I was hoping they'd put someone walking beside it for speed comparison, but still, they look pretty fast! Also, these seem to be personal Chocobos, the rentals are supposedly a little bit slower.

Anyway, great video, I can't wait for 1.19

The lalafell ones look faster 'cos they're smaller so have to move their legs faster to do the same speed as the bigger ones x3

I really like the animations (the speedy one with the neck/beak ahead).

It's ok, I watched it 3 times and searched both the dev-tracker and the lodestone to make sure it hadn't been posted already (well, Foxclon put it on the Japanese forums but as usual we get stuff late :P)

Yeah this happens with lalafells in general. I use a lalafell and when I played my brother's character on occasion (he's highlander hyur) I felt REALLY slow... But it's actually an illusion due to their legs moving much slower to maintain the same pace.

I know that's the way they did it in XI too but a hop-on animation wold be greatly appreciated.

The owned chocobos are faster? Where did they say that? Sounds good and gives the players the motivation to do whatever we're required to do to unlock that.

What I really like about ArcheAge is that you can walk beside your mount and set it to flee or fight depending on if it gets attacked, and there's also three different animations depending on which side of the mount you choose to mount from.

I've said it a couple times but I'm thinking/hoping that when they said "fight with your chocobos" they really meant they would fight with you and become a partner NPC and their own pet job. Then the customization/breeding stuff would be really really really significant. Chocobos in the FFT games use different types of (really overpowered) abilities like Healing, Nuking, etc, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of reason.

Plans are in the works to do similar things apparently. Also involving the chocobo in battle among other things.

Wow! The detail on the chocos are impeccable.

I like the music...the tempo is right, especially when you are going into a long ride...

Yay! Looking forward to the horsebirds arriving at long last.

I hope they add a proper animation for when you summon it out in the field eventually, like it running up and you jumping on or something ala. olde FFs. On the other hand, that might take too long if you need a mount fast for whatever reason.

I really liked the video. Just one question.... Why is it Gridania Chocobo's being shown off in Thanalan XD!!!

I hope the instant mount when calling your chocobo is just a placeholder animation for the "Beta" chocobo system. I'd prefer to see them running to you from a distance like the moogle does in the open field in FFIX or have them fall out of the sky like fat chocobo in FFVII lol.

I'd also like to see us actually jump on the chocobo, not just spawn with it under us.

Only complaint is that the chocobo "Spawns" underneath your character come on guys, even in XI the chocobo ran up to, and left you in the field.

Can't say I'm psyched that you can just summon your chocobo whenever the hell you feel like it for days on end...but whatever, at least they are coming and are well animated.

Not a complaint by any means, but I had pictured in my minds eye that they would come running in(fading in) from a distance and there would be an animation of hopping onto them.

Can we get this at some point?

I am hoping for the mounting graphics to come 1.19a/b or 1.20 I am just happy to have chocobos finally!

The animations will probably come at a later date. The important part for now was to let us ride the damn things, and after watching this video I can't wait to speed through Thanalan on mine :D

Haha the lalafell's would have to jump nearly twice there own height to get on!

Maybe SE could show the lalafells getting on with the help of a step ladder? :D :D

why are the lala's chocobos the size of large cats? Why not just put a lala on top of a normal sized chocobobo...

Because a super bike and giant horse bird have so much in common....

I still stand by my point, put lalas on full sized chocobos like everyone else. No need for mini birds that look like they are speed hacking.

I really hope they do get better at 1.20+, But for now, Chocobo in itself drives me crazy! I wanna ride em! That yellow creature!(not spongebob)

Here's my Idea:
-Disciples of the Land can gather a "Insert an Item name here".

-Disciples of the Hand can craft them with Chocobo Feather to make a specific Item

-That Item will have a 100% Durability and will decrease for each time you use it and once It reaches 0%, It'll be broken and while it is broken, you will not be able to use it.

-This certain item will have Varieties and different effects.

-Gysahl Greens can be used to Heal the Chocobo's Morale/HP while riding them or while they are stationary(Un-summoned).

-Disciples of the Hand can Craft [Gysahl Green+Chocobo Feather] and make them into some kind of Chocobo Morale/HP Resurrection Item, "Insert an Item name here"

My hope for 1.20+ for Chocobos will be:
-New Chocobo Animation(When called).

-Being able to fight Chocobo Cavalry Battles.

-[Offense] and [Defense] position when battling.

-Chocobo Gears, Armors, etc with variety.

-More Chocobo varieties, and If 1.19 doesn't include things such as Breeding Stage, Color Varieties, etc then I hope they will come at 1.20+

-Different types of Chocobos, and ones in the wild.

-Wild Chocobos in the fields. Choice between killing them to obtain a certain, rare drop Item or give them Gysahl Green to gain "something"

-Fat Chocobos!!!

Becuase a big chocobo would have more power then a small one? doesn't matter anyway, what you see in the video is what we are getting.
