Isn't everybody getting it anyway lol.
This thread, what's the point?
The point of Early Access is to start playing earlier.
Hope it clarifies.
No, only people who pre-ordered are getting early-access. It's just that 3-4 day jumpstart. Not that much of an advantage, but noticeable for some.
The main reason SE is doing this though is lower server stress. Only people with pre-order and MSQ finished will be able to enter Ishgard, while the rest will have to wait outside = the instance server won't get hit by 100% of eligible players on day one. One part will hit it on Friday, and the other on Monday.
Aso you get the friday and all weekend to play instead starting in the beginning of the week and not having so much free time if you work.
Let's be honest though. If you didn't preorder heavensward, it's probably because you don't even play ffxiv to begin with. If anything is gonna help the servers it'll be the MSQ requirement, not early access.
The point of Early Access is that I have a few more days to get to 60 before Alexander opens and I will have to rush less to achieve it. :)
Not everyone preorders for certain reasons.
It's basically to help lessen the load on the servers by letting people in in 2 waves.
So they can have whatever issues the floods cause under the a flag of "It's early access, uptime is not guaranteed" and ensure the proper, full launch has minimal issues.
I doubt there will be many issues though, ARR was only terrible because of unexpected popularity, and they fixed that pretty quickly, all considered.
EA is so I can look around the maps in peace while not seeing fifty thousand people blocking my view.
I am not 100% certain but is maintenance not the same day as early access? So i can kind of see what op means if that be the case
Somewheres i had read that maintenance was going to be a few days before ea so not sure they changed it?
Again i am not 100% sure so feel free to quote me and clarify as i am sure some of you will do, lol
HW maintenance starts June 18th 2:00 AM PDT and ends June 19th 2:00 AM PDT. Early Access starts on the 19th.

Early Access Start Date & Time
From Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 a.m. (PDT)
Ah thank you for that^
I had to change my holiday again so i will be like many only doing it after work :(
Early access stress test XD
Nope, Alexander Story comes out 2 weeks after launch and Savage is 4 weeks. Source
implying that we are actually going to play the game....lol , hope u like the new login screen guys because thats all we are going to see next weekend....
3-day headstart is enough for some people to level a couple of classes to 60. Not to mention being able to cap the new tomes one extra week before the Tuesday reset. So yea, it has a small advantage.
There will be no new tomes during EA that have a weekly cap.
Early Access is to sell pre-orders. Pre-orders make sales go smoother.
The early access period is enough time to aggressively level at least 2, if not all 3, of the new jobs. As someone who intends to maybe raid as a machinist instead of a bard, the level jumpstart is a valuable time saver so I can do the main story as machnist and not have the exp go to waste.
From Mr.happy's vids he stated that SE plans to have players start at tow different points to prevent the server form crashing akin to how we started 2.0 at 3 different city-states.
Riperino fates, incoming 30 mins to kill a fate boss.
Early access is a blessing esp. for people who work....to enjoy it as soon as the work ends instead of when it would begin on the 23rd
I think it's reasonable to suggest that the majority will be right there alongside you "blocking your view" in Early Access rather than the official launch date. Most FFXIV players who plan to continue playing will be getting Heavensward (who wouldn't want access to the entire game?), and most of them will probably be pre-ordering. Yes, these are just guesses, but fairly safe ones I feel.
The main purpose of early access is to make it a 'must have' to get almost everyone pre-ordering. The pre-order numbers gives SE a rough guide for how many people might be coming back to the game for the expansion and they can prepare accordingly for those numbers on the 19th. It's a clever move as they won't get surprised by a surge of people buying that did not pre-order since the only way into EA is via pre-order.
There'll be a small additional spike on the 23rd but nothing compared to the 19th.
It is only Esoterics that will be released later. Law will be released with the expansion.
Not even sure I'll be finishing 2.55. Time is no longer on my side, life events are becoming too much to allow me to play for more than an hour or so each day. I was on the fence about renewing my sub last time, but I did in hopes to atleast finishing some things I wanted to do, but its not going to happen. So after this sub expires that will be it for me, now I have to wonder what to do with this small fortune I have along with housing. Guess I'll liquidate all the housing items give up the plot and find some lucky person to inherit all my inventory and money, (that I can trade) would seem a waste to just leave it.
Funny, I was just thinking of creating an alt on Malboro and then using that character exclusively for the use of helping other people and stuff. Did I ever tell you how clever and insightful I thought all your posts were? If I haven't, well I always meant to. And that was me hitting the Like button on wherever you saw that.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me considering they're a month behind their initial planned release anyway.
Oh, well.
That's true, but esoterics are the capped tomestone and law are uncapped, so EA doesn't allow players to gain any extra tomes except that time allows (no cap reset). I know it's not mentioned in the bit you quoted, but Kit-Kat was responding to someone suggesting EA provides an extra tome reset week.
If anything breaks in Early access. they can say... well it's early access. Your getting extra time we gifted that to you.
So once it's live. They have to say. Sorry we need to take it offline but it's covered under TOS...
