AST/MCH/NIN - a few animation/model requests

• Colored Card Backs to color-match the globe model

...can be simple recolors, no need to change their backing design. Though, if you really wanted to go all out on certain ones, you wouldn't see me complain ;). Should be an easy task for any professional artist to sweep through all the game's models, or if you wished... you could just do it for Heavensward gear or 60 gear~.


Machinist

• Autoturret Glamours

...Summoners will be receiving Egi glamours, I think Autoturret Glamours could be a huge win. Could be as simple as palette swaps to completely new skins to new animations/particles. SE could go all out on this!

• Secondary Weapon Holding Stance

...can't lie, I was really bummed to see Machinist just holding their weapon out forward in one hand. Could have a different option where they hold it/run with it held like a shotgun (as simple as a slightly modified WAR axe hold). Ninja's have different jump animations, so I could see this being a thing (though, it'd have to be tied to /cpose or something of the sort).

• Kneeling Gauss Barrel Animation

...same bummer with Gauss Barrel... thought it'd be some sort of "hunker down" or snipe stance but we just stand there. The attachment is neato but this simple change would really boost the animation IMHO.

• Gauss Round Animation Buff

...could use some extra flash to it... maybe make it like a plasma bolt or something? Similar to Big Shot or Desperado fire.

• LB3 Satellite Beam Animation Buff

...the shot feels very pewny... could be beef up a bit (wide beam of light, less time spent on tilting the droid/more time on hyperbeam effect).

• Colored Munition's Pouch to match weapon

...similar to card-backs to match the globe... having your satchel match your weapon would be a huge model boost.

• Heartbreak Animation Buff

...for an execute, this has no visual flair at all... it's sad really.

• Wildfire Animation Buff

...would be incredibly awesome for it to have some kind of kindling effect & an ensuing combustion of some sort... would help with MCH's underwhelming visuals overall.


Ninja

• Stealth Weapon's Out Animation

...currently, stealth defaults to having sheathed weapons so it just appears like you're walking slowly, postured. Not a lot of people know you can unsheathe your weapons into a creeping sort of stance. This change is as simple as defaulting it to unsheathed, would be a huge boost for this effect.


Suggest other animation swaps/tweaks you'd love to see!!

MNK - Growing Aura Effect on Chakra Gains (perhaps at 1/3/5)... SUPER SAIYAN PLEASE!

Also, another thread suggested Dreamwyrm Trance have a persistent effect (LB3's wings (could be smaller if needed)?

Seconding aetherial wing effect in Dreadwyrm Trance

Also posting in support of a persistent effect for Dreadwyrm Trance. A glow, wings, claws, special animation... anything really. Just something to make it actually look like we're channeling Bahamut, because right now his head flashes briefly on the screen and then it's just an invisible buff like any other...

As to this I have to say Shadow Flare is something whilst it is not new. The effects for Ruin 3, Tri Disaster, Deathflare and the activation for Dreadwyrm Trance are all amazing.

Please don't act like SMN's have "nothing"...

Now MCH definitely needs some work on the animations, compared to every other job it is extremely bland imo. Just the tracer idea for the turret would improve the job effects x10000.

definitely a yes for some sort of animation for dreadwyrm trance. I mean, you're channeling Bahamut afterall, you better damn well have the animation to back it up.

Since I'm derailing too much, I agree using stealth is much cooler with your weapon drawn.
Also, as I mentioned in the Ninja thread. I wish Dream within a Dream's animation didn't get clipped.

Good News kinda for the machinist weapon IF its dyeable the toolbox also matches the colour... so there's that. Also PLEASE give a better animation for the gauss barrel casting animation ;n; Its so stupid! 'Hurr dur i is master markshman i point gun in air to aim.'

How about making mch's skills more flashy? mch has the most boring skill animations in the game.

Agree 100% with that Gauss Barrel/Gauss Round/Satellite Beam need those animation improvements.

Satellite Beam is so underwhelming... the laser is incredibly pewny & short-lived.

The lack of cool effects (and poor gameplay design in a few key areas) makes me feel that MCH was rushed... which' really depressingly sad considering we waited like 4 years.

Please, SE. A few more boosts to MCH's play & visuals. Please!

I really wish Gauss Barrel and Wanderer's Minuet changed the character's stance. It makes the character have a cast time, so make them look like they're focusing more [make the Machinist aim down his sights or something and the Bard just aim directly at the enemy as they cast].

Also for Bard and Machinist, make them move a bit more whenever they do....well anything. Since only their upper bodies move, it looks unrealistic and bad when you realize their legs are perfectly still yet their upper bodies and arms are flailing around.

I think you misunderstood the post you quoted. He meant that Dreadwyrm Trance has no animation to even indicate it is active. It just has a casting animation and then 15s of an invisible buff. Given that all other jobs with such buffs have a persistent animation to indicate that the buff is active we would like for SMN to have the same as currently Dreadwyrm Trance is incredibly unimpressive and it would actually be useful for other jobs to be able to recognise when we have it active. Since the trance is a cue for us being about to use Deathflare it would be useful for other jobs with party buffs to be able to see the trance and use their buffs in preparation for it.

It would also be useful in PvP for players to recognise when a SMN is about to unleash the biggest burst combo in the game.

Yes, MCH needs a lot more attention but let's not start dismissing everyone just because you feel you're more important.

I'm on board with adding a little more flair to the card designs. Particularly on primal weapons!

I'm going to add my voice for an effect being added to Dreadwyrm Trance, it's so utterly underwhelming.

I'd just be so happy if we could get a better animation for Gauss Barrel/Round/LB3 for MCH...

I'd like to point out that while the black flame effect is awesome, the Red Aura from Darkside is actually clearly visible in the video.
If thats the 'Relic' weapon and armor set, it may be that the black flame is a part of the gear (A set bonus, if you will) rather than any form of "original" Darkside effect.

Without a solid stance, a MCH would fall flat on his arse with every shot. Hell, Slug Shots visual recoil makes me feel like i should have two hands on the damn thing at all times.

I don't think it's a solid stance, more of a lack of animation on the normal MCH combat stance.

For another class, what about SMN's Dreadwyrm Trance? Why not give us Bahamut's wings like Teraflare does or have a spectral version of him behind us like Nero's Devil Trigger in DMC4?

Machinists however...................... Really? It doesn't feel like a new job honestly. It just looks boring as hell :/.
I love the animations when you use reload and abilities like that, the cds look great and I love the look of your character quickly modifying his/her weapon.
But the actual shooting animations are way too boring honestly.

I felt that way when I saw the preview video, but once I played it with the sound effects, my opinion changed. And Clean Shot is just stylish, IMO.

Please, any of these for 3.1? MCH needs love badly.

I'm personally ok with most machinist shot animations. You're pulling a trigger and a gun is shooting something, there's only so much you can do to spice it up.

Going over the top with every skill like it's Dragonball or something would just be weird. You can see this in how odd it looks in the case of Head Graze, which is a utility ability but for some reason has a gigantic flashy animation that looks more like a gauss round than Gauss Round.

I know MCH isn't meant to be super flashy but it still needs a little extra.

It's too bland in visuals atm.

The audio's worse than the visuals IMO. Several abilities sound more like a pop gun than a firearm infused with lightning magic.

yea the animation for weapon cast time with the gauss barrel is really weird and also their running animation with the weapon drawn. i'd definitely like these to be changed.

My biggest issue with MCH animation is really when their "charging" an attack in GB. It really looks like how certain races in 1.0 and some beast tribes (namely Amaljaa THMs) will charge spells.

With BRD they at least look like they're actually charging for bigger hits, MCH holds their weapon like a mage while in GB

Gauss Barrel's cast-time animation is quite cast... I want the MCH to at least kneel & aim down the sights over a forearm or something...
