Does not help if you can't play anyway.
The Early Access was actually pretty smooth. Could it have been better? Yea it could've but it was pretty damn good if i had to rate it.
Eh ya quest wise and gameplay its amazing yet to hit any bugs or glitches, server and errors connection n such its there along the lines of when ARR 1st came out but just a bit better, still have to play JP servers just to get on vs my actual server, think they would of saw a influx of people for xpac coming and corrected the issue
this is a smooth launch, there had been issue at the start but that to be expect because of the number of player try to log in at once but the issue got fix quickly. There is no lag in game and I have not found any bug so far
You must be on a small server in ff14 lol In wow for me launch was more smooth, it never force closed and queue Numbers were real. Here both my friend and I were at 1 queue on the same dataserver for 30min before we both dc'd. I went to my brothers server of ultros and got in, in seconds. He said he's never ever had a problem ... lucky
Yeah this is much MUCH smoother than the 2.0 launch (and the really bad 1.0 launch). I only had problems getting onto hyperion for about the first 1.5 hours. It's been reasonably stable since (no DC's and nothing appreciable in the way of lag)
If I have to read one more this is the best launch ever topic iam going to vomit, try playing on the Aether Data Center and get back to me
Yo, like i said gameplay is amazing with few/no bugs, (unlike wow in MoP on alliance launch, the swarm of copters and the wrecks of no target, or the burning of the paper if your a panda) so id say its a better outcome compared to it, only complaint is the gosh dang errors tryn to get in.
I am sorry some of had problems. My wife and had a couple of disconnects, DX 11 would not let me choose a any res over 1920 by 1080(I play on 3 monitors 5780x1080) but could still play DX9 I am super pleased.
I got error 90002 only twice followed by 3-5 lobby error 2002 since I was trying to relogin asap. So It was very good.
On balmung, I got booted a few times due to possibly DX11 bugs crashing my client. Then having to deal with mashing the login a few dozen times. Then getting into queue finally only to be kicked several times at 50 left in queue, or even 1(more common). But I did eventually get back in. IMO this is one of the best launches for a hyped up xpac, I've seen. I'm happy with it. I fully expected to not be able to play hardly at all all weekend, like previous launches. But on a side note, that lack of a instance in northern than, was a huge over sight lol.
Draenor launch was an absolute disaster compared to this. The queue was up to 5000 (over 10k on day one), my character data was rolled back a few times (xp was lost) and people would get disconnected when entering their instanced home base where all the quests were, unable to log back in because the instance server fried. When the servers got temporarily fixed players were back in the 3 hour queue. That lasted 2 weeks....
It's been 3 days of early access now and things are looking pretty stable. Queue is 20 at most on Odin and lobby server errors seem rare. I had it only one time and needed less than 10 login attempts to get in.
Heavensward was a really smooth launch. Queues were really small.
I play on exodus. Apart from some queues of 5-17 people, and a couple of 5002s where I just had to try three times to log on, this went extremely smoothly for me.
I play on Gilgamesh and manage to get myself online with some server acrobatics.
It IS a lot better than the Warlords of Draenor launch which is the launch I think OP is talking about. Imagine the inability to connect to a server and when you did connect you had to wait in a world queue of several thousand that could take hours (in my case it was 6 hours). Then you get into the server and hit a bugged area, extremely high latency, crash, and have to go through the whole mess again. Blizzard had to give an official apology for how poorly the launch went. I think that the game came under a DDoS attack on launch day too. Dungeons and battlegrounds and many other bits of instanced content were flat out broken.
This launch is not perfect (and I'm fairly certain those of us in early access are a smoke test) but it is definitely smooth compared to Warlords.
Even though the queue times were low for me (like ~1 minute or less), I can't say anything for the new expansion. I couldn't get into Ishgard, nor pickup the new jobs. Even though I may have had the pre-order CE (I think), there was no way for me to verify it. For me, this expansion has been completely useless, and the first time ever, in any game, that I couldn't derive even just one iota of benefit from it. Nothing new for me here; moving on...
Its been great for me. Only have encountered a few bugs so far. One I had to restart my PS4 after an afk kick to reconnect to lobby, they Flying Polar Bear in CWH, and one where I queued into The Vault from a cutscene and the cutscene music played the whole map, rather than the standard music.
Thanks... PS3 for me, so it is all automatic. I'm not a high-level raider, and don't have everything cleared to 2.55, so that's why...
Even though both the Play Store and official Heavensward site make no (or very vague) mention of main quest restrictions, I bought it believing I could at least get into Ishgard town area, and take in the sights, and get the new jobs.
Nope. I was wrong.
After exhaustive forum searching, and input from other players (only after I pre-ordered ofc) was I finally made aware that the devs changed their minds, and completely closed off Ishgard behind completion of all high-level main quest content to 2.55. :(
If I knew this beforehand (if SE said on their official page that Heavensward was only for end-game achievers who've completed 2.55 all the way through), I would've never bought (much less pre-ordered) this expansion.
Better launch than WoW? Maybe you weren't around in 2010 when the game actually launched ...
Are we really having a discussion about 3 day early access being better than an expansion release day. (That had over 10 million players).
Though if you want to compare:
WoD launch: 3am lag fest, crash meh I'll go to bed. 8am 0 problems for me after that first night.
Heavensward:
Friday night: can't create new character.
Saturday night: can't create new character.
Sunday morning: can't crest new character, (refresh for 3 hours). New character created.
I'd probably wait until Tue if you really want to brag.
The WoD launch was abysmal. This is impossible to argue.
It was, however, a fascinating insight into what playing an MMO at 900,000 ping feels like.
Me, everyone in my guild, and everyone in a EU friend's guild all got stuck in their garrison, floating in the air. Then the servers crashed, and the game was not playable at all (as in, could not log in at all), for almost 3 days. And I was on a medium/low pop server, not a full one. From what I heard, the full ones had enough lag to make them unplayable for almost 5 days. Blizzard also doesn't do early access so it opened to everyone at once. Prior to the crash, everyone was forced into one location at the dark portal (so lots more lag). Of course, WOW has no problems now because they've lost over half their playerbase since the expansion, people are quitting in droves and they are down under 5 million subs, and even the formerly full servers are reporting issues finding guilds and raids.
At least in this game I can get in after retrying a few times, and once I'm in everything is fine (since I'm not on a full server here).
Depends. WoW 1.0, yes this is better, though WoW 1.0 was better than FFXIV 2.0. As for the expansions after WoW 1.0, most were smoother launch then FFXIV 3.0. Honestly though, FFXIV 3.0 isn't that bad. Just takes a few tries to get to the character select screen, then about 30 minutes in queue to play. After that it's been pretty smooth, and I'm on Balmung.
You didn't look very well. The devs have said for over 3 months the requirements to enter ishgard. As have many topics on these forums the requirements to enter. Sorry about your experience, finish the story. New area's are awesome.
Access restrictions to Ishgard info was everywhere for months.
It was a pretty hot topic among people with crafting bots and those who created alts to bypass things like desynth restrictions. There has been at least one thread on the first page of New Posts cosistantly for the last month. Even if it was only one troll bumping it.
It's not even launch yet. Though early access has been fairly smooth in comparison to the one nearly two years ago.
But, man, the whinging people do when they have to wait in a queue is hilarious.
If only I could get in queue. Trying to connect to data center just kicks me back out to enter in my credentials again. Been like that since the weekend. I have spent hours trying to long in to no avail. I think the complaints are valid.
Not sure if you are talking to me, but...
I shouldn't have to. Restrictions should be clearly labeled at the point of purchase. Otherwise, it's misleading, and misrepresents the product/service. But, these restrictions are (in)conveniently(?) omitted. Meaning that SE can garner more sales regardless of delivering any benefit to all of their end consumers. It's a gratuitous promise after all, so they can get away with it.
Besides... I did look up the forums, and confirmed that the devs said players can access Ishgard and get the new jobs starting at level 30.
As it stands for me right now, Ishgard & Heavensward is almost another 2-year grind away. I'm like super casual, so... Anyways, I'd like to be able to hit the "refund button" but the terms on PSN say "refunds are not available". So, I'm SoL.
I have been pretty lucky with wow launches. No issues with bc, wotlk, cata, or wod. I was a little late to mop because I was unsure of the whole panda thing.
It takes some persistence to log in(sometimes I get lucky and log on with the first try though), and there is a slight stability issue here and there but it's otherwise fine. I leveled AST to 55 already, so that's something to say about the stability. I remember reading all those doom and gloom prediction posts about how people wont be able to log in for all of early access, that people "must be new to MMOs" if they thought they'd be able to play day one because the servers would be constantly exploding. And once they were able to log on that most people would be locked out of heavensward areas for days due to maps being filled up, etc, etc. Things like that anyway. This launch is not bad, it's handling the heavy traffic as best as it can.
If they were to list every restriction, it would be a long one. Must be this level, must move your character to this location, must be a combat class with proper gear, must have unlocked the duty finder etc... They could have written the main scenario requirement in their own store I guess, but there would still be people complaining if they bought it from another shop. Nevertheless, everyone has access to the expansions official page where it says:
* In order to enjoy the benefits of early access to Heavensward content, you need to be playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn and have made sufficient progress in the main scenario.
Other than cleaning my CMD ip cache, yeah it wasn't that bad usually its worse this time it wasn't half bad, I say good job.
I have to agree this is far better. If anything because the game itself is highly polished. I don't know if there have been any intense bugs yet or not but I haven't personally came across any. That's a huge plus these days for games as a whole.
It was pretty clearly stated on quite a few places, including the Early Access page where you enter the code. However, you are correct, it is NOT stated on the actual pre-order page for the game on the SE website, which is an oversight on their part.
That said, they've given you an exp increase in the lower stories so getting to 50 should be much faster now.
