Praise for Heavensward

Im usually not one for fanboy rants, but I just need to say this: Heavensward is an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. Its rare for a game to live up to its hype, but this game has exceeded my expectations in nearly every single way possible. Quite frankly, it puts ARR to shame.

One area that is a vast improvement over ARR is the delivery of the main story. The tone and mood is more mature, and the story feels more focused on things that actually matter. The characters have more depth, and their interactions are more complex. The dialogue is a little more nuanced, and both the writing and voice acting are superb.

The environments are nothing short of jaw-dropping. Around every corner you are met with a breathtaking vista, each more incredible than the last. The sheer scope of everything around you, and the unbelievable level of detail is truly a work of art.

The ambiance, sound, and music are also amazing.

I would like to congratulate the developers on creating such an incredible world. The amount of passion and hard work shines through at every moment, and if this level of quality continues, FF XIV will be a game for the ages.

I'm enjoying myself so far. Between hotfixes and server cpngestions, regardless. Still lots for me to do.

I'm having a lot of fun with it, leveled Astrologian to 51 through early access and spent some time with the story, it's shaping up nicely and is engaging right from the get-go. Can't wait to see how it (the expansion) will continue to progress.

agree with that so much :3 love everything from maps, world mobs, story and dungeons ... heavensward gets a 100/10 for me :P

I've no fun because 99.9% of the time im locked in a queue of 1.000 players for hours.

They havnt just stepped it up a gear, they cranked it upto top gear and kicked in the afterburners XD

I like that Ishgard reminds me a lot of Castlevania, especially the LoS series.

I've been taking it slow and steady, a level a day, and let me say that it has been a pleasure to take things in and savor them slowly. The sheer joy of flying around on a chocobo (and now a griffin) is something else entirely. I stopped for a good five minutes just to watch the sunrise over Western Coerthas. Earlier I was treated to the aurora borealis.

I've honestly enjoyed myself. the new story is involving (some would have brought me to tears, i sadly forgot how to cry.), and dark knight is a fun job (much more intensive than paladin).

can't wait to see what the future holds as well.

I vastly enjoy the aesthetics of the new zones and how the DX11 effects really makes shadows and lighting pop out.

It is by far the best expansion in MMO history, as I have expressed here on the forums previously. I've played every major MMO since the late 90s and have seen many expansions, but this is in an entirely different league.

Totally agree, I really enjoy everything I have seen so far even thiugh it's not much but I really love the DRK and AST!

This patch was nothing short of amazing. Getting around on foot seems frustrating at first because the zones are huge (and the maps aren't the greatest at showing elevation), but once you can fly you can really appreciate just how much effort went into the design. Each one I saw was better than the last. I've had an incredible amount of fun just flying around looking for all the sightseeing log entries (incidentally, thank you so much for not putting ridiculous time/weather restrictions on these, as they're wonderfully scenic at almost any time). I've had so much fun running the dungeons and other content with my friends and my raid static. I couldn't help but smile at the final trial of the story. The storyline itself was pretty amazing too - I laughed, I cried (I totally did at a couple of points), I stayed up till insane hours wanting to find out what happens next.

The only thing I didn't like was the insane amount of 'find the moogle' quests. Damn moogles. =.=

I'm constantly a little bit awed by each new zone every time i walk in and start looking around.

Then i think, Holy Jeebus, if this is what they can make that works on a PS3, just how mindblowing will the next expansion be without the PS3 limitations?

I can't believe the sheer number of quests they've added. Every time I level up and complete another MSQ it's like a whole raft of new quests open up in another area! The best part about these quests is how their own stories tie neatly into the overall narrative. It makes them a genuine joy to play through, rather than mindlessly mashing the button to skip all the dialogue.

The maps are huge, and so much fun to explore. I thoroughly enjoy them, both on land and in the air. This expansion is proof the developers have some quite a few tricks up their sleeves yet, and that second primal fight... wow... just wow. Very interesting mechanics there guys, and a fun battle to be sure!

You need to explore the cave where the big moogle is, should be another ramp leading up (opposite from the tunnel that lead you to big crystal). The masterpiece pebble would be in the upper area, just climb the ramp up.
