Downloading Heavensward

Regarding the maintenance this Thursday-Friday, How soon will we be able to download the expansion?

I don't think anyone really has that information. I'm hoping early in the maintenance, but there is a lot involved as far as QA is concerned before they actually pull the switch and make the download accessible.

From what I've read ( sorry couldnt find it in my history ) its not until maintenance is complete that the launcher will auto-update to the new client and then allow us to download the Heavensward patch. I could have mis-interpretted this though.

So Heavensward is like a patch?
Because I started wondering how we are gonna download it. If it's in the launcher, everyone can play it though, not just those who bought it, isn't that right? ._.

That seems unlikely since the maintenance is scheduled to end the same hour the Early Access is suppose to start. It will be sometime after start before end lol most of the large patches have been like this as well though

The entirety of Heavensward can be downloaded. Everyone could in theory do so. But I suspect the system that tells their launcher if we have access or not will limit those without Heavensward to not downloading it.

WoW lets everyone download their stuff. But something is in place to stop you if you did not buy the expac.

So I don't need to find a certain webpage for the download but just let the launcher do it's thing? Great! :D

when i bought it on PSN, it said it would be available the 18th, i assume that it only says that that for downloading purposes. So probably during maintenance. Best time to do it anyway.

everyone needs to download the HW patch regardless if they bought it so that they can still see other players who are playing Au Ra or have the new jobs :)

everybody downloads the entire patch, but only those who buy hw will be able to access the new story, areas, job quests etc

Yeah, I was wondering when it would be downloadable. Due to the fact that it will probably be about... 15gb+ which would probably congest the servers for quite a while lol.

I actually doubt its over 3gb, but then again I this is SE - full of surprises.

I do expect it to be between 5-10. Its an expansion. With a lot of assets added. No way is this small. But I shall be pleasantly surprised if its less than 5.

Why 20? 15 at min for a total of ~30GBs according to their (never followed) Please have this much space on your HD avail for the entire game. XD (But come on... 20... not even WoW had me download 20.)

When I reinstalled my OS and redownloaded the entire 2.0 which is 15GB, takes about 1.5-2hrs on fibre internet

With the whole world downloading it, even with fibre I'd expect it to be 4hrs affair if 15GB lol

And lots of disruptions and disconnects.

I know a few ppl that did it alrdy for PC and PS4.... Just waiting on the PS3 codes

I've been trying to figure out how much room I need free on PS4 but haven't been successful. Some sites say 50 GB and it seems to me like that would include what we already have downloaded from ARR (which was over 20 GB) but I'm not sure. Last thing I want to see is a Download Failed message because I fell a little bit short. As of now I have 29 GB freed up on my PS4.
