Please make equipment a culinarian can create/repair!

Hear me out... I want to give CUL some love in this category, and I think it could be done with some planning. Even if elements of it can be silly, it could also help this class from feeling alienated.

For instance, you could have something like a baraccuda (fish nm) drop its carcass. A cul could use their skills to strip the meat off the bones, leaving a uniquely-shaped weapon (Baraccuda Bonesaw). With the addition of some other materials , this could become enhanced into a rather viscious looking Briny Bonesaw Blade.

I could go on, but it seems like a logical step in comparison to other games, to allow CUL to be involved in the creation of gear that is largely based on biological components. I recall the DQ series had the tortoise breastplate... another fun example of this sort of potential.

This thread is not just to discuss the possibility, I would like to hear other people's ideas of CUL weapons, armor, you name it! Be fun about it!

edit: if people haven't figured out by now that this was meant for entertainment not seriousness, this is me saying so. ;)

If you want to make armor/weapons, rank up those classes. Culinarian is about food preparation.

However, for the sake of the topic, I don't think making components that are used to make said armors/weapons is out of the question. But I sincerely don't think that swinging around a fish skeleton fits into the game world.

I'm not crazy about the idea of culinarian repairing gear. It just seems odd.

Well, just for the sake of contributing, I only have three words:

Bacon scale mail. :D

but yah seriously i wouldnt mind feeling like a sweet princess wearing gear made of candy but, the idea could jump to "Expendable gear" like refill poison aditional effect in weapons by extractin jellyfish poison and such. however even this sort of thing would fit more to alchemist than culinarian.

what you should be asking for is better recipes that people wanna buy. then afk at darkhold with you bazaar full and you'll sell out in no time.

WHY would a cook fix gear? armor and blacksmith ... its kinda their thing and for bone gear like you speak well thats been goldsmith territory since XI :p

This is not neccesary. Culinarians make food, bait and i bet they will make Chocobo food also.

I do like the responces on this thread they made me chuckle it is nice to see people do still have a sense of humor. i do kinda agree with the OP though it's the only craft that can't make repairs so CUL's are at a disadvantage to other crafters in this area.

The question is though how could you seriously add gear that a cook could repair, the only tihng that came to mind and i assure you this isn't ment to be a joke is if there was event gear maybe not as far out there as these example but along the lines of a turkey suit for thanks giving, a egg suit for easter or a xmas pudding suit for xmas. out side of gear like this i don't see any real options for a CUL repair.

What should be done is to take all those fish recipes and stagger HQ results so that each fish with yield gemstones, pearls etc. Some recipes already have this. Toss in a dozen recipes scattered throughout the ranks that allow only Culinarians to extract these items from fish and then you increase the usefulness. Of course fixing it so food is easier, less tedious, has all the information in the tooltips would help alot too.

I am not sure I love the idea of a CUL being able to repair gear - however it is a little off balance that it is the only DoH craft that doesn't get to contribute towards repairs.

If anything, items like skillets, aprons, chef's hats could possibly have gone that route.

Why?

The only thing they need to do is make sure that Food is something people will want on a daily basis, like potions, repairs and materias. Food is a consumable, so if it's well tweaked, there will always have a need for food. I've been a cook in every MMO I've played, and that goes back from EverQuest. Cooking is your slow-steady source of income, that wont fluctuate as much as gear (in FFXI Hagun droped from 1M to 10k while Mithkabobs kept their ~4k/stack since 2003).

We don't need to repair stuff with cooking, we need everyone to want food. This is in their plans for 1.20 so until then, patience, and just sell those knight's Bread/shephers'd pie/crowned cakes.
