i think the aura like effect is a too much glow occupying a wider area. it can be bothersome because it can glow affecting other nearby characters. if i may suggest, please make the glow much more condensed to the character. the glow is so wide based on my observation. you can also create a small burning like effect in the dominat hand or arm. i really like the glow effect you brought in, it just annoying if you see many DRK darkside state in the future with all those glow occupying the screen.
Yea i thought the glow effect of Darkside was a bit too much. It doesn't really add anything and could be designed to be more subtle. Having a visual aura is fine but as it is now, it's just all over the screen.
I support this suggestion. Its a good one.
Also maybe this is something only I encountered but when pulling large groups and aoeing them with unleash its sometimes hard for me to notice enemy aoe. Maybe I will get more used to this but right now I get hit more often then usual. Maybe there are more people with that problem.
More importantly, the aura needs to start obeying the "Battle Effect Settings" in the character configuration menu. I have that option set to show *no effects* for people outside of my party, and yet everywhere I go there's the aura effect from random Death Knight's filling my screen. It's particularly annoying when you're talking to an NPC and there's a DK idling right next to you. I want to see my character when I play.. not the effects from a random DK filling up the view.
I love it as it i, wish it was brighter and bigger so i can yell KAIOKEN TIMES 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the idea is good to form aura like effect for Drk, however, it is not appropriate to see such effect in a calm city with so many glows appearing. graphic wise, it is good but they could limit the glow to respect other players presence. the design is not good for non drk users because it is jsut annoying. FYI gm please consider
I would much prefer if it was something more subtle like glowing red eyes, similar to when you first met Fray or if they want to go the easy route just use the dark aura that shows up beneath his feet before he succumbs you to darkness to hear the voices. The assets are already in the game so why not use it? What it is right now is honestly very cheap looking and very distracting especially in fate parties where all you see is glowing red people everywhere but it definitely needs to be toned down.

I can get on board with this. Using it for the first time, my immediate though was "Mmm, that's a bit much." The aura around the feet or maybe a footprint idea wouldn't be too bad.
I'm actually thinking this is a bug, due to two facts: 1) the aura is unreasonably large, like 4x times larger than the character, and 2) it doesn't obey the battle effects settings. I bet we'll see some info about this from SE before too long.

Completely agreed here. The effect is just obnoxious.
It needs to be changed to something that doesn't extend more than a few inches off the model or even better just put it around the weapon.
Would be neat to see it become a more smaller condensed fiery glow from the body ("shadow" glow? lol) - the size of the aura is significant and imo I wouldn't be able to place it as "Dark" if it wasn't for the fact I knew it was from Dark Knights.
Maybe a subtle ember like effect emanating off the body with a shadowy smoke that trails off, something subtle in screen space use (and less obnoxious) but yet visually significant. Plus trailing smoke effects could look cool in action :D.

The effect is nice, or I think it is, but as of right now it's all over the place. They should diminish the radius/spread by a bit,
I support this thread, that big aura is a tad tacky tbh.
I really liked Raidens aura in Revengence, something similar would suit great here. Red lightning traveling around the body, it could even be made more sparse to show more of the character

EDIT: I just want to say that besides the glow of Darkside I absolutely LOVE all the DRK effects. They are absolutely superbs, especially when you activate skills. Darkside, Blood Weapon, Dark Arts and Living Dead all looks amazing when you activate them!
I think dark side glow should be like the Zenith Shield glow, where the character gets a silhouette glow, not some generic circular glow. This gives a more personal glow that doesn't affect others and is just cool.
So that's what that annoying "look at me, I'm a refugee from wow" thing is...I kinda wondered! It needs toned down a lot,too flashy and glowy.
I like the dark side aria the way it is. Please SE don't listen to these gripes. It makes dark knight more unique to me.

Too big and unable to switch off with Options. Somewhat anoying whenever there are many of them on the screen.
I don`t have the DRK, but is really weird to see the Aura when you pass next to them, like, it kinda throws you off and you say "wow, dude, chill"... Sometimes i react to them as if they were threats, for some reason, they remind me a bit of invaders on dark souls... Honestly, the aura needs to be reduced.

Pretty annoying walking around Ishgard and seeing massive red clouds because a DRK is in the vicinity.

i am back from being suspended for expressing my opinions. i thought that this foruns was used to players express their opinion but i think thats not a case. coming from a country where we leaved over a dictatorship for over 30 years i never thought i will saw something like this on the year 2015.

The effect itself pulses to cover the entire right-half of my display, and I'm playing 1920x1200. It is annoying. It is annoying because it has no discernible shape. It's just random patches of red that flashes on your screen.
