lol first off this is a game not real life.
second, if you think the exact same fireworks set off every year is epic then you have low standards even for real life.
fireworks are the icing on the cake that a lot of people like but dont really care to eat, they want everything else that goes with that cake.
i personally dont do events, the items have been un-attractive since my days in FFXI and the lore is almost always irrelevant. if they had to take event team people to help out in other departments.... then i say grab the coffee boy while your at it!!!
