Real DD Capability for Gladiator!

I am trying to spread the discussion about the desire for Gladiator to attain DD capabilities via the addition of a Gladiator based Two Hand Sword, or Dual Wielding capability.


Additionally, I feel that Marauders should have access to Scythes, the things aforementioned don't seem like they'd be too straining on the Dev team's present situation.

A player suggested that Gladiators gain spellcasting benefits while using a single blade in combat, I liked that idea myself a lot but not sure how others feel on it.

I am for giving glads a 2 hand weapon just like CON and THM have 2 hand weapons as well.

People should bring parser results with these "I outdamage lancers" otherwise you're just talking rubbish. But yeah, I'd rather have dual wield ( THF style :cool: ) than 2 handed weapons, leave 2 handed weapons with MRDs.

They may allow dual wielding, but as long as we have access to plate, I doubt Gladiators will have competitive DPS compared to light armor wearers.

Well, both Lancers and Marauders are favored to plate armor, and they can be considered damage-dealing classes.
Lancers, Marauders, and Gladiators are all also favored to war garbs, which are obviously the stronger choice for damage dealing.

So, the whole armor stance seems like sort of a moot point. The only really solid argument I believe one could make is that Gladiators have access to shields, and defense-boosting skills and abilities. That's what sets them aside from the other classes, not heavy armor.

And with dual-wielding/two-handed weapons, you'd lose the ability to carry that shield.

To be honest, I mostly see gladiators with chain anyway.

Gladiators do have access to a shield which allows for the tanking ability of guard, which allows for phalanx which ultimately increases DPS, mitigates damage, and increases enmity. Gladiators aren't DDs, plain and simple. They are tanks. They can dps, but regardless of armor, skillwise the glad just doesn't have the balls to compete. I can stack buffs from other classes and use a WS and get relatively high dmg compared to another class, but other classes will simple out dps me in the end. etc, you know how it goes.

Right, but if the glad is going to DPS, give em a DPS weapon and some DPS skills, and have another glad tank. Ever had 2 or more glads in a party? its like a waste of space. One is tanking, one might take over if the other sucks or theres multiple mobs, and the third is like half a mrd in dps. How about making one the tank, and give the other 2 some claymores.

I know Lancers and Marauders can wear Plate, I was talking about competitive dmg to LIGHT armor users like Archer for example.

I agree that Gla needs an option to wield a 2-handed weapon, they mention weapons like Bastard swords in the preview website, but I would love to see a Zweihander or similar greatsword whose sole purpose is to remove your enemy's head from thier shoulders, in as few blows as possible. Also, if you look at Con and Thm, they both have the one or two-handed option available to them.

You wouldnt really need DPS skills to be added. That is why you rank up other jobs ^^. Your class goes in whatever direction wish depending on what skills you set from the variety of classes. You could make your gladiator a total AOE destroyer if you wished by adding select aoe attacks from various classes. Add Circle Slash, Brandish, Aura Pulse, etc. Think outside o teh box.

Actually, I think it would be cool to have some 2-hand only TP skills for the gladiator, as well as for CON and THM.
