Another Tetra/Triple Triad thread

I was reading the Tavern thread, and I figured what better reason to go is the Taverns could host tourneys for players, among the other things listed in that thread.

Great ways to handle card distrobution:
Starter pack, for signing up to begin with.
Monster drop cards that go into their own inventory.
Gil for booster packs with random cards perhaps 1 or 2 'rares' per booster
Company seals, cards specific to company.
Beating PCs/NPCs in the game will reward you with one card from the players deck.
Trading

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but the majority of the code is written ff8, ff9, ff11s tetra master, surely you can implement what has been written.

I personally would become a permanent paying customer for a number of years with this one feature alone. It is the perfect time sink when you are not battling or crafting.

So in case I missed it, has there been any dev response if this is anywhere in their plans?

Final Fantasy 8 is actually the one FF I have not played. Everyone says triple triad was better. I am not opposed to either, but we need a card game. Whether it is one of those two, or a unique one to FFXIV

I'd rather have something totally original for XIV.

Triple Triad was one of the best mini-games in any FF.

I actually have a collection of the limited release physical cards from back in the day.

I know there are priorities to the dev, but they are overlooking something that can provide weeks-years of enjoyment with one small portion of the team working on it. And I think the ways I listed to obtain the cards would make it very fun like giving you a reason to kill monsters you wouldn't normally mess with (level 1 monsters???)

Another great thing they can do is have Akihiko Yoshida do all the card art work (:

Shameless Tripple Triad thread plug.

So how do we tell the developers we really want this? It has been brought up so many times, and I don't remember much more than them saying it is something they wanted to implement. That might of been almost a year ago already. So does anyone know of Yoshi or any of the forum mods, posting new infos on it?

The devs have answered the question somewhat. It went along the lines of that they think mini games (in the general sense - nothing specific to TT) are a great idea and they'd like to implement it in the future, but as of right now it's something to do in the far future. They have too much to fix/do right now for it to be a priority.

As a note to the devs: If you implement an in game Triple Triad (or any game similar to it) you'll get my immediate subscription.

I still think even a barebones system with some lengthy collection measures can give the game some fresh longevity while they work on core systems...

Like...bestiaries...Just sayin.

When in university I coded a card game in less than a month. While the art is was no where near SE standards, it worked over TCP/IP and I had to come up with my own rules. If one guy can do it a team this size can. All that time spent on those dungeons that gave people a weeks worth of content.. Instead of the next crappy dungeons that will be sped run in less than a week. Give us something that gives us endless replay value like cards. thanks (:

Supported because a card game needs to be in FF.

I'd love it if they implemented one of them.
I remember posting about this on the beta forums over a year ago and there was quite a lot of feedback from people saying they'd love to see it in game.

And I liked both though I spent a hell of a lot more time playing Triple Triad

TT was convoluted. TM actually worked pretty well in an MMO environment, too bad it never got that popular.

Id love to see a few of the games added, and a new one+ that require you to be in a city tavern (maybe not cards but something), others you can play anywhere.
Obviously not atm as stuff needs fixing but before Ps3 it would be great.

What have the Japanese players said regarding this? the same stuff? I wonder if our translators could bring it up with YoshiP

You spent way too much time typing collectibles XD

A chess game would be a lot of fun, especially if the chees pieces had the appearance of previous Final Fantasy characters :D (King cloud, Queen Tifa, Red XIII Rook etc.). Maybe even let players choose the game their chess pieces are themed from so everyone can play it using their favorite FF characters ^.^

I vote something Original for XIV, maybe spice it with a little Tetra Master and Triple Triad system and add it with XIV's Card system? I'm all for epicness.

Absolutely Yes to Akihiko Yoshida on the Card's Art!!! I always loved his Art! I like Tetsuya Nomura's Art too :D

EDIT: Does anyone who played .HACK//G.U. remember those Card game? I think it'd be awesome If we had some Championship/Tournament and had prizes/rewards for winning.
It should be In the game, of course, With Casino type of place!

Bolded the important bit...

If they make the card game unique to FFXIV, and not use a previous card game.
Outside of the card game itsself each card could have a certain element or effect
If equiped on your throwing hand, or have a Class/Job devoted to it.
The rarer card could have huge effects
