You gotta be sneaky.
I've only died on the overworld twice, once by falling off a cliff (graceful) and once when I overestimated a mob. I then went back to the same mob and beat it. Trial and error.
I have yet died, but shit takes so long to kill now :(
Much rather have easy overworld and leave hard stuff for people doing dungeons at min ilvl if they want.
as a whm with the capability to keep a tank in raids alive... not thaaaat difficult to keep myself alive :x
Only died once during a dungeon and I'm level 56. The mobs are still very easy, just don't fight 2-3 at once.
I've only died once from a FATE starting right on top of me.
Then again I've been abusing my class's AOE sleep
should see the peole fighting the A rank lyuba :3 love watching that! XD
omg just going in chat like A rank someone should kill it.
then someone going i will and then watching them die and if they don't but try to run off and it sucks them back in a does 3x the damage it normally does XD
i havent died in the overworld at all... yeah mobs take a while to kill but thats a good thing
I felt so sad when I got to the first enemy where one mana pool wasn't enough to kill it as BLM. Haven't died yet, though.
So far im level 54 and died once. I went to jump off a cliff and right as I did I was targeted by a mob. I went splat at the bottom. The mobs don't seem much harder but they take forever to kill. So taking on more than 1 can be a problem sometimes.
Edit. I'm also ilvl 130 so that's probably made it quite a bit easier so far.
I haven't died yet either. I enjoy the over world as it is now please don't change it.
Only died twice on the overworld, once by getting too many Fate mobs on me, the other by the Tara (the giant turtle one) in Forelands which has an attack that does more damage the closer you are to it. Of course I also am at ilvl 130 which helps.
The only times i have almost died is during the story missions (cant say anything cause of spoilers) but certain quests can be a bit surprising with damage.
I was actually ecstatic about being able to fight mobs in the open world that don't die to a single Fester combo. They probably take about twice as long to kill now and that's perfectly fine in my opinion; I actually get to make use of all my skills for once.
Mobs aren't that hard. No different than when I leveled up from 1 to 50 in ARR as a WHM. I think people just got used to questing with high ilvl gear, as well as big groups for FATE grinding with alts.
PVE group content is so far lacking in challenge, though.
Just gotta be a bit more cautious then. Its not faceroll like it used to be, which is very nice. YOu need to remember, the people that have been playing wanted something a bit more meaningful in the overworld, this is a good fit right in the middle of a smidge harder and where it was. The mobs basically just have double the HP they used too.
p.s. Your i90 weapon isnt helping. There is a ton of weapons available to you that are better. Primals, poetics... why havent you gotten one of those?
You get a new one at 54. That said, I've only died during the story duties cause smn doesn't do single target well. :/ Overworld is easy if you fight 1 mob at a time. You can't group em up and aoe like you did in ARR.
I died in Dravanian twice. I was like "Haha, I'm a tank, bring it on, b***", I found myself running like a princess on fire right after that. My biggest issue was not dying but having a save point in a different map, I was unable to go back because the zone was too congested. :(
There's a thread on this same page about someone complaining dungeons feel too easy.
TC, look from SE's perspective and understand they can't make everyone 100% happy.
I'm loving the harder areas, especially now you can't just faceroll through the new beastmen strongholds. I've died twice just ploughing straight through them ARR style, so much better, now all we need is the places we really need to sneak through or we get 3 shotted :D
I guess it still depends on your class. Level 52 and I have on completely upgraded Ironworks gear on my SCH, so of course, I'm not having any trouble with taking on multiple mobs, besides killing them slowly. I died by accidently falling off a cliff when apparently I was still in battle.
Kinda hard to die with your chocobo out, healing.
Monster damage is fine, monster HP on the other hand, too much.
Edit:
To elaborate further, I feel the enemies would be balanced if they had lower hp. In the open world questing, an enemy should either be high damage and low hp to keep it balanced or have lower damage but higher hp and defenses.
I think they have hit a perfect balance with the mobs. When I see a lone mob, I know I won't have any trouble. But when I see others wandering nearby, or if I see a group, then I'm more inclined to sneak around them or avoid them entirely. It's nice actually having to show discretion when fighting in the overworld again, and especially in Temple Leves, as some pit you against groups of enemies unless you're careful about how you fight them.
I've only died once, you've just gotta be familiar with the enemy's aggro range (how close can you get to their front without them noticing), and pick your battles wisely.
It also helps to have a chocobo/titan egi out.
I haven't died yet in the open world. You just have to be careful. Its much more interesting now, and I'm enjoying it.
Please stop asking for things to be made easier. It just leads to a more boring game experience :(
I died within 10 mins of entering sea of clouds as i130 DRK. Was trying to get to the MSQ there when I saw a fate and started it. Mobs were lvl 47 so I just fought them on the spot, aggrod 2 and accidentally aggrod one of those bat cats. I was fighting in no tank stance and suddenly got slept and hit with 2 aoes and was left in dire straits. Decided to run for it but saw a ninja running for my mobs instead of grabbing his own and I decided to stop to let him hit the mobs, which was dumb on my part cause it didn't help me survive at all. Embarassing and awesome at the same time.
Are you sure its not just your gear score? I'm pretty sure most enemies hit harder before we loaded ourselves up in i90+ gear pre-Heavensward. :P
I team up with random players that appear to be running along the same MSQ path as me. We have a blast every time, then we get to those "solo" instanced parts of the MSQ.
