Ok, my mind is blown, why are Elidibus and the Warrior of Darkness on Hydaelyn\\'s Moon????
We also get a look on Meracydia
Well, we know Hydaelyn represents light and the Ascians represent darkness, it seemed the darkness of space was the perfect place to introduce the Warrior of Darkness who looks a lot like the Generic PC?
Maybe Derplander has been on the darkside all along.
Don't think that was Elidibus. Pretty sure it's a new Ascian.
Also no one noticed that the boy that gives the ex quest is named Unukalhai which is the name of the heart of the serpent constellation ( alpha serpentis ), that boy is freaking fishy !
You guys don't get it? The Dark Side of the Moon~
While the why Elidibus and the Warrior of Darkness are on Menphina (the moon) eludes me, I believe the midlander is a placeholder for what may end up being a reflection of the pc. I'd love to fight a reflection of our character.
Oh no, every thing about the EX quest giver screams that he's Elidibus.
That's still not Elidibus. If it were Elidibus, the chat box would have said Elidibus instead of leaving him unnamed. As for the WoD, not sure if they'll wind up giving us reflections of our own characters, which I'm not sure how intensive that would be, or just sticking to Darklander to signify that it's a reflection.
Don't know if it was my imagination or not, but Urianger's and Elidibus's voice was strikingly similar (JP Voice Actor).
Hey all,
Just jumping in to say that this particular individual is indeed the entity whom you all believe him to be, and not another heretofore unseen character with strikingly similar features and fashion sense. The erroneous nameplate is a bug. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused!
You may now resume speculating about everything else.
EDIT: Deliberately obfuscating text for the sake of wandering eyes...
Didn't he say you and yours ? So it might be a 8vs8 mirror fight.
That's because KENN (Urianger) and Akiria Ishida (Eldibus) normally have very similar voice types. Both are actually fairly well known for voicing young male characters, so my ears had to do a double-take when his voice came out of Eldibus. Totally changes my mental image of the face beneath the hood.
As an aside, huge props to KENN for mangling his vocal chords for Urianger's signature rasp.
Trouble on the moon? Prepare the Lunar Whale! Actually, given all the other FFIV hints the game has been throwing at us I wouldn't be surprised if we do end up on the moon soon.
Don't know if this is worth mentioning but even though the title says (SPOILER), now that a Dev has replied to it, his reply and some of the spoilery content show right up in the Dev Tracker.. meow.
Is it possible that the Warrior of Darkness was created by the same event that endowed the Warrior of Light with their power during the Calamity? Like how Y'shtola was changed by moving through the aether.
I think the only thing Y'shtola's little trip through the lifestream did was render her physically blind. She "sees" now by sensing the aether around her, which is apparently a poor decision according to Matoya. While she does mention that she has a keener sense of the aether around her, it's probably just the phenomenon of other sense becoming stronger to compensate for a lost one.
The Archbishop used the term Heavenwards when calling down Azys Lla, which seems to be a space station before.
They used it similarly at least one more time. I'm getting the impression Heavenward as a theme might not just mean north (Ishgard region), but even further.
Beyond Hydaelyn.
Might be part of the climax that go to space!
She pretty much says exactly that. That she's losing her life force seeing through the aether.
I'd just assume they'd go with WAR PLD WHM BLM BRD DRG MNK and SMN/SCH/NIN. The original 1.x jobs +one of the 2.x jobs. What jobs do we see at the 1.x Closing Cinematic? WAR BLM WHM BRD PLD, so my guess is you'll see at least those 5 + 3 of the others(DRG/MNK/SCH/SMN/NIN/DRK/MCH/AST), but most likely it'll be rounded out by DRG MNK SMN/SCH/NIN. Just my guesses, again.
Agreed on this. It'll be a set team for the players to fight rather than being based on what your party formation is because you'd have people trying to find the "easiest" way of beating Team Dark by having some "optimal" party formations and we know the drama that will ensure if that reaches the duty finder.
We are going to the moon, and this is how.

With the Stargate. Where is SG1!
While derplander might get a model upgrade I don't think the warrior of darkness will be our clone. It would be waaay too complicated to create. Especially since we might not fight him/her one on one.
As for the moon? I smell new zones. Or at least raids. I remember Yoshie saying that he wants the game to go to the moon, but I didn't think he would do it so soon.
It won't be our clone because they already did a "clone" story line in a job quest.
I would LOVE for SE to acknowledge the derplander's existence, and have him fight us. To show that people with the Echo can be coaxed away from Hydaelyn, if they're foolish enough. We've only ever seen the derplander in cutscenes, so there's a chance to flesh him out...
The point I am making is that square has essentially done a story line where you face the dark side or opposite of yourself. What I got was the shadow WAS you but the dark side of you, I honestly think the WOD is going to be a whole new character but instead fights for the opposite side or the world of darkness so to speak.
I'm really hoping it's derplander. I never liked the whole "cutscene adventurers are warrior-of-light replacements" thing.
It's pretty hard to do mass viewer cutscenes tailored to every single individual character.
All of the scenes involving derplander are trailers designed to be seen outside game. That's why your character isn't in them. They have to use *something*.
Sorta like how Pathfinder has iconics. Each class has a specific race/gender/archetype model character for it. They're fully itemized and everything, they're playable.
Considering that here, the Warrior of Light's backstory is unknown(on purpose) and their current story is completely identical canonically across all persons playing any given class, there's no reason they *can't* just make a base character for each class and use it in the cutscenes.
They're not able to make it so that you see your character when you're watching a cut scene not hosted on their servers while you're not logged in with live access to your character data. And what about folks that don't play?
These are trailers aimed at the general public. You seeing your own character in them, when they're not made using the in game engine for the most part, is impractical. These are full CGI. In game cutscenes for the most part use in game assets.
You're asking for an *awful* lot of work.
And in Pathfinder, those iconics were actual characters, with their own stories. That's all I'm wanting here.
