New players in Heavensward

Hello, I have few friends who want to try the game when the expansions release. But there something i am afraid.

When they reach 50 with the main quest, they will be stuck with doing the 50+ quests of 2.x to reach heavensward, to do all primals and dungeons.
With all existing players doing heavensward, nobody will queue for old content, so the queue will be longer.

It's kinda bad to block people at level 50 and not allow them to reach the expansion considering theses quests doesn't take just few hours.

I'm sure there will be ways that players will have to do old content, like how it is now. Also there is talk to revamping of the low level dungeons to allow for non-standard parties to participate, maybe even solo them. Wait till they announce the new relic weapon and people find out they need to run Sastasha for some rare item drop. They always put in some way to make people run old content.

They change it that people who queue for a content the first time in DF get a higher priority.
And yes, there is always a quest, reward, rare item that bring people back to old content.

you can party up with them and do the content without being sync'd so you can blaze through main quests in 3.0, i believe. or maybe ask them if they can start now?

Most of the 50 dungeons are optional, there are only a couple that are required if the intent is to get to Heavensward ASAP. All they have to do is add the new uncapped lvl60 law(?) stones to the trial roulette and wherever castrum/prae end up and the rest of the problem will probably fix itself.

First time players will already get a priority queue over cleared players so I wouldn't worry too much as your friends probably aren't the only ones that will be starting fresh. I would be more worried for existing players trying to level the new jobs since the queues will probably be packed.

I can only assume they've planned for this, as it's a very obvious flaw if things are simply left as is.

If trial/story roulette give enough EXP I might use them to level alt classes.

10 dungeons and 6 primals/trials are a little more than a couple. Needless to say there will still be help.

I think the biggest concern is locking people out of the expansion with that pre req. Usually games give you an early access to expansion(like 2 levels earlier), now people will be stuck outside.

We will need to wait and see what the patch notes look like. It might relax a lot of our concerns.

I'm sure this game that is infamous for dragging people kicking and screaming through old content will do a sudden u-turn and leave all the new players to rot thus sealing the fate of the game as a whole and bringing it to ruin. Oh wait, I don't think that will happen at all.

Didn't they say new dungeons will be added to the 1-59 LLDR, also known as leveling roulette?

Its not the dungeons. Its the 8 player trials.

*Those* are what has folks worried.

No one likes Castrum or westwind as it is.

I am helping a friend try to catch up. She is just completed "Let US Cling Together." Now onwards to the last patch.....
NOPE! To even start the arc of "Before the Fall" she was to go and do Titan, Garuda, and Ifrit in hard mode. Why? The is no freaking reason why a new player should have to do these. It is not apart of the MSQ. There is no precious "Lore" that supports her having to be stopped in the MSQ to do these fights. At least we have a good FC that will help her punch these out. so it is really 13 Trials, and 3 are not apart of the sacred Story.
New players are NOT going to be happy campers trust me.

Three fights that can be cleared in 5 minutes or less, introduce slightly harder mechanics, and drop pretty weapons that MIGHT even be a temporary upgrade for such new players. When you consider the grind that the game eventually involves, is this something to really be upset about?

They have found ways to avoid this problem so far, i doubt that will cease to continue.

What can be done vs what is done are two totally different things. With everyone over geared, yes five minutes or less. New players in for the first time, vote abandon. Did a ton of Titan HM more often its way longer than 5 minutes.

Also back when people actually queued for trial roulette, but every sense they added storms of fate, its a completely different ball game.

Your 5 min fight is with veterans over geared. We have been told over and over the for a new player getting to the expansion that they bought will not be all that hard or long. How long is the queue for a dps? I guess you are lucky and never have seen of the abuse new players get in trials?

Exactly what does these 3 trials add to complexity that Shiva, Levi, Ramuh do not already have AND are apart of the MSQ?

Omg the HM primals are such a road block! They queue fast and clear faster, god forbid players have to experience content. I heard only those with great statics can clear all 3 hm primals, so if you dont have a good fc you might as well quit. Come on. You are completely over-exaggerating.

It's not like your friends will be the only new players to start FF14 at HW launch. Never the less there is still the roulettes so unless people completely ignore them they should have enough people with them to do those MSQ dungeons/ Trials. At launch there is a high risk of a lack of endgame players not doing older content for a time but this doesn't mean it'll be impossible for them to do these contents. If you're afraid of them not being able to get enough people just join them and if you know other players in game (such as guildmates or friends) just ask them to help your friends clear these contents I'm sure a lot of people would help new players if given a chance.

Another problem we have to consider:
If SE is doing it like in older FF games with breaking the lvl cap (a Quest or event or somethng like this) then what will players do who reached level 50 before finishing mainstory up to 2.5? Does that mean they will be stuck at 50 not gaining any xp (prefarming for level 60) untill they finally activated it through the new quest or event? I mean: Everything they do untill then does not give them any xp points and they have to start from scratch when they finally got past 2.5 storyline (50 to 60)...

I wonder how SE designed it :)
