The new window for Currency is inconvenient

Dear Dev,

I am a PS4 user, I can't understand why the [Currency] tab in Player Info window has became a separate window. This change improves nothing but requires me to waste one hotbar slot. I keep thinking why, I believe there would be a reason, however, I really don't find any reason, maybe the debuggers didn't need to check [Currency] frenquently.

This change is not consistent with other system features.
For example, like party list/friend list/pc search/black list all put in one windows, it is very convenient for users playing with a gamepad, I only need to assign party list to hotbar, then I can access friend list by L1/R1 switch tabs.

In the same manner, now I cannot access [Currency] in the player info window,
and this individule currency window doesn't seem to be necessary,
it just contains very little info that absolutely can fit on one tab under player info as before.

Could you kindly please consider put [Currency] back to player info, ofcoz, the individule window could be remain. [Currency] is one of the most frequent info need ot be monitored like gears condition, remove it from player info window really inconvenient to players.

This umm... this is fake right? Like... this isn't a REAL complaint... right? I mean, why would it be?

I wholeheartedly agree.

I liked hitting C and checking gear condition and stat point allocation then switching tabs to see if I have money/seals to deal with them.

It does feel like a waste, but again I think it might begin to become cluttered inside the Character Currency Information Box to the side in the UI whenever they decide to add anything there.

At the very least since the current currency screen is not that cluttered can we get it all at once instead of 3 tabs? Then it'd be a bit less terrible.

It was fine the way it was before. Should have left it in Char Profile.

Although i completely agree, it's most likely a set up so they won't have to play with it later.

It's amazing how many people think that they just did this for the hell of it.

Hint: they didn't. The people at SE are not *that* bored.

It's because of the fact there are getting to be too many things listed there in a single window/tab. And even if you don't think it's like that right now, more stuff is still to come, and this was likely done in preparation of it.

Seems like Fynlar get it right pretty much.

I don't mind that it was moved to its own window as it is easy enough to open with ctrl-c on PC, but it would have been better to have one window visually split into sections instead of multiple tabs. For me, the multiple tabs are what takes it from a clean interface to an irritating nuisance.

im just so used to hitting C and then the tab
much more easily accessible now with a left click on the gil icon tho

its just muscle reflex and that C button

Apparently you have not tried to play with gamepad only. ^^;

My concern is, pre3.0 many gamepad players worried about cross-hotbar slots usage,
and there was feedback that dev would consider cross-hotbar slots usage for those players,
however, 3.0 released, zero design for saving slots (ie. stack similar spells/abilities) but required more slots for same function. IMO this is moving toward the wrong direction.

FYI:
There are total 8 crossbars.
switching battle jobs = 1 crossbar
switching crafting/gathering jobs = 1 crossbar.
job actions including pvp actions = 3 crossbars
actions/commands related to transport/chocobo/target marking = 1 crossbar
actions/commands related to content/item/emotion = 1crossbar

Basically there is only 1crossbar for commands in main menu!
including housing/FC/frd list/LS/gold saucer/logs/inventory/character/daily mission...etc
therefore wasting one slot is critical to gamepad player.

But why would you waste a crossbar slot on it when it's right there in the main menu? Just use Options (PS4 controller) or Start (PS3 controller).

The majority of what you describe cluttering up your crossbars has no real reason to even be there. Sure, I can see duplicating one or two menu items onto your crossbar slots as conveniences. (I use one for mounts and one for teleport myself.) But that's a couple slots, not whole crossbars. When you start talking about having a lack of space there because you're trying to recreate the whole menu, it's no longer adding convenience. Just use the menu we already have rather than recreating it on your hotbars.

Lets see, there's:

or just open your character sheet and have them all available there. It's even the first default on the main menu, so quick and easy to reach without any crossbar space needed.

same as above. Or you could do as I did and cycle between them with just one slot of a crossbar. (CRP has a slot for switching to BSM, which uses that slot to switch to ARM, which switches to GSM, etc.)
Oh, and I only wasted that one slot for it because they have fewer skills than combat jobs, so I had some extra space on my R2+L2 bar.

Ok, this one's valid.

I can see that taking up about four slots, but what about the other dozen?

Well, I can see how this would have a fair amount of variability between players. I have a couple macro'ed emotes and one of my favorite minions on my non-combat crossbar. A whole crossbar worth seems like a lot, but maybe works for some people.

If the commands are in the main menu, it's as easy to get to them from the main menu as to get to them from a crossbar. This is just a waste of crossbar space.

p.s. I don't mean this to come out sounding like I think everyone should play the same way I do and with the same setup. (Which, on re-reading it, I see how it could sound that way.) I know different people like to setup their interface differently. But if the way you've been doing it is causing you problems, then it's worth looking at alternatives. It sounds like crossbar space is causing you problems, and also like you're not making much use of the main menu. Giving some more consideration to what needs to be on the crossbars and what doesn't could ease your space problems significantly.

Niwashi san, please try only using your gamepad, your suggestion only tell me you relay on keyboard or you just play a part of this game but not every part of this game frequently. ^^;

I want to explain a little more to show no offence.
My main concern is Currencies removed from Character window, I am fine with adding shortcut button but not removing the tab as it is not necessary and consistent.
I run many contents everyday, and this is good practice to check your gears and currencies when you queue for a content.
The inconvenient is now we need to check 2 places, even I am fine with this changes, then my crosshotbar is not fine as I need removing one frequently used action from the xHotbar.
As a result i doubt why DEV said they will consider improve/resolve xHotbar usage for console players. Therefore I spent my time, and feedback to the DEV.

I find it funny how we can toggle the HUD gil display to show either Gil, GC Seals or MGP, but no other currency, and no multiple currencies at the same time.

As someone who does the daily hunt marks, I want to show my Centurion Seals; at the same time I'm saving up towards a small plot so maybe in 5 years Square Enix will find that I have been loyal enough customer to grant me my humble wish and actually make small plots available, so I want my Gil visible as a motivator.

But no. We cannot have nice things. Modern hardware cannot display two currencies at the same time!

I am not focus on how ppl manage their xhotbar.
But it appears you don't use "autorun" a lot, you may try to access everything during autorun and compare the difference. ^^;

@Zari : I am playing like this too :)
I am using a gamepad and I don't see any problems with it, I am accessing all menus with the Start button; no need to use any hotbar like this :P
(And don't have any problems while using autorun)

my hotbars contain only skills and a mount (sometimes food...)

But ideally I think you should be able to access LB without interrupt your movement.

By the way, if a players doesn't care some info that needs to check by opening a window,
then that's completely unnecessary to put the shortcut to this window on his xhotbar.
So if someone don't need to check gears and tomes simultaneously, ofcoz he will not use crosshotbar slot for fast checking.

For 1 I use auto run all the time and pressing the start button in no way interrupts it.
And 2 i already said I put a couple things like mounts on my hotbar. This includes limit break, why wouldn't it be on there? Please dont assume things

Im just saying there is absolutely NO need to map your whole menu onto your cross hotbar. Your problem is one you yourself caused through doing something completely unneccesary

I was feedback to DEV Currencies became inconvenient bcoz it was removed from Characters window.

In additions, I just reminded to DEV about what they said pre3.0 and I am still looking forward to it,
they said they will think how to improve/resolve xHotbar slot usage as it is predictable more action/ability will be put on the xhotbar.

Got a keyboard plugged in? Learn to program shortcut commands.
CTRL + C = Character
CTRL + V = Currency
While you're at it you might want to learn all the other shortcut commands for keyboard on PS4.

Thanks for the advice.
My OP just want to feedback, previously, I can read tome + gears status by single click open Chracter window (with saved tab)
But now it is inconvenient bcoz tome was removed to another window.

One solution I have read is some players have suggested adding tome to the new swtichable display bar for gil/MGP/GC seal,
I just want to let DEV know, the changes (remove currencies from character) decreased accessbility and visibility to an useful information.

Personally, I've always used my Character Info to check my currency. Not I need one extra keybind to do the same things I used to do all the time. Any veteran keyboarder will know how irritating it is when something you used to be able to do in a split second using a keybind you're already familiar, now requires a different and extra keybind.

Besides, we asked for displaying currencies on the HUD. Instead, we got an extra window. Seriously I sometimes think the UI design team does this on purpose.
