Best party composition 3.0?

In terms of raid wide DPS and overall support utilities and skills what is currently the best party combo?

I know it is early to decide, and Square Enix designs the battles so any composition can clear content but just an over all opinion from players would be nice?

Previously (nearly) every progression orientated static consisted of:
PLD
WHM
SCH
WAR
BRD
MNK
BLM
MNK/NIN

Obviously there is more selection now and other classes have had buffs/new rotations etc.

What is everyones opinion? I'm thinking:
WAR
DRK
SCH
AST
BRD
SMN
MNK
DRG/NIN

I put NIN as a replacement for either roll mostly as a progression thing Dragon kick is strong if Heavy Magic damage is a thing in Alexander
if melee is heavily hindered by melee you can swap a melee slot for a caster

If nothing new is found about the new Jobs they just don't have the oomph and consistency to replace the other roles in situations like trying to clear t13 in lesser gear like FC's did

My opinion,

-Tanks:
Any, but different jobs, leaning towards standard PLD(passive migitation) and WAR(very good DPS and utility)
-Healers:
Any, but different jobs, leaning towards standard WHM and SCH
-Melee DPS:
If no DRK - MNK*** then either DRG** or NIN (leaning towards this combination)
If DRK - NIN*** and DRG** or MNK
-Range DPS:
BRD or MCN (leaning towards BRD)
SMN or BLM (leaning towards SMN)

No its just the sad truth of things my FC isn't cutting edge so i don't care what my members play but that's how people are going to look at it

Compare PLD to DRK Paladin is a Better MT
Compare Warrior to DRK warrior is a higher dps OT
Asto sure they have cards but thats not a consistent thing WHM and SCH are just overall better
compare BRD and MCN Brd wins machinist has issues that need fixed.
yes things could change but what we know right now that where it sits

Won't matter to Non Speed clearing FC's

Wouldn't a hipster lean more towards new classes, because they're all different and cool and progressive rather than boring traditionalists? :p

Personally, I can't say what the best party composition would look like. Would probably want a White Mage in the healer duo though, due to otherwise missing out on the Mind buff.

I agree with you, at the moment DRK and AST arent really good choices for 8 man content.
They both seem to approach their roll with a Jack of all master of none apporach.

DRK tries to sit between PLDs High mitigation style and WARs more like a very sturdy DPS style which is good when it is the only tank but in an MT and OT situation it is worse than the other two jobs at their better roll.
AST likes to try to replace either one of the other two healers with its stances but it cant do either of their rolls as well as the original job can. It doesnt have the sheer brute force healing WHM is capable of nor the versatility of SCH. So AST is useful again in a 4 man situation where it can show off its ability to do both jobs (i.e my friend will heal shield b4 a pull then go WHM stance for HOTs during the fight) and in 8 man content through the DF where it can fill in for the roll of the missing job but in preformed parties and static raids it cant stand up to the other two.

If I apply my dots, if I'm using mp properly and the right skills/stance depending on whether I'm fighting one or multiple opponents, I feel that if anything it's a very versatile class.

And you have him set at 30, so I can't take your opinion seriously considering you haven't experimented with DRK buffs, debuffs etc.
I could go and give my experience and compare PLD to DRK, but it's all subjective opinions.

On a completely unrelated note, I've been getting double the amount of commendations I used to get as a PLD, so if anything I'll take that as positive feedback that I'm performing a better job.

I have no opinion except where healers are involved. I strongly feel that having at least 1 AST will be vital due to the buffs.

AST has a slightly lower heal potency compared to WHM and SCH, but they make up for it with their support/buff utility. Whether the 2nd healer is WHM or SCH will depend on what a particular group prefers for the AST's Sects. If they want Diurnal Sect, the 2nd healer should be a SCH. If they want Nocturnal Sect, the 2nd healer should be a WHM. I say that since they compliment each other. Or you may not care what the second healer is and prefer a specific AST Sect regardless. I'm not saying this because I am biased since I'm a level 56 AST, but as someone familiar with all 3 healing jobs.
