Please put a retainer bell in the workshop

Title

Most people have the mats on their retainers, would be common sense to put one in there

This please!!! Having to zone in and out every two seconds sucks ; ;

This is what I really need right now. :'(

This is a very good idea.

Upvote this idea. Or at least allow FC's to put two summoning bells so we can put a second one inside the company workshop. But should be standard since our retainer is our storage for items just like the FC chest is the storage for the FC items.

Either that or make the Free Company chest comparable to the size of 1~2 retainers as far as inventory space goes. That way I can actually free up a retainer by dumping steel to darksteel level materials in the chest.

Actually, the best solution -which many have been asking for since day one -is for us to simply be able to craft using materials on retainers without having to actually go get them... That's never going to happen though, and I think they said they have no plans to increase Free Company chest size, so I guess a retainer bell is required.

One other nice thing would be the ability to view progress/next steps from the Free Company menu, rather than having to stop by the workshop to check every time.

Or, let us craft from our retainers inventories. Including FC crafts. Really silly that we have all of this retainer space but we have to go arbitrarily withdraw the items to use them. It makes sense, but this issss an MMORPG in 2015.

While we're wishing for bells, the grand company HQs could use them as well for fetching delivery items from storage.

I nearly flipped a table when I saw there wasn't a retainer bell in the workshop. Especially since I store all of my materials on my retainers...

+1 Using the workshop would be so much better with a retainer bell in there. I'm running back and forth every minute to get more mats off of my retainers.

While it won't necessarily be from the free company menu, we will be looking into making it so you can check on the status of materials you've collected for company crafting via the Timers menu instead of having to go to the workshop each time.

Additionally, we'll also be looking to see if it's possible to check an airship's information even while it is out on a voyage.

While your added can you guys find a way to fix the scrolling of the timers menu. It flickers and is very laggy when the rest of the game runs so perfect now. Maybe side by side the timers window or let us pick what items we want to see in it to make the list shorter. Something. Right now it is not appealing at all.

I think it had been discovered that the actual trigger for a second airship is to have explored Sector (?) 8. There were FCs at level 25 who still had no access but some at less than 22 who did. The ones without a second ship access hadn't been to Sector 8 whilst those with access had.

Just wanted to let you know that in a future update, we're planning to make it possible to summon your retainer from inside the workshop.

How about just letting everyone craft from their retainer inventory...BETTER IDEA :D

It would indeed, but from what we could tell from the last live stream, it seems the stress on the server for suddenly having to access an inventory 2 to 8 times bigger would be too much. :(

You know what would be really cool? If, while in an FC workshop, you could craft from your retainer's inventory. But ONLY while in the workshop. It's a workshop, after all, it makes sense that you'd have easier access to materials. I'd think that limitation would limit the amount of extra server stress because only a limited number of people would work from there at a given time. Also, it's two loading screens away from the nearest marketboard, so that inconvenience should reduce the traffic further.


EDIT: I mean, this feature would be nice for any sort of crafting, not just FC stuff. It would also eliminate the need for a retainer bell in there as a side effect.

I think the thing about the retainer bell is that you often have materials for a workshop craft stored on a retainer instead of the fc chest, thus requiring you to zone out and get to a bell and zone back in to progress the ship, so I don't think it would eliminate the need for the bell entirely. Unless you were suggesting that we be able to input workshop craft materials into the interface without having it on our person -- that would be neat :O

I don't understand why they didn't go with this. Blizzard did this with their last expansion months before Heavensward was near completion. It was revolutionary in WOW and would be absolutely amazing in FFXIV.

The way WOW did it is that you didn't actually have access to your full inventory. When you opened your crafting recipes it simply counted the mats in your bank as well as what was in you characters inventory as one set so you could craft directly from all of your mats. It wasn't like you suddenly could pull up all of your tabs at once. You could only access it through the crafting menu.

FFXIV is not coded the same way WoW is. In FFXIV, doing that would cause severe server stress, and SE's servers are relatively low budget from what they've said. It has to do with them backing up your inventory every 5-15 seconds, and if you had access to stuff in your retainer inventories, they'd have to back that up too. That's up to 9x the server load just for having the crafting menu open, even if you had it open while you did other things.

I think the game is too popular to continue on these low budget servers, honestly. The fact that we have to forgo so many features is really annoying.
