New details on Caravan Security!
Looks awesome and well developed in the tactic's and difficulty it seem's to give us. We will see though if it will actually be tough enough to at least cause 1-2 chocobo's to flee in some instances (not all the time, just enough make it challenging and different each time) I really want to do this. Also first repeatable quest! *cheers!*
I wonder how often we can repeat the quests.
I would hope to guess 1 every hour or 4 hours. Or else 1 a day... but that wouldn't make it pleasing to most... and if it was 1 every hour it would make since in an Eorzean world feel since 1 hour=1 day in game usually escort's like this happen not 5/a day or so lol.
I was excited then I remembered these are for level 20.
The higher level ones are coming 1.20.
I think it would be even better if they can have multiple escort's going on at once in an area it would definately liven up the road's and give life to the world because there is multiple business's with multiple caravan's! but sadly we have to speculate that but multiple at once would really liven up the roads... and they really need that!
MY biggest concern is will it be doable with players from other companies. Finding people to do the escort with that have sworn allegiance with the same company as you would be annoying. Especially since it doesn't look soloable.Quote:
Only those who have pledged their full allegiance to a Grand Company can undertake caravan security. To do so, simply speak to the NPC representing your organization stationed at the following aetheryte camps:
You can help people that have other allegiance (stated somewhere), companies doesnt fight against each other, they fight with each other, and it will work the same just as current guildleves. People have been spreading out among all other cities for leves and so far there is no issue in getting people to do leves with me in all cities because party rank range doesn't really matter that much anymore.
I'm afraid you have to be same allegiance or maybe I'm just reading the following wrong.
Quote:
speak to the NPC representing your organization stationed at the following aetheryte camps:
The Maelstrom: Camp Bloodshore
The Order of the Twin Adder: Camp Tranquil
The Immortal Flames: Camp Horizon
as much as im all for new content, im not sure why so many people are loving stop and kill, then move, then stop and kill...rinse repeat...then repeat later quest. I can garuntee you people will get sick of it pretty fast.
Because it's real or as they stated the carts run off and you will have to reorganize to move forward? I don't know but honestly if caravan guards did their job correctly they would stop the menace from getting close enough to scare the chocobo's away and the caravan can keep moving. I know this is a irl scenario but caravan's don't keep moving when they are under attack and leave their guard behind, because they might be going into a trap where everything will be lost.
edit: also the fact that if it kept moving and took you awhile to kill the attackers then you would have to hunt down where the caravan went to and catch up... so that's why they have them stop so it is at the pace of the player, or party.
I doubt that, the level might be much higher than 20 since the "player" characters shown are decked in high level gears, and to r20 Camp only because *coughs* they are the only camps under attack by Imperials at the moment, hence the need for supply as they are our current "war front".
Very true as an irl situation. However the not-realistic situation often happens in other movies and games and makes it more exciting.
The cart stopping could get quite difficult though, if the enemies spawned at a constant rate the players would have to fight harder and faster to drive them off and continue, this could be good or bad, depending on how many players are involved...
Cool. Some content.
Guess Bombard Event was a rehearsal for this.
somewhere in devs post.
Chances are you won't run into someone that wants to do Horizon at Limsa Lominsa, same as how you won't run into someone that wants to do Ul'Dah leves in Gridania, but if you have friends in LS that wants to help, i don't see how is that stopping them, kinda like people that doesn't have leves but wanna join in a leves run.
Ya, I would also like to see it scale in difficulty with the amount of "guard's" there is in the party! 1 player there is a decent amount of mobs but not unreasonable for 1 to take care of, but still a threat. Then with 4 people there is more mobs and a bit tougher! This is probably wishful thinking but it would make it fun, also if they had 3 or 4 different event lines for a escort mission so that it's not the same thing over and over again...
It says foreign company recruits can't help you.
Well, maybe they can coax chocobos back and feed them, but they probably won't be able to attack anything, unless they are allowed to.
Although, technically ... it doesn't actually SAY that foreign company recruits can't help. It just says they need to have sworn allegiance to A company and that they need to accept duty from their relevant camp... so maybe they can help after all, provided they can accept the duty at the camp (but they might not be able to).
Yeah, that's true, but players have to accept the duty from the camp, and the NPC may not allow players to accept the task if they have not sworn fealty to THAT specific company.
But perhaps. It kind of implies that you won't be able to, but it doesn't specifically state it.
Ya sadly we will have to wait and find out, but I am having faith that they won't limit it in such away, time will let us know though, just we ALL need to have patience.
Well from a coding point of view, it's kind of similar.
Mobs attack Chocobo and chocobo loses health. This is a parallel with the Bombard who was attacked by Chigoes and lost health.
Chocobos can be coaxed back by clicking on them. Bombards could be coaxed by clicking on them.
Caravans will follow a set path (presumably) with mobs spawning during the process, which players fend off. Bombards did same thing.
Only difference is you didn't have to feed Bombards Gyshal Greens to keep them happy. For Bombards, you had to heal them, not feed them.
Lol I wasn't talking about that connect I was more refering to your comment about more content. Since we have been knowing these things were coming for the past few months.
This is a great concept and I'm looking forward to it, but oh man what an epic dev-post fail.
Repeatable, yay! But....
- How often?
- Do these award GC seals or something useless so no one will do it?
- Is this possible to solo or just group only content?
- If so, at which ranks, r50 only or could lower players be successful with some level of skill?
Why must they ALWAYS leave out the VERY important SIMPLE details EVERY time? It seems like they do it purposely in order to incite massive speculation (and leading to rage) from the playerbase.
An escort quest...ahem. So many games do that right that I can't see how SE could go wrong with the design of this one.
/sarcasm
Anyway I'm happy they're at least thinking of different kind of content than just kill checklists. As always all we can do is wait to see how this works.
Oh. I thought you were implying I didn't do bombard event or something.
I was like: "am i missing something? am i the only one who sees similarities...?"
Anyways, I guess my original comment was more an acknowledgment that SE are doing the right thing by adding content finally, rather than an admission of my suprise.
lol I should of probably stated that in the original post but meh to late now!
Why do people feel the need to make a thread on something that anybody can see on the lodestone page? -.-;
It won't make you the cool kid of the day, because I am always the cool kid.
My 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
